Young players are inconsistent by their nature. Today was inconsistent. We shouldn’t think we’re going to be world beaters every week. I don’t think we have shown any signs of being world beaters at any point recently. Pretty much every Championship club states the playoffs as the goal and we are no different. I didn't buy it last season or this. What the hell do you expect? .... I just think that if our strategy is to promote acadey players and buy lower league players with potential, you can forget about a push top 6, unless that recruitment is so phenomenal that you unearth Premier League ready starlets (or they are handed on a plate by Guernsey FC!) So that's fine, but let's settle for mid table ish. 2 minutes ago, Mr Popodopolous said: It's just too thin. It is a long season, injuries will arise but you need depth where possible, competition plus that midfielder with a touch of class. We were spoilt with Scott but someone for sure. I agree, but Brian Tinnion was lauding the other week how we have two quality players for each position.

Over the last two decades they (SL mainly) have proved that they aren't fit to run a football club when it comes to decision making side of things. 4 1

Big reductions, but @Ghost Rider is correct that after only 3 games it's concerning, but it's not conclusive. As for what we should aim for. Well historically the majority of top 6 teams end the season with roughly 12-15 shots per game, 4-5 of which are on target, and xG for is normally around 1.35-1.5, with top teams hitting 1.6 xG per game. So, if after 15 games we're back up to those numbers, well then fire up the bus and clean out the trophy cabinet! Unfortunately the evidence so far suggests that kind of xG will only be possible with different players and potentially a different formation/style of play. We just don’t look like scoring and our only 2 league goals this season have come from long throws from a player whose best ability on the pitch appears to be long throws. (Which would be fine if for all was like American Football, where we could have a specialist player we just bring in and out for long throws but obviously it’s not!) We don’t have 2 fit quality players for each position. And even when fit, I would question whether we have enough depth through the squad. All areas through the spine of the team look at risk of significant problems if there were injuries or a suspension to a particular player (GK, central defence, attacking midfield, centre forward).

Not many, off the pitch can't really fault him with the facilities significantly upgraded but I think it's quite telling how quiet SL in particular has been ln the last couple of years. I think he got the NP appointment right and realized he had to be given the time to sort out the mess the club was in, which he oversaw and ultimately let happen under his watch. His responsibility as much as LJ/MA,, but in truth I don't think he had much of a choice, can't just keep sacking managers especially with the financial state the club was in. In my opinion and it's just a hunch, even if there was a war chest available to spend I honestly don't think he would back him with it. Cotts springs to mind, neither him or Nige are yes men.
