A couple of West Brom fans on twitter, plus Darren Witcoop (Sunday Mirror) seem to think this could be a permanent move.

I like deals like this. Has shown potential, and still has time to improve further. Sensible business.

If TGH is such a talent why would WBA loan him out ? Surely if he is that good he would be in their 1st team plans

Their fans are saying if we think he’s good enough for us then why don’t WBA think he’s good enough for them. I think the answer to your question and their question is people have different opinions on players

….and West Brom’s financial situation too.  You can only move on players other clubs might want.

Please follow the OTIB tradition. You're supposed to say I don't know anything about this player but he's not good enough for us.?

50 odd appearances for West Brom. Young versatile. Ye sorry piggy not good enough for us.

Some fans need to lower their expectations. They will only end up disappointed

A very Bristol City signing if this happens

Midtable Champ, no danger of relegation, no hope of a promotion push

Alex Scott came from guernsey.

This guy, has more pedigree, than Alex Scott did.

This is the sort of Bristol City transfer that works out for us.

Big signings rarely work out well for bristol city.

There is this french striker being pushed out of the PSG squad at the moment, only 24, might be a bit rusty with lack of game time but I think he might be decent. Should go in for him. Good back up for wells imo.

So a player can't be considered a talent if another player is playing more often instead currently?

I know its popular right now on this forum to express complete negativity for any club action however if this is true we do have to give them the benefit of watching the player ourselves before casting judgement.

Not an unreasonable question to ask, me thinks…

Looks at a glance like a perfectly logical signing, however it does feel like City are gearing up for a big promotion push in 2026 when all our young talent comes of age.

Vyner contact expires 2024

Pring 2024, club option 2025

More relevant to this, Bell and Conway also both 2025.

We need to try and sort these too.

I understand the need for versatility but would really love us to sign someone who is a specialist in a specific position.

We all would, but I don't think we can afford too with our limited wage budget at the moment,

We can’t sort out Bell and Conway yet as they will want pay rises

Did Scott start off as a RWB? Sure he played there but thought he’d always been a midfielder.

His position was a midfielder but we shoe horned him in at RWB to give him experience at championship level

Clock is ticking slightly then.

Could we offer them some kinda graduated rise ie similar now but a rise next year tied to TV money rises which we know is coming.

A lot of young player contracts have trigger points for wage increases anyway, e.g. after they’ve played x games.

I'm sure they'll want and deserve pay rises and I'm almost certain we'll have already or will offer them increased wages to re-sign. I know you'll quote NP that were at the ceiling of our wage structure currently. I wouldn't always take his word as gospel plus he could mean its at the ceiling for new signings and wages for existing players and their respective new contracts have been set aside already.

One thing we do know is we'll want to extend those contracts 100% only a fool wouldn't.

A guy I work with is a Baggies ST holder and said he’s not bothered to be losing Gardner-Hickman. He said he could make it but that he would be surprised if he did, and that he’s nowhere near Scott level which is no surprise.

I wouldn’t prejudge this one though, he looks like a logical signing of the type I’d expect us to make. Let’s hope we get him in and we can see the best of the lad.

Yes of course we will but if we extend in one year then we save 12 months worth of extra wages paid out, is my point
