Seems we are following the trend for versatile players, aka utility players. Not sure it is a trend worth following at this level, but we shall see.

I think it's a very clever signing. Cover for McRorie in the short term, strengthening midfield in the medium to long.

A few years ago, a bloke in work said he’d been to a seance. One wag asked “was there anybody there” and he replied “yes me, my wife, some friends…”

The missus went to see a medium years ago, at which I scoffed relentlessly. She protested, saying she came highly recommended, "gives you your winning lottery numbers and everything". "Sounds reasonable" I replied, "where does she live"? "In a council house in Withywood" said the missus.

Well if she was that good surely she'd have sorted out her own winning numbers first?

May well be, but not the point I was making. We seem to be signing a lot of versatile players, great if you have elite versions, not so sure at this level where specialists a more natural fit. Just how I see it. Sykes an example, think his form suffers when moved about.

He also seems genuinely very happy to be here & not as if he has just been forced out of West Brom, think this could end up being a very smart signing.

WBA fans miffed, so that is a good sign.

On a similar basis, In the local town hall (Sodbury) recently there was a medium and it said on the flyer “booking advised”.

Surely she knew if it would sell out?

I am saying that yes they are payed employees they aren’t in control we are they play for us and are in breach of contract if they display any disobedience! They after all signed the contract and weren’t forced! You can’t just choose to go as now you are good !

But good job defending the players

Think you might be better off heading to Facebook with this sort of drivel.

Sounds a bit too similar to Jason Knight for my liking. Decent signing but not one which is going to allay concerns about a lack of creativity ?

Nothing like him tbh, more of a passer, technically good off both feet and much taller although gets around the pitch well like Knight - we need energy in our midfield and some young blood as we are sadly lacking based on what I’ve watched so far this season

The missus story got worse. On her return I asked if the woman had a doorbell (which apparently she did). Would she need one? Surely she'd know you were there anyway...?

I take your point, but IF the owner is clutching the purse strings then you sometimes have to be creative.

Hopefully a replacement and upgrade on williams…. Would be nice if we could get that salary off the books.

Two questions. @Mr Popodopolous @ExiledAjax and other finance guys.

How much of a financial mess are WBA in? This really does seem to come from nowhere.

And

Does it state anywhere he can’t play against them (as this is loan to buy does this change that)?

Finances at WBA - my understanding is that they are in a bit of a potential mess. That is, firstly their finances are tightened because they no longer get parachute payments. Then there's another aspect which is that they are mortgaged to the hilt, but that's all tied up with loans to and from other companies owned by Dai, plus the legendary MSD. So long as Dai stays around and keeps playing ball, they're ok, but if he goes, or MSD call in their loan, then it's an issue. They're on a knife edge basically.

Do check out the link that @chinapig posted above as it explains it all in detail.

I'd have no idea what the terms of the TGH deal are, could be anything that was negotiated, he might be permitted to play against them, he might not. We've not seen many loans under Pearson and Alexander so I don't think we have a yardstick for what they negotiate.

All I would say is that the phrase "option to buy" should mean that it is up to City whether or not to action that purchase.

Worth remembering, but do we know if transfers sit under NP or Tinns? - Assumed the latter was now moved into a player recruitment role?

Seems like a really nice, genuine lad - who is also happy to be here! Versatility is great, especially when covering injuries but feel he will be more of a midfielder, as he gets stuck in and has a decent shot on him too! Excited to see him play and more so if we get that Irish lad too. Coyr

I understand the need for versatility but would really love us to sign someone who is a specialist in a specific position.

Spot on.............a forward who knows how to hold the ball up and bring others into the attack would be a good start?

Aware that people don't like a target man on here, mostly due to the long ball stigma - but personally feel its what we desperately need at the minute.

Bold gives me hope.

If we get Murphy in, if we can get one more midfielder and a forward in a similar manner. Could be (cautious) cause for optimism we may yet see more incomings.

Seems like this might’ve been the one Nige was referring to Saturday post-match.  Probably come in at RB initially, then move into Midfield.

Do you think TGH has already signed a “pre-contract” here, so we can trigger the transfer without his consent in the future?

I doubt it.  But no point in there being an option to buy if the player is dead set against coming after the loan, I guess.

It’s a collective effort, although Tins and the recruitment team will be doing the day to day grunt work.

Did Scott put in a transfer request? Does that even happen anymore?

However the speed at which the deal got done at the death does suggest that.

I think it more likely to suggest we knew more about how serious the knee injury was and decided to protect ourselves and get the deal done.

I was desperate for us to keep Alex, but with news of how long he is out I am glad we sold

Confirmed by the Midlands media that he isn’t available to play against WBA (standard) & he’s also cup tied, so he can’t feature against Norwich either.

Bound to go into the squad for Friday though.

Find it quite telling he’s referred to us as ‘we’ and ‘us’ in his interview. Pretty rare for a loan player to do that from day dot!

Yeah but he's also raving about the atmosphere and support so he's clearly unhinged.

...

I have no idea what to think about this kid because he's a total unknown quantity to me. Finger crossed he can contribute ?
