Youd have thought that based on his performance levels in our midfield he’s been poorly treated from a selection point of view.

And he seems to be a good fit for the type of football Manning apparently wants to play. Certainly a better fit than Williams.

It's more the condescending comments of 'tombola' I'm referring too. You do sometimes make good points and I actually agree TGH shouldn't have been dropped.

However, you do so without context i.e Manning is working out his best team so rotation will happen because he's literally managed us for a month. During his time with us 80% of the team is the same week in week out partly due to availability.

You then follow up with tunnel vision arguments/comments always positioned in a negative way towards Manning. You never seem to provide balance to any of your posts and it completely undermines the sensible parts.

But as Dave said above, when a player, especially one that's been performing well gets dropped without any reasons given then its going to provide a talking point.

You may not like it but everything Manning does and doesn't do is in the spotlight due to the circumstances around his arrival. That's just the way it is and the only way to change that is with results.

Yep, that’s the bit I don’t get.  I’d argue it should be more a toss-up between Jamo and Joe, who partners TGH, although Jamo has been a constant when fit…and does a lot of unforeseen work.  But we did see TGH and Joe for the last 20 yesterday.

I think @W-S-M Seagull makes a valid (albeit sarcastic) point re TGH. He’s twice been left out by LM.

QPR - LM’s first game, so you kinda accept his logic

Huddersfield - yep, can understand rotation with 3 games in a week, but then missed Blackburn too.

Youd have thought that based on his performance levels in our midfield he’s been poorly treated from a selection point of view.

But we don't know whether there's been a need to manage his minutes from an injury risk point of view or even just freshness for the next game. Or TGH not showing it in training etc.

There's several reasons why these things can happen, just saying "tombola" and from someone who refuses to give Manning any credit in any of their other posts then I disagree.

It's angry man yells at clouds.

If the point had been coming from someone capable of nuance and balance (and not just saying tombola, all capsed and spaced out in an obnoxious manner) then it wouldn't have got pulled up.

Goals conceded is down to the defenders, up until yesterday I’d imagine his saves per match is the lowest, he’s been at fault for a fair few goals this season, just lucky we haven’t got good enough back up to challenge him!!

Nope. He's got some of the best figures in the division this season.

O'Leary has the 4th highest total number of saves in the division this season, and the 3rd best save percentage. He's been busy as well - he's faced the 6th highest number of shots on target.

Agreed.

But Williams has played well when he's come in.

Nothing but rotation as I see it, no favourtism and no unfair selections whatsoever, we also don't have access to the players fitness levels which, given all the tech available, the manager will have.

Having said all that, I'd have TGH start every game if it were possible.

We all accept that.

But, If you listen to LM’s answers to questions on this, it’s fairly evident TGH has been “unfortunate” to miss-out, he kinda admits it.  There has been no comments on fatigue / fitness, which he’s used openly about Sykes, Knight and Weimann.

I think some of you are just jumping at everything @W-S-M Seagull posts.  If you read them, you’ll see plenty of explanation about what he posts and much of it is fair from his opinion.

It’s going to be interesting to see if the new wage budget will be extended & some of the nest egg used  next month . Manning was asked last week what part of the pitch he was looking to strengthen & he did hint on midfield & forward positions. If they’re going to be better than we already have then it’ll cost . He also mentioned we needed more depth , which we do . So can’t see anyone leaving

This.

Jury is out and why not?

Cosy old Bristol City accept any old shit if its spooned out by the Lansdowns and Sid.

I dont know the fella but hes clearly a fan who knows NP isnt coming back and wilk back LM when he earns his wages.

I genuinely see no LM haters so no need for things to be so polarised. He is fair game like any player or the hierarchy.

Nothing wrong with that.

I am surprised nobody has suggested this before but Manningball when it finally comes to fruition will seemingly deny the opposition possession which will naturally dry up, or at the very least, greatly reduce attempts on goal.

It is the general consensus on here that Max is a very good shot stopper but his distribution leaves a lot to be desired. As Manningball becomes more successful the former quality will become less important and the latter more. It seems to me to be a no brainer to thus try TGH between the sticks as he has a special talent for pinging the ball around with accuracy and precision. This will further decrease opportunities for our opponents to obtain possession thus further limiting their attempts on goal. By all accounts, each time TGH has picked up his wage packet he has yet to drop it, so that shows promise.

Of course, this bold move would necessitate Manningball being extremely successful. On the odd occasion the opponents mustered enough possession to pose a threat, such as winning a corner etc, then Max could be quickly subbed on then off again when the danger was averted.

I truly believe in about twenty years this will be the norm for most clubs and goalkeepers will be an even more specialised position confined to the bench and only called upon when briefly needed. The coach who first implements it and gives it his name will be hailed a tactical genius. When asked how he came up with such a revolutionary idea he will say that he had nothing to do one Sunday afternoon and just surfed football clubs fora around the net.

He has saved the 5th most shots in the Champ so far this season and has the 3rd highest save to shot ratio

Really? Funny how we all see a different game. I don't rate him and would definitely be letting him go when his contract ends. James is a harder decision but on balance I just feel his lack of pace and energy would mean I'd be looking to release him too. Frees up space for LM to sign players and help the transition to 'his' team.

I'm not a fan of Williams, just saying he's played well since coming back from injury.

I think TGH has given him a lot of competition and he may be responding to it.

It is because we are limited to 90+ minutes for our information. We don't know what's happening in training, whether he is carrying injury or any of the other things the manager will base his selections on.

I also don't understand this obsession that some of our fans have with starting eleven's, football hasn't been an 11 man game for a good 10 years or more, every player in the squad knows they potentially have a part to play on match day. If TGH wasn't getting in the squad, that would be harder to understand.

Well said

O’Leary on the basis of yesterday? He’s been poor all season up until yesterday!!

Find me a Championship keeper without limitations.

They get patched pretty quickly (see Kaminski at Blackburn).

Shocked nobody has gone in for the  Rotherham keeper Johansson yet.

If Manning gave £100 to everyone who went to the next home game you'd criticise him for it still.

You're beyond ridiculous at this point.

To be fair,, dropping tgh for williams was/is an absolutely ridiculous decision, only justified if tgh was injured, which he certainly didnt look when he was brought in…

Like him. No idea why he was dropped. Not sure there was any need to shout in the keepers face when he earned the pen. Not sure if there was previous between them but not a great look.

Read somewhere that it was due to the keeper's reaction from the first penalty appeal.

To me Williams and James are too similar in their style of play and TGH brings an alternative as we saw on Saturday.

None of us know why Manning doesn’t start him every match assuming he’s fit.

We are not allowed to speak about this Robbo.

If we do speak about it we get labelled with having an agenda.

We must not question why one of our best performing players of late has been dropped a few times. We must instead blindly support.

We most certainly must not point out that without TGH and his performances Manning would be in a right pickle right now.
