They are a far better side than we are. Expectations were low before the game because of this. I wouldn’t expect us to have a great deal of possession. Did you?

Yes they are better than us. In football, one team is usually better than the other but I would expect better than this.  Why can other teams go there and play well and keep the ball? We can’t even make 4 consecutive passes. It’s that which annoys me. I don’t mind losing to Bournemouth away but I mind how we lose!

Honestly I don't understand why he doesn't just tell them to kick it in the goal 5 or 6 times, then Bournemouth would have basically no chance, he's useless

Expectation has sunk so low hasn’t it. You are happy with 22% possession it seems. Amazing that other teams below us in the table can go there and have the ball half of the time, isn’t it. Quick, text about parachute payments…

You’re right but realistically the club are unlikely to come out with a line saying that they expect ST sales to fall, although due to both the pandemic & economic situation, they are almost certain to do so.

This comes back to my point about pricing, I think it is about right, as any freeze or drop wouldn’t have resulted in greater income.

I would say, just don’t mention expected sales at all. It makes them look out of touch

Seems a waste of time I can't see any evidence of many fans wavering

How do you know how many fans are wavering?  I’ve seen fans on here, twitter and my WhatsApp groups thinking about all areas of finances right now.

It’s common sense really.  Cost of living has gone through the roof and hasn’t peaked yet.  It will be down to people to prioritise I guess but there will certainly be a reduction in sales.  The club have said they expect sales to increase. I think that’s extremely naive and their belief is completely baseless.

If you accept that season ticket sales will reduce then you must accept that there are fans deliberating over buying/renewing.  Anyone not going through their incomings and outgoings with a fine tooth comb right now must have a lot of disposable income.

What would be really interesting to see is a breakdown of season card holders in each section of the pic below:

if we take 19/20, we sold circa 13k and revenue was £3.622m, so average price is £278 per SC.

I guess we can’t go on just how many sold, has to be a combo of that, plus where they’re sold, and how much revenue it brings in.

My view is that I’d rather generate £3.622m from 18k rather than 13k, because footfall means we see more spend elsewhere, but I’m not the bean counter here.

Counter argument to that is that to grow season ticket sales by 38% you would have to reduce cost per game from £13.10 to £8.70 if you take the £3.6m as the end revenue for both 18k and 13k. That would mean that POTD prices would have to come down or the gap is too big. If it didn’t come down you wouldn’t get many POTD fans at all as anyone thinking they will spend £35 on a ticket a few times a season would just have bought a season ticket as well.

Not sure I’ve explained that very well but can’t be bothered to re type!!

According to the letter we got sent in the post from the club, we currently have 13000 season card holders and expect this number to increase!

@Super guessed 10k, which would be disaster.  I am going to guess 11k which is about a 15% drop.

11k would be bad as well.  I cannot for the life of me honestly believe that the club think they will increase on 13k.  Its pretty much impossible.

Even when typing this out I think maybe Super is closer than me!  It must just be positive spin when they say it will increase.

I live in the real world and the expense of a season ticket is somthing I plan to drop due to the massive increase in heating and food and the fact wages have been frozen for 5 years now

Absolutely. I know a fair few who will do the same. I wonder what the clubs estimates are on season ticket sales. Wouldn’t be surprised if they were 10-15% down on last year

Don't be so certain people will blindly renew, I will as I have for the past 3 decades. There are plenty around me who are a little disillusioned with the club and the quality of what's being served up. For me this was a small chance to advertise a positive image and feel good factor which maybe a boost in the arm. I think we will see quite a lot of people not renewing this is just another straw.

Season ticket sales will be the lowest since we got the rebuilt stadium, surely.  The club must know that.

Or they could be very much living in the real world and struggling like hell, knowing full well that things will get even worse for them.

No doubt lots are struggling like hell. I am and I won’t be buying one.  But nobody can moan about a 2% increase, in my opinion. If someone can’t afford it then I’d suggest not buying one.

  10. Southgate has to decide between 3 or 4 at the back. I think the personnel pretty much remains whatever he does.  Just James v Bellingham in the XIs.

I think he will go with the 3-4-3.  I would do that but with Bellingham for Phillips but Southgate will pick Phillips.  These are his trusted.

                        Pickford

    Walker.  Stones.  Maguire

    James.   Rice.  Phillips.   Shaw

            Sterling.  Kane.  Foden

                         Pickford

      Walker.  Stones. Maguire.  Shaw

                     Rice. Phillips

         Sterling.   Bellingham.  Foden

                            Kane

The Club would probably be keener on making a big issue of it now, specially because we have been poor. They want to have some feel good factor around the place, in the current climate it's good news and TBF it's a two way street. Hummel would want an announcement, it's part of what they get from the deal.
Times have gone when you would only get announcements of the bigger things. The fact we have a Media Dept means everything will be bigged up and shouted about, it's the social media World.

I will try to get excited about the ‘Hummel Journey’

It's news, news is food and drink for the media department, the media department exists to get the club in the public domain, and around we go.
It's a new deal, and would be financially beneficial , why not big it up. The rest of the World does not stop , just because the team are a hard watch.

Interested to know. Would you expect complete silence from the Club until we have a good team ?

No of course not and nowhere have I implied I would expect complete silence.  Would you expect an open top bus parade for a new sleeve sponsor?!

Just announce it and move on. No need for all the images and Lansdown saying what an amazing journey we are on with Hummel.

I don't agree. I think people do care, even if only subconsciously or in passing.
Many of the "Big" names make smaller teams choose generic kits from template. We have had personal and individual designs to our preferences. That is important. I think overall they have done a good job,  the love on social media for the keepers kit was way bigger than I had imagined it could be.

Excited is probably the wrong word, but pleased, yeah.

I have to say even I have been tempted to buy recent shirts, I love the black one, and I never wear shirts.

I think, for me, it seems a bit insane to be lauding a kit maker renewal when things are so bad on the pitch. The style of announcement seems way too much
