  1. Stokes has always said he doesn’t want it but now I guess we will find out if he was just saying that at the time. If not him then Broad. There’s nobody else. Seen some people talking about Abell, who is in incredibly bad form for Somerset so an appointment like that would be truly baffling

Right now we need to stop the rot.  Should have created a road and at least got some bonus points/draw.  This looks pathetic again.

The best looking wicket isn’t even being used. Green top was not the way to go, I agree

Sorry, as I've said before, got nothing against women playing cricket or football...good on them. But I'm very much against the "batters" crap. Just call them as they are , batsmen and batswomen.. Batters play baseball and rounders. It shouldn't be beyond the ingenuity of the people who work scoreboards (as they're mostly all digital ) to change the names to suit each sex .BTW, what do they now call 12th man ?

I think you will barely notice it

I have no problems with Gloucestershire’s decision, but, for me, Sir Viv Richards will always remain one of my favourite batsmen.

How long will Short Leg or Silly whatever close fielding position remain?

It’s fine to say batsman about a male batter I reckon. Just scoreboards are changing to say batter to be more inclusive when women play

I don’t really understand the second question. As far as I know, nobody has an issue with those names.

I see that @slartibartfast and @Super aren’t fans of this. I really don’t know why anyone cares about females feeling more included in the game.  The female involvement rate is sky high nowadays which I personally think is amazing. That’s at all ages. The club I coach at now also has a female team which started last year and they have now entered a league as there are enough teams to make one.

The juniors have girls in the squad and all of the leagues in Bristol have both mixed teams and all female teams competing in them against all boys teams. All in the same league.

A bowler used to be called a bowlsman and I’m not sure there was any furore when that changed!

Cricket is the best sport in the world and should be enjoyed by all

Is impaired the right term for this ? ?

    Oops.  Compared!

See plenty of wibble on twitter about it - don't see the problem although do you start saying 3rd person rather than 3rd man positioning wise?

Either way I'm sure in a few years times when every CC ground has a full screen scoreboard it won't even be an issue!

A lot of commentators just call it ‘third’ now.

  6. Well done to Glos CCC for changing BATSMEN on their scoreboard to BATTER. I know from personal experience the amount of females now in the game  impaired to previous generations and it is great to see. Any inclusive amendment like this is incredibly welcome

We’re passively submissive, we’re just like that product in the old Honda advert we do just enough to be ‘ok’.

Well, just ‘ok’ is not good enough. The rest of the Championship are raising their game. Power, pace, leaders, winners.

So, we can just continue doing things the same old way. Funny thing is though in sport you make the same input and tend to get the same output.

So… change things. Develop some winners. You never know winning something might just give the players a desire to keep on winning. Being the best.

Nah, Bristol is too nice a place to be ruthless and develop winners. No wonder our team is full of ‘good humans’ who roll over when faced with the likes of the Millwalls of this world.

I hope and assume you aren’t involved in any youth coaching whatsoever

Watched the last 20 minutes. Reflects where we are as a Club. Second best to Mark ****** Ashton’s Ipswich.

If we want to breed winners, embed the winning mentality in the Club from the earliest ages. Don’t accept just ‘ok’, don’t accept losers. For decades that’s what we’ve done and our current first team is the product of that mentality.

I would have put the strongest possible Under-23 side out, including first teamers. With the message win every match and pick up the trophy.

So, first big opportunity for addressing the passiveness and missed.

    Sort it out management.

Did you hit your head on a redrock?

Thought our u23's are a pure reflection of the 1st team, slow, slow and slower with endless iverpassing. By my uncultured eye Barney Soady was very good, Duncan Ideho stuck to his task well, I doubt the rest will make it at championship level

That’s the beauty of kids, they improve a lot. Lloyd Kelly, Semenyo, Reid and Bryan are just some of the players in the past who some said wouldn’t make it at this level

  10. Hard, but not impossible to control the game with 45% possession.  I don’t think either team controlled it. Man City better first half, Liverpool better second. Both teams struggled against the breakaway, which suggests neither team controlled it

I don’t think many , if any , of our players have the technique or could cope with the system or the mentality to follow and provide what he demands

    Alex Scott potentially

Its unique coaching / system for the highest level - the technique and all round display by these sides is something ekse

Having said that , Both still rely on the fundamentals of desire , Team ethic and discipline

Sure he could tailor his demands to his squads limits
