Whoever mentioned the pathetic limp footed dangle is spot on!

We played a different defensive formation in and out of possession. We switched between 2/3/4/5 in possession and blocks of 4/4/2 out of possession

Pearson had to get rid of players and change the culture with very little financial support. He turned a kid into a superstar, he turned Semenyo into a goalscorer turned Vyner back into a footballer and blooded 17/18/19/20 year olds into our first team. He made the club loads of money that is now going to go to someone else, because he had the temerity to be his own man.

The thought he would be fired while we were building a team and specifically not given money is absurd. Manning is changing a culture already we now give soft goals away for fun costing points while Vyner, Bell, ConwAy among others look crap.

    yep culture change it is!

    I don't like this post....

    I LOVE this post...

Sums everything up really well  thank you...

JL and BT have an awful lot to answer for.

Come on gents, no-one still thinks the sole reason Nige was sacked was because of results, do they?

He was sacked because the Lansdowns found him difficult and intractable.

And because he hadn't appeared at training for six weeks because he couldn't walk and had no prognosis.

Now we can all cry till the cows come home, but those were the reasons. Not ******* results - we were 8th four days before he was sacked. And you think he was sacked for being 8th? A few pts off the play offs? Come on...

No-one should be dumb enough to believe that shite.

Oh you are absolutely right but those LIES were what the powers that be trotted out.

Shameful. Neither JL or BT should be anywhere near running the club.

Manning has had THREE games. Give him a chance and lets see how things pan out. If in 3 years time we are still an average Champ team then he will have done no better or worse than the previous manager

    Sorry that's rubbish.

Manning doesn't have to get rid of players, slash the wage bill, etc.

And let's not forget, it was Pearson who selected, trained, coached and motivated the academy lads to the point that our club was top of the top 2 divisions for playing home grown players.

Manning has a much easier start actually inheriting a top 6 squad....

    .....that's right isn't it?

    Agreed.

And in the PFA second division (now L1) team of the year twice.

And the PFA player of the year across all four divisions.

Some people either have short memories or just weren't around at that time.

Yes, a very good player with a superb left foot.

I was though surprised that he was selected as manager when no previous manager who he played for selected him as team captain, who normally have leadership qualities

Unless of course my memory is having another moment..

As an occasional reader and a rare poster on OTIB may I say congratulations on the quality of debate on here tonight. I’m really impressed. Also highly impressed with what I saw and heard of Liam Manning. What an intelligent guy.
As for the other 3 on the panel. Well that was a bit embarrassing. I like what Tinnion has done at the academy and his enthusiasm for it but maybe he’s made a mistake in thinking he has the ability to be promoted to duties beyond his skill set.
As for Jon Lansdown. I feel a bit sorry for him. He’s no more capable of running a business with a multimillion pound turnover and hundreds of staff than I am. But I wouldn’t put myself in that position. Surely both Steve and he know that .
Let’s just hope that Manning can carry the club and the rest will eventually look after itself .

Carry the club? What just like Nige did?

What question are you answering?  Maybe you are confused and think I wrote something that I didn’t

The bbc show 8 shots on target, they Show 10 in all

Bbc says 17 in all for the Wednesday game (I'm pretty sure 17 is more than 10?).

Bbc says 7 on target.... but as I said 2 of the off target hit the post.

I understand 8 is bigger than 7 but is that really enough to say that you could see what Manning is trying to do?

I less shot on target, but we didn't hit the woodwork, 7 less shots overall...

    You do the maths....

  7. Lies, damn lies and statistics....

Looked up the match stats on the BBC for our recent home game v Sheffield Wednesday.

    Shots - 17

    On target - 7

Now if you take into account 2 of the shots off target actually hit the post....

The answer to the op is, not that long ago.....

It's bizarre. All you see in here is browbeating about Pearson going, and comments about the Lansdowns being clowns, awful, finished at this club etc.

I have yet to find a single person, either sat around us in the SS or amongst friends, who isn't a regular on here, that feels even close to that.

The vast majority, so far as I can see, were maybe a little nonplussed at Pearson going but could see why, and quite enjoyed the most exciting game at the Gate for several seasons yesterday (first 30 minutes aside).

    Well I beg to differ.

Lots of supporters I know are still livid he was sacked, the way and the timing of it.

And the LIES that were used to justify it.

I know of three longterm supporters, myself included (62 years), who will NOT renew season tickets next year.

Ask yourself, why did Phil Alexander leave? I understand it was because money promised to PA for NP from the Scott transfer was suddenly stopped. PA resigned as a point of principle.

Crayon boy runs the club like a play thing without principles.

Just ask yourself, what experience or qualifications does a man whose never done a ******* day's work in his life have to run a football club? Daddy's money?

I have no interest in supporting a leadership with JL and BT involved.

Lastly, what sort of organisation gets it's employees to sign up to a social media site to peddle their lies and cast negativity on a manager who dragged the club up by its bootlace's, got rid of many overpaid players who should never have been bought, oversaw our club become the top club in the top 2 divisions for playing home grown talent.

    Nah, I'm done.....

Giving it a miss tomorrow, feel totally deflated by the sacking of Pearson as others have said a new manager/coach generally comes in after a really bad run etc but not the case this time. I wish LM all the best obviously but struggling for enthusiasm at the moment. I would probably take a draw tomorrow but don't see us getting anything at Southampton and Norwich home could be tricky. Nothing about Pearsons sacking and appointment of LM feels right to me. Time will tell I suppose.

I feel your pain mate. I'm going but only because I've already paid but with no real enthusiasm.

The owners have made a decision and they have now to live with it. I will shout out for the players but the owners can shove next seasons ticket money where the sun don't shine...

Quite difficult for the team to work on offensive play when two key players in knight and Sykes aren’t there, if you add in bell then potentially three key players missing.

Would imagine they won’t be back in training until Thursday, if they have avoided any injuries, so just a couple of days to get up to speed, not the best preparation for a tough fixture.

Boro may have lost players to the international break but they won’t have changed their tactics.

This is going to be a tough baptism for the new head coach.

    And Wells....

Yes difficult indeed picking and training a team with players not available.

If he needs advice about this maybe he should ring Nigel Pearson, he could tell him the best 17 year old players available to remain competitive.

I at least expect us to be competitive.....
