    He is in charge of the 1st team whatever his job title is, he has to deliver results like anybody else who is in charge. His remit is to deliver a more exciting style of football AND get results, that’s what I mean by the whole package. If not it’s on to the next reset.

    Oh and THIS SEASON or why would we change?

    Probably but a "recommendation" still puts the ball in Nige's course to decide.

    I personally wouldn't judge that window anyway as there was no money to spend until AS was sold. Cornick was a gamble and Anis on paper could have been cracking signing.

    I was just answering TV Tom's question.

    Depends on which other players were also "recommended" doesn't it?

    Something of course that we will never know...

    One thing that BT said (and repeated) that hasn't been discussed much, is he recognises the need for a mobile, strong and ideally experienced number 9 and yet we purchased Cornick who has neither of these attributes. HC still has a relatively long contract and while I expect not a very high earner, is nonetheless on the wage bill for a considerable period with little prospect of starting / contributing or fitting the profile.

    Where is the responsibility for this seemingly desparate purchase and how can we trust the current team not to make the same mistake again when they fail to find this fantasy number 9 on a lower championship budget?

    Surely we are best to loan from above like the Tammy deal - it won't be long term, but it could bring quality and a better chance of success in a key position?

    Apparently, according to BT, the coach or manager is offered a choice of 3 players identified by the recruitment team for a certain position.

    Pearson picked Cornick but we will never be told who the other 2 were will we?

    He also cost apparently £300k, so what were we expecting?

    Interesting that they’re buying for next season and essentially writing this season off.

    And by doing so totally admitting that the so called chairman and hissing sid openly lied to the fan base....

    They will reap that reward when season ticket sales comes round..

    The club is in a much better position now than under Pearson  shipping out dead wood and getting in players who will only improve

    Absolute bollocks!

    Who on earth do you think got rid of all the dead wood?

    Pearce did!!!!

    So you reckon QPR, 6 wins from 29 games are going to make up a 13 point gap & vastly inferior goal difference in their last 17 games?

    Or Sheffield Wednesday? 15 points behind & an even worse goal difference?

    Rotherham? 19 points behind & a worse goal difference still?

    Want a £100 bet on it? Huddersfield (11 points behind, also a worse goal difference than us) won’t catch us, either.

    Behave.

    I think the point is, we shouldn't be looking down, the powers that be of our football club told us to look UP!

    So how's that going?

    Under Pearson we were averaging 1.29 PPG this season, under Manning we are averaging 1.21.

    That's basically one more win over the course of a season under Pearson. So we've not regressed nor have we improved, we've stayed where we were.

    We're on to finish with 59/60 points at the end of the season, so absolutely 0 progress from last season as things stand!

    Far to simplistic I'm afraid.

    Manning has many more experienced players returning from injury, from memory...Vyner, Tanner  Williams, McCrorie, Wells, Conway just returned to bench (I'm sure there's more). Everyone would have expected progression under Nige with all the players back from injury

    If winning one game less isn't regression what is?

    If this is what was expected then there was no reason to sack Nige, none whatsoever!

    Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there any chance the Seagull is Nige (or a close friend or relative)?

    I honestly think if we had signed Erling Haaland and/or Kevin de Bruyne on loan that would be wrong in some posters' views:

    • because Nige wasn't given those funds;
    • because they won't be our player when the loan expires;
    • because they won't fit in with the Liam Manning/Brian Tinnion [delete whichever suits your argument] style of play;
    • because they will block the pathway of a wunderkind playing for our under 16s;
    • because Manning inherited a "top 6 squad" and therefore doesn't need any new signings;
    • because it's inconsistent with some random off-the-cuff comment from Tinnion or a Lansdown that the poster will remember and hold them to for ever and ever;
    • because some or all of the above means WE WERE LIED TO;
    • or lots of similar reasons but you get the gist

    Great list.... thanks!!

    I'd actually forgot one or two of those. All of those very relevant in my view especially the one in capitals..... WE WERE LIED TO.

    thanks again.....

    Ah so in a game we lost 2-0 which largely proves my point if anything

    We didn't lose at Cardiff because of that, we lost because of the injury situation!

    Just look at the team selected for that game and that should tell you why we lost. Check the bench as well...

    I don't know he was like off the pitch,but on it Louis was a great player for us and to be honest, I expect he is a little bit embarrassed about how things finished up.Not really his fault though.

    I have a lot of time for Louis but would have preferred him to have taken big John's record properly by not buggering off to Coventry!

    Very contrived in the end unfortunately...

    Well that’s a real bummer.  In my heart of hearts, I’d hoped LM would keep him around.  His exoerience, guidance of young players will be a big loss.

    Dave, what makes think this has anything to do with LM?

    Ridiculously sacked!! If after 30 months he hadn’t moved the club forward how much longer did he need? If by end of may 26 manning hasn’t moved us forward no doubt he will get the same treatment. Be interesting to see where we are this time next year

    So you "apparently" joined in 2006, and this is your first post????

    If you couldn't see the progress he made considering the shit squad he inherited, the players that had to go, the wage reduction and the brilliant way he brought through the kids from the academy.....and retained championship status, then maybe, your first post should be your last!

    He has not had to field a team like this one either. Far from it. He has a massive boost from senior players returning from injury. Minutes for the pathway talent is lost, and there is a place for just one on the bench these days. Let's see how Tinnion's pathway looks in 12 months. Looks like we will be going back to loan them out all over the place again.

    Yep, lost 2 -0.

    One 17 year old making his debut and a bench full of kids with Tommy coming back from injury.

    And yet, apparently, this loss was enough to sack the manager.

    ******* disgusting.

    We must never forget this and the powers that be must be held to account if things do not rapidly improve.
