Actually what was comedy gold was our performances against QPR and Sheffield Wednesday.

Funny how you made no comment about those games.

We all hope things improve (we are all city fans after all), but things need to improve very quickly or the crowd will turn.

    Big day Saturday me thinks

@phantom please tell me what you find so funny in this post?

I really didn't find losing or the performances comedic but that's just a personal view.

Yes, I agree. But the decision on his future (in the absence of sustained progress) is not mine or yours to make and I don't take dismissals personally- you should try it!

I suspect that for you- it depends who's in charge

So... Still no comments about the last 2 performances?

    Really not surprising.

Well, if you think BCFC losing is comedy then I think that says everything about your so say support for this club. The 'can't let go' club are very funny.

Didn't say losing was funny, I said the performances were comedic. I always want us to win, always! I will though be honest when we play shit.

What did you think of those performances?

This amused me, we'll be lucky to make 55 points at this rate.  It does feel like he was with us much longer 21/22 and 22/23 seasons were his only full seasons.

I do wonder what the stats are for new posters circa Nov 2023?

Absolutely! They work for BS, and they are full of BS!

Terrible to think isn't it that a "chairman" realises he has made such a balls up that he has to pay his employees to go on social media to support his view....

    Very Putinesq....

Let's face it, if he hadn't lamped a player he would still be here.

Interesting isn't it, I know a few people who were there and they all agreed that if they had known what was happening, they would have gone and helped him!

Manning has in no way had the injury issues that Nige had in the 3 games leading to his dismissal?  He’s always been able to field each of the 3 units with senior players throughout his time here.

it’s not about numbers, it’s about when those hit, and the impact when they did.

Sorry @Harry not buying into your conclusion that Manning and Pearson injury situation is similar.

This post from @Davefevs sums it up better than I can.

Steady on now boss. I’ve had a busy day at work so only just came back to here!
I’ve acknowledged many times that the Cardiff game was a totally impossible situation.
When I mention TGH at RB it’s in the previous 2 matches when Knight & James were both available to play in midfield. With Tanner out, TGH should really have been the next logical option.

And Pearson has already played him there 3 times so I don’t see why he wouldn’t have done so on those 2 occasions?

    100% incorrect.
I was watching MK that season as I was keen on Twine (and O’Reilly).  Nothing to do with Manning.
And I think you’ll find that on the lengthy Manning thread which started a few days before he arrived, on the early pages I was the first person on this forum to raise the concern over the appointment because I didn’t feel his style would suit our squad.

I have no particular love for Manning. I was the first to raise concerns over his appointment (as clearly evidenced in that first thread in November). I’m just of the opinion that it’s only fair to give him a fair crack of the whip, rather than want him out after 2 weeks (which some posters on here wanted and have never given him a chance).

To be absolutely clear - I was never “Manning In” but I’m now “Just give the bloke an effing chance ffs”.

So it's just the 2 games before Cardiff you are critical of....

The game before was Ipswich. Lost 1-0. I thought at the time Max could have done better with their goal to be honest. From memory, the ball came from the middle of the park and "rolled" in to Max's left. So on the opposite side to any right sided defender.

Second half we played really well and were unlucky not to take a point. Our midfield played really well.

The game before that was Coventry. We won that game......

So this is why you criticise Pearson?

I think some context needs to be applied to your posts.

James, Williams, Naismith, King wasn't it, injured for that one.

Bare Bones FC or what when we also factor no Tanner, McCrorie, Vyner, Atkinson, Roberts.

Even the relatively versatile players who could fill gaps, a lot were out and craziness like Pring CB, Sykes LB, Academy untried product RB etc.

Yes, forgot about Naismith! So bloody many. Also players having to play out of positions.

    Still no reply from @Harry

I think you need to re-read it all.
I mentioned TGH was an option at RB a number of times and didn’t backtrack on it.
It was an option that I felt NP could and should have used when Tanner was out. I still believe that. I’m not backtracking on it.

So who would have played in midfield with Knight? Without King  James and Williams? ( Cardiff away) It wasn't just the defence that was devastated by injuries.

Yes  so many injuries, but the ******** decided that was the time to sack and all the current negativity within the fan base is on them!!

9 from 23 are you sure??

It is 6 from 19 in the League and 7 from 23 which granted was tbh a nice little Cup run.

3 from 10, the final half of which was in the midst of a month long injury crisis and are you even accounting for the Fleming game. How you weighting this?

Fairly sure the Swansea game followed the Hull game so we won 4 of the last 10 anyway.

    Yes you are correct.

NP's last 10 games we beat

    Swansea

    Plymouth

    Rotherham

    Coventry

5 from 11 if you include the Fleming game.

Sorry if this doesn't fit some people narrative or memory but these are the facts.

Every time we chop and change managers, we are left with a residue of the squad who do not fit in with the new plans.  The cost of carrying these players and changing them is exceptionally high, so it seems eminently sensible to have a strand of continuity in the management structure. Tins is that man. He may not get every decision right and others may not always agree with his opinions and he will never please all the people all the time.  That does not mean that he is not making a massive and valuable contribution to the football side of the club.

No! It makes perfect sense not to sack a bloody good manager in the first place!!

On a slightly diversionary tack...my anxieties are the weakness of the board we have, seriously lacking in any footballing club management nous.

We have no recruitment philosophy it appears...if we do it is very light on experienced staff, we have no DoF, we have a rookie manager (who i so want to be successful ..who has brought a few games of real encouragement but far too many of abject performances), we have BT (technical director?) - great club servant ..does well with youngsters n needs to stay in that Dept, we have a Chair / CEO..not sure what he is but certainly doesn't inspire confidence... the board seems to have been whittled down to a few people who give me no confidence at all that they can seriously move my club forward in any substantial way.

Who in football could seriously revive this sleeping giant, and I do believe it is, would come to city after the chaos and lack of seizing opportunities seen over decades. Second rate management gives us second rate team, second rate prospects. Yes it is a rant. .

After years of supporting the team, 65 in fact, whilst I admit I did have faith in NP with RG working together, (and N P with that temporary CEO of high reputation) I now have very little faith..and am already seriously considering not renewing ST next year.. certainly won't be an Early Bird if they have the courage to offer this in the next few weeks...which I doubt! Very sad!

I totally agree with this post. Thank you.

I for one (and I know others) who have already taken the decision not to renew. I've supported City (like you), for many years, 62 and counting but I have rarely felt so disillusioned at the powers that be.

Neither JL or BT have the qualities, qualifications or experience to be in post.

Something must change, maybe SL needs to step in, regain control and put in place a few professional people who know what they are doing because the 2 mentioned above definitely do not...

Hope springs eternal.  We have a small squad and a newish manager. If we miss out this season, it will be interesting to see how the summer recruitment goes.  My main concern is the apparent lack of strength of character, but after Nige, most managers will seem that way.

Sorry to say but I for one will not be an apologist for liars.

If we are building towards the kind of team Tins described then it is not surprising that we have not finished the squad building yet. We are clearly a work in progress  although that is probably a permanent state of affairs for a selling club.

But....but... we are supposed to progress THIS SEASON!

    Or was that a lie?

    Completely agree .

My personal opinion is that Brian Tinnion has done really well for BCFC and has been instrumental in changing the reliance on new signings to a pathway for home grown talent. The first team squad  for several years is testament to this.

It's funny that a number of posters have vented their spleen about a simple predictable and inevitable change of manager as it may involve a rebuild yet , at the same time, are demanding a much much bigger rebuild for the entire club, ownership and staff.  Comedy gold.

    Mmmmm, not completely true.

Tinnion became Academy Director in October 2021. He took over from Gary Probert when he left to work with Swiss. He was the loans manager (name me one other team that has one of these?).

Players like Semenyo, Scott, Conway and others were already part of the first team squad.

This important post is now been downgraded to a part time position.

    Not cleaver surely?

Widely believed is not evidence. There was a drinking culture during the Wilson era and maybe Brian was protective of his young players. Many have spoken very highly of him and they actually work with/for him.

I think Danny Wilson's book says all you need to know about "Tins"...

Absolutely this. The timing was extraordinary. I honestly think they had totally mis read the fan base and thought it would be a popular decision.

Don't think they gave a rats ass about the opinions of the fan base.

As has already been said, they were scared that with returning injured players, things would get better.

    Shameless ******* bastards
