I don't disagree with any of that, but a defeat tomorrow isn't going to change any of it immediately, is it?

What with the pillocks we have in charge? No.

Look, something has to change, it can't go on as it is.

We either start playing football and win some games or change the manager.

Lets hope it's winning but I'm definitely not holding my breath..

Well- there we have it. A victory against Ipswich will be largely meaningless and you'd want BCFC to lose for the greater good. Madness.

What about the madness of sacking Pearson in the first place?

What about the madness of replacing him with someone who has no experience in the championship either as a player or coach?

What about the madness of having two people in charge of the club with no experience or qualifications to be in such a position?

What about the madness of not even seeing what's right in front of people when they attend games?

Get rid, all three of them and replace with people who know what they are doing....

Maybe we can help Manning by locking Tinnion in a cupboard. That way he won’t be able to pop into Liam’s office with his ‘ideas’ and ‘advice’.

Great idea  can we put Gay in there as well?

The real question is why wasn’t Nige going to be offered a new contract, considering he has done everything that has been asked of him to that point?

Why didn’t they trust Nige and Phil Alexander to get on with using some of the Scott money to invest in players?

How did they manage to lose 2 men with over 60 years’ worth of top football experience, including time at the highest level, in the space of just over a month?

Why did they think that they could cope without that experience? Was it arrogance or ignorance?

Why did they appoint an inexperienced League 1 coach with no actual success, but one sacking in just over 2 years, to replace Nige?

Why was Tinnion elevated from Head of the Academy to Head of Recruitment and then to Technical Director, when his only period as a manager ended after just over a season in League 1 with us and in failure?

How did we end up with a “board” that has only 2 people, one of whom is the son of the owner and the other was the Bristol Sport accountant? Why were all of the other board members removed over time and not replaced?

All of these questions would help explain why we find ourselves in the position we do now, with a team in a terrible run of form, playing some of the dullest football ever witnessed at Ashton Gate, from a Head Coach who is out of his depth, appointed by people who think they know more about professional football than they really do.

    Brilliant post!!!

You answered your own question though in a way but....

It was arrogance AND ignorance ...

When it comes to our fixture clashes with that side, it does appear to be us who have to move, to be inconvenienced more than them?

Can't have all those Mum's locked out of the restaurant can you?

    It's shit actually.

Mother's day next Sunday, more important than the shite being served up at Ashton gate

    Yes agree.

Does anyone know WHY we are one of only two teams playing on the Sunday?

I class 10th as still mid table albeit top end - and we could in theory still make 10th of course. I just don’t  - and didn’t - see us troubling the playoffs this season. The squad just doesn’t have the depth, the quality or the consistency needed. And because of that lack of depth, we can’t cope with injuries. And just to add, we’ve been incredibly fortunate that Vyner and Dickie have not been injured - bare bones there so could have been even worse

Vyner was injured for Ipswich at home and Cardiff away (at least). Part of the problem..

Yes it was poor, but even amongst the numerous negatives there are aways some positives, and they are:

     - We were not outplayed and looked fairly solid in midfield and defensively

    - We restricted them to a couple of chances (yes they scored from one)

    - They scored against the run of play

    - If we can improve things in the final third, we will be much better

    - we have some decent players waiting to come back who should really improve things.

You really are a dick, Top Robin my ass

Don’t post that often here but am a frequent reader, thought I’d share my thoughts as what I’d considered a balanced City fan.

For context my first season ticket was in the Danny Wilson days at 10 years old, I had become accustomed to different styles of football since then, yielding different results and a whole array of new and “improved” agendas.

To focus on our more recent history, we have had a turbulent few years where we experienced some highs and lows since being back in the championship, which under mr Pearson I had felt was trending in the right direction. I had awaited each pre match interview always excited with what Nige had to say. Arriving to each match with Nige at the helm I felt we were in safe hands and knew that all players were going to give us 100% each game and play to our strengths wherever we could.

As much as I think Liam is a likeable, tactical and potentially progressive head coach, I’m unsure this fit is what we’ve needed to achieve the next level. I feel all previous optimism has completely diminished for me, the whole team play with a different personality and for the first time in a fair few years I don’t feel at one with our club. I’m struggling to look forward to our games currently and feel something has to give with the hierarchy, I’m always going to love our club but hope it’s not just me who’s in a currently disillusioned state!

This all day long! Thank you!

62 years me, getting to the stadium and around the stadium is getting harder for me.

I would definitely have renewed if still under Nige but won't put myself through the pain to watch the crap being served up.

Renewal? It's a definite NO from me

Could be some interesting symmetry as to how this all ends- Binman crying in the director’s box (rather than the bench) after a mauling? Wouldn’t bet against it would you.

    Unfortunately Ben, no.

    Out of his head.

In 33 years before Manning had taken over I had only walked out of one game.

Since Manning taking over I've walked out of 3.

If this is what he believes we will have a lot of poor performance coming are way.

I know there are plenty of candidates for the walkout but.... may I humbly suggest 0-4 down at half time home to Leicester under SOD?

Yep. I got the sense he didn’t really want to say exactly that but it came out.

As Fevs said; and I agree, we’ve not really been trying to play Manning’s desired way for a few weeks. So there has clearly already been an element of adaptation.

If we look at the first few games, he clearly came in and tried to get us to play with much more possession. Sometimes this was good but sometimes it was slow. Too slow. But you could see that we were trying to keep the ball much more.
Problem is that these players aren’t capable of doing that consistently enough, and definitely not quick enough when under pressure.
By quick enough, this is in speed of thought and decision making as well as speed of execution.

I think LM has realised this and we have kind of reverted to type, ie our old ‘counter attacking’ manners.
Fevs’ stats will back up that we are good at pressing and winning the ball back high up the pitch and creating chances off of that.
So we’re kinda back to our old ways of being a threat when we haven’t got the ball. Which is totally counter to what LM ideally wants.

He’s no doubt realised that some of our players don’t quite have that ability to execute exactly what he wants.

This means he will (and I think to an extent already has) have to adapt. He’ll have to sacrifice his own ideologies until he can recruit (and he alludes to this in the interview today too).
When he says ‘the processes don’t change’, that doesn’t mean he isn’t adapting/altering tactically. Just means they’ll keep doing the same things on the training pitch and in the meeting room (which revolves around instilling behaviours, empowerment, decision making, overcoming barriers etc). That’s the ‘processes’ that won’t change. The actual tactics have already changed and I think he knows that he is working with a limited group in terms of trying to get what he desires.
He’s having to meet them halfway a little bit I think. Allow them to revert to type and play to their strengths.

As has been mentioned a few times lately, I did say prior to his arrival that his style of play would not suit our squad. And I think he now realises that.
What you have to be critical of is the process by which he was appointed here.

It’s very very evident from his CV exactly what type of football he wants to play.
It was also very very evident what type of football our squad are best at.
And never the twain shall meet. These 2 things are at total odds.
So it calls into question why Tinnion targeted Manning.

BT “Hi it’s Brian. We think you’re a great young up and coming coach and we think you’re the right fit for us to take us up”

LM “Great, happy to come on board”

BT “here’s our squad. We play 4 at the back and really suit a counter attacking philosophy”

LM “well, I prefer to play with a 3 and like to dominate possession and enjoy wing backs, 2 dynamic midfielders and a creative number 10”

BT “sorry. We haven’t got that. But you’re a good coach aren’t you, sort it out”

LM “why did you approach me then? You know my ideals and you know this squad doesn’t suit”

BT “We have a plan. We’re all aligned. We’re a top end squad. We’ve got great chance of success. get on with it, I know what I’m doing”

Read your post and didn't know wether to laugh or (figuratively) cry.

Just makes me so bloody mad the mad, bad situation the chuckle brothers have put the club in.

From a relatively stable club to this!

They really couldn't have made a bigger balls up if they were ******* gas!!

A minimum 4 wins so we better the 15 we have achieved in each of the past 3 seasons.

16 more points to better last season's 59

    So from 12 games that's 4 wins 4 draws & 4 defeats

Anything less is abject failure and should lead to exiting Manning

Better tell Mr Gay then eh?

Most of the very pro Nige stuff would not have happened if some stupid posters hadn't tried to be sarcastic and made it into an anti Pearson thread.

Sorry if some people worry about a past employees health....

@italian dave. I posted this earlier in the thread but it didn't stop people changing the rational for the thread in the first place did it?
