Despite all the positives last night we were again ultimately undone by woeful distribution in the final third. Dead ball or in play City's inability to clear the first man, pick out a team mate, avoid passing to space, avoid over-hitting the pass or even managing to keep the thing in play - what stats are there to show where City compare with others in the EFL? I find it difficult to identify who City's worst culprit in this respect as they all appear equally inept at playing a final, quality pass. Puzzling given they all play decent football in getting to that point. Probably also something to do with positioning and movement of strikers in the box but its incredible how few decent chances we create compared to those possession and positioning suggest we should.

Maybe this answers some supporters question as to why Kal Naismith, a centre half,  takes corners and free kicks?

Thank you for your comment, but I'll respectfully have to disagree.

PS If you can predict the future, please can you tell me this Saturday's winning lottery numbers.

    I can predict the future.....

Ian will moan and groan about something whatever the result tomorrow.

    Negativity is his middle name....

I wouldn't be fussed if Martin never pulled on a City short again and, as I replied to someone else earlier in this thread, it was said in the context of referring to some who said on here perhaps Weimann is less effective because the very successful W-S-M of last season has been dismantled. On the second point, we are repeatedly reminded that we cannot afford loan players which leaves us trying more kids as the only remaining option.

Pearson seems wedded to a particular formation which I believe is replicated in the U21s but I believe he ought to try something different like this: [he won't of course]

    Bentley

    Tanner  Klose Atkinson Pring

Vyner Scott Williams Naismith [or JD]

    Conway  Wells

Its a basic 4-4-2 ; Vyner has played central midfield ; Naismith has played wide left many times in his career and whilst injured JD can fill in although his crossing is crap!

Well if the podcast is in anyway reflective of your team selection then I may have to listen......haven't had a good laugh in a while...

It’s clear that this podcast divides opinion but if it’s not your bag then just ignore it…..everyone is entitled to opinions and everyone has a choice.

Yes, I agree but it's interesting isn't it that they consider their comments to be soooo important that other's should hear them!

I will never ever listen to this, after all, it's bad enough listening to Ian bloody Gay's negativity on the way home on radio Bristol!! Seems, once again, he feels his opinion MUST be heard every week!

Ian Gay, the best manager BCFC never had.....

Losing all those players (bar Semenyo) next summer will probably mean about £5.5m-£6m off the wage bill.

Offloading Kalas, HNM, Bentley, Dasilva, Wells, Martin & Klose would be 7 out.
With the money saved, we could easily replace them with 4-5 signings + 2-3 season loans to see us through next season, whereupon the financials will be better.

But, you gotta start that recruitment process now. Get ahead of the curve. Know what’s leaving, know what your system is for next season, know what you need to bring in, start speaking to the agents of other out of contract players, start speaking to the prem clubs about loans, start speaking to the league one clubs and agents about the top young players in that league.  It all needs to be happening right now, setting it all up for next summer.

Looks easy eh? But how many players will have made up their minds yet? How many will wait until the last minute, play their cards close to their chests? No doubt have agents looking for better deals?

I'm definitely with you in principle, just not sure how practical it is both in and out transfers.

I was in line with it and it looked absolutely miles offside, lino on that side was an absolute disgrace all game as was the ref.

I was also in line and can also confirm definitely offside. The first one was a bit iffy but the second was definitely offside.

Keeper also handled the ball outside the box and dived into the box, should have been a free kick.

Officials were bloody awful to say the least

Said this previously , totally agree with you

Id have liked SL to have assembled  the players the following morning after Plymouth and told them , anyone who wanted out to speak up and put it in writing and he would ensure it happened ASAP as Gary Johnson wasn’t going anywhere

    He’d earned that IMHO

    Absolutely!!!!

Some mates of mine who were there said if they knew what was happening they would have gone and helped him!

‘Overachieved’ is the ideal word to describe GJ - in fact you’re right that his style of man management wouldn’t be tolerated in the Championship or L1 these days.

He’s managing players these days who probably haven’t experienced many other managerial styles in their careers and are therefore likely to put up with GJs vocabulary and behaviour - they may even think that it’s way every manager goes about his job.

Well if he "overachieved" then Wilson definitely underachieved

I certainly don’t forget dreary crap GJ served up……………:disapointed2se: That turgid and pedestrian style along with his tendency to irritate and call out players and waffle in his interviews whilst laughing at his own jokes, saying nothing meaningful are all reasons why I never rated him.

These days he’s managing at the appropriate level for his skill set.

Oh and the fact he had you in his office and you totally bottled it when he asked you if you were Robbored on OTIB!

Courage of your convictions? I think not....

Undoubtedly under Nige and his coaches they would have developed far better essentially because Nige is a proper manager who has all the skills necessary to get the best out of not just players but all the staff at AG.

As a player Pearson was a leader and captain of the Owls who took them to winning the old League Cup as was and even today the Wednesday fans remember him very affectionately.

He’s always been a guy who earns respect - not something that can be said about either of the Johnsons or Cotterill for that matter and Danny Wilson had the same qualities and I maintain that DW and Nige were proper managers and it’s no coincidence that the two of them were team mates at Sheffield Wednesday.

In which case why didn't Wilson develop his players and gain promotion from the THIRD division?

Look, you can have a love in with Wilson all you like but as the vast majority of posts on here will say he failed, nice bloke but failed.

Gary Johnson, by far the best manager in my time watching city. Followed by Lee Johnson.

Danny Wilson had a ridiculous squad, but couldnt get promoted. Failure to have Lita on the bench, for the play-off final was craziness. The only thing you can call him, is a proper failure. The idea we played great football, was nonsense too. We just had very good players.

Exactly this with the exception that Alan Dicks was by far the best for me but GJ was second

Play off final and (if my memory serves me right) not one shot on target

    It's a failure from me I'm afraid
