Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...really not a good day for BRFC even by their own low standards, maybe they were attempting to bury bad news with more bad news!

Application to turn barns into residential use at The Colony has been refused by SGC. No ecological surveys were submitted. Now I'm no expert in planning but Ecological surveys are a pretty basic requirement.

Is that the barn doors they have been using for target practice?

  2. UK Planning Permissions for Temporary Buildings

Temporary warehouses and industrial tents can be used without planning permissions in the UK if they are used for a very short duration only. This can be until 28 days at a given location, and there are exceptions to this. Exceptions take the size, position and building reason into consideration. If the buildings are in use for a longer period that 28 days one usually needs to apply for a semi-permanent or a permanent permission.

My answer was a touch tongue in cheek.

I started going to Eastville in the 73/74 season and about 5 years after that Rovers were full of plans to move to Stoke Gifford. then Mangotsfield, then Avonmouth  and a whole host of other sites I can't even remember. I have seen more Evening Post front pages with an artist's impression of what Rovers new stadium 'could look like' than I care to remember so you will forgive me that whenever there is talk of a new stadium/investment, I don't get too carried away . I do confess that I did fall for it when Nick Higgs appeared in his hard hat and high viz on site claiming everything was 'watertight', which was when you consider it wasn't too long before that the same bunch were actually going to let us go to Cheltenham (and pay for the privilege) to choose our new seats was pretty dumb of me.

I quite like The Mem, people can take the piss all they want, but I think it is in a great location and the Blackthorn End is a great bit of terracing so I am way past caring if we get a new ground or not. All I care about is meeting up with mates for a few beers, the chance of a bit of excitement ( and Rovers under DC have played some entertaining stuff) and the odd good away day.

Your ambitions have finally been downgraded Miah :(

The OP on here said "No steward has the authority to open an exit gate ..." - I was just clarifying that it was not solely an exit gate, there are larger gates which are  only opened at the end of the match where exit can be accessed by all supporters.

Still sounds dodgy to me

But you haven`t seen the real reason for the official attendance being so low. One of the new state-of-the-art turnstiles wasn`t working properly so a steward had to manually check tickets and let people in through a gate.

One of the deluded fools on asschat has actually said that he thinks this was the reason the published attendance was so low!

No steward has the authority to open an exit gate. Sounds like more gas Bull5hit, unless someone at the Memorial Ground is on the fiddle. Surely not ?

The worst thing is a quick google find at least two companies that supply temporary stands that at least don’t have a pillar every 6 foot. Perhaps the red seats put them off

Not sponsored by our council tax payers money this one. Bristol Energy can whistle for my business now ?

  7. Well, Coventry have sold all of their tickets, I wonder if the blue few can do the same for the "Battle of the Sleeping Giants" ?

Coventry City fans are reminded that this Saturday's away game against Bristol Rovers is a sell-out and that there will be no tickets available on the day

The match takes place this Saturday 22nd September, with a 3pm kick-off at the Memorial Stadium.

Our full allocation of 1,141 tickets sold out last week, with no more tickets available to us either in advance or on the day.

I believe that Rovers have applied for a preseason friendly against our under 12’s but we’ve rejected it because we take preparation for the new season seriously and We don’t want to be caught out by the level that other clubs’ under 12 teams are capable of.

    If the U-12s played it might end up like this! (Warning.....contains offensive language!);
