  1. I wasn’t expecting him to play any part yet. He hasn’t had a proper pre season and although he’s been training hard, on his own through the summer, it’s not going to get you Premier league match ready.

And it’s not like the Burnley players are looking for a rest, they’ve only played 3 games.

He’ll have to be patient but there’ll be opportunities as the long season gets going

Surprised we still have quite a few tickets remaining given the member offer. Hopefully majority of season ticket holders actually attend this one - the empty seats in the supposedly sold out South stand are frustrating.

Frustrating. Basically all member offer tickets sold out now. A group of 3 of us wanting to go, but all individual seats left in the Dolman. We'd have to cough up nearly couble to sit one block further into the Dolman. We'll probably skip it to be honest

This is why the club should do something to try and free up seats that aren’t going to be used for whatever reason, in the south stand it’s usually because the seats belong to children that rarely go.

I don't know if it was especially brilliantly run before either tbh, how many clubs would give their spiritual end with the best acoustics to away fans (yes I know all-seater etc)! East End, 1994...new home end Atyeo.

Those who have supported us for longer than me or a long time, when were we last run to a high standard.

Crikey, there always seems to be trouble brewing, certainly in the first division days which ended in disaster.

After that felt good with Terry Cooper having about 7 roles but they had no money so few choices to be made.

Maybe in Scott Davidson’s early days or Lansdown’s early days.

I’ve no real idea just how things felt as a fan looking in from the outside

Do you know what?  I actually don’t want to hear from SL.  I’m not really interested in what he has to say these days.

Pretty much every time I hear him speak, he goes lower and lower in my estimation.

    There. Said it! ???

I’m not gonna lie, It’s not the job interview opening line I was expecting.

  5. Really looking forward to this one. Certainly a derby feel for me as a large number of customers where I work are Plymouth and know I'm City.

A good team to watch, surely there'll be goals in this one and a big night game following from South Devon.

They've given every team they've played a tough game so far, including high flying Preston, where they took 3000 fans on a 10 hour plus round trip.

A first home win would taste very sweet.

  6. I was having a walk in the hills just behind Cannes back in June when a security man stopped us walking any further as we were going near the grounds of the Château (de la Croix des Gardes)

When we said we’d walked past before no problem he said Thibaud Courtois’ wedding was taking place.

Looking at that clip I kinda wish I had stumbled across their honeymoon.

  7. Sorry for your loss @And Its Smith It’s great you’ve got so many lovely cricketing memories of you and your dad and now you and your son are creating the same.

I always get sad when it’s the end of the football or cricket season.

The cricket season especially, I suppose it’s worse because it’s a long time until we meet again, over 6 months compared to 3 for football. Plus that long 6 1/2 months are winter months.

Its even sadder when county cricket is so disjointed nowadays. Instead of long summer’s with regular catch ups at Taunton with cricketing friends, it’s now all or nothing. Too much in April when if it’s like this year isn’t the long days sat in the warm sun that you were hoping for and very little in late July and August.

Unlike @And Its Smith my dad had no interest in sport, instead it was my grandad who took me in those heady late 70’s days that got me hooked for life. He’s been gone 40 years now but I have loads of memories of Taunton, W-S-M and Bath.

Even back then I can remember thinking that even though being old wouldn’t be that nice, retirement and watching cricket all the time would be fantastic. I would say to him as I was off to school and he was off to cricket to watch Richards, Garner, Marshall, Holding and all the other best players in the world, how lucky he was.

Now as my retirement is not many seasons away, that’s pretty much all been stripped away. But it’s still my favourite sport and I’ll still enjoy what we’ve got left and I’ll still remember my grandad shouting “lovely grub” and “run em up” in the autumn of his life, which coincided with the golden days of county cricket and especially Somerset.

On a slightly separate note, I was just looking at our 2014-15/squad. I'd forgotten how prolific a scorer Aden Flint was. With a record of nearly 1 in 4, he was our second-highest goalscorer, ahead of Kieran Agard. Amazing really

The games against Bradford and Walsall would be up there as best performances but you'd have to look at the quality of the opposition

Yep, he got a hatrick in my second game too, against Cov (5-0)!!!

If you have to pick a team that actually played a match, that 76 game v Arsenal, from the highlights, seems about as good as any of us living will have witnessed.

Digressing slightly, the Jordan team of 89/90 was one of my favourites and in terms of a single game, the 5-1 victory against Fulham at home over Easter was amazing.  We were so good in attack I can only recall off the top of my head the front 6….

    Shelton and Rennie in CM

Gavin and Smith on the wings

and Taylor and Turner….no, Ferguson and Morgan up top.

Not sure who was in goal, Llewelyn at RB, Bailey at LB, Newman CB.

Oh yeah, loved that Fulham game. We were in the open end. Cracking easter game.

    Loved that tean too.

    My first game:

swap Collier in for Rodgers and Cheesley for Royle and that would be tidy.  I preferred Shaw over Cashley.

Harsh on Royle! He’s got the winner against Liverpool in your first game and you’ve binned him off…..

Not having Cheesley for more than one and a half top flight games is a burden all us fans of a certain age will always have. What might have been.

Although I was a huge fan of Norman Hunter, if I had to pick a team on a certain day it’d have to be the away to Arsenal team.

    It's at the same time

I don't understand why we have one squad playing a series against New Zealand then the following week a different squad playing Ireland in another series

Oh bugger, I didn’t read it properly I thought it was a late call up for the NZ games.

Oh well at least we’re just about safe from relegation. A season that never got going really except in the T20 where we were unbelievably good and a much deserved trophy.

Sorry, I could have been clearer. A delay caused by the game finishing late, such as at WBA where there were multiple delays (serious medical incidents involving away/home fans and the Baker injury). Not the rail company responsibility

You can get split tickets using just off peak day returns instead of Advance savers. ie. Bristol to Cheltenham, Cheltenham to  Coleshill Parkway, C P to Leicester.

That way you can get any train returning that day, you just maybe won’t get a seat for all the journey.

Has anyone been to the olive shed on the harbour? I walked past it the other day and the food looked quite nice, might pop in for lunch next time im passing

Crikey that’s been going for a long time now.

I used to go there quite often when I lived in Bristol some 20 years ago. It was about the only thing around there at the time, now there’s all sorts around.

Always enjoyed it on a summers evening, especially 2003 which was a boiling hot summer in Bristol. Good to see it’s still going strong.

I was fearing the worse, it just felt one of those occasions made for a bad batting performance and bad it was, along with some very good bowling.

We often rally in our second innings but this match will take some saving, especially with the forecast set fair

It felt like the script in this game was written from the moment Hants won the toss and batted.

You could see a poor batting performance from us coming up with us rallying to a decent fourth innings total in the 4th innings of the match.

And also as predicted, although they did fairly well in the first innings, our second string bowling line up were never going to take 20 wickets in the match.

2 weeks now until our next and final home game, hopefully we’ll have Overton, Davey, Aldridge and maybe Leach back for that and finish our home campaign on a high.

  16. 10 years to the day since we last played them in any form of competitive football.

Over 22 years since we last played them in a league game.

We went from 1963 to 1981 without losing to them.

I can never make my mind up if I miss the derby games or happy we’re always above them.

My favourite games, at Eastville for the one nil down two one up cup match, when we were in a division below.

The Louie Donowa one nil victory at AG , the first time we’d beaten them for what seemed like ages, about 8 games I think.
