It all comes down to whether you like life or not, I get up most days and I'm unhappy. Through mistakes in life, I have few friends, family is not close, and if it weren't for the animals who depend on me, I would have ended it this last 6-9 months. I've battled depression for years. I've battled other things as well. I've watched everything good in life evaporate and I guess not everyone has things to be happy about.

It's not always about wanting help, it's not always about thinking things can be better. Sometimes things happen in life, which make life not enjoyable, and no matter what you do, things hold you back. People are so judgemental in life and don't know the hell you've been through and even if you make a mistake, you can't get away from it. People judge and talk and taunt you and it leaves you permanently at rock bottom. You don't want to go out and do things, as you don't want people to see the wreck you've become, you read what people say without knowing the truth and the world judges.

I'm at peace with life, I enjoy my work, although it doesn't do a lot for me, and I have more animals than friends. In fact I would say aside of people who I chat to on line, who many I've physically never met, I don't have any real friends. So I do 100% mean it. I won't miss the world, and the world wont miss me.

I can live with that. Too many people aren't open with how they feel. There is no shame in saying you would rather be dead, the fact is, many people talk you out of it, thinking it will be better for you, sadly it really isn't.

Life isn't always about simple things, for some people stuff happens and people are quick to put you down, as MJ once famously, "just because you read it in a magazine or seen it on a TV screen don't mean it's factual, but everybody wants to talk all about it".

A good few years ago, I got myself in a mess, through trusting others, in return I let most people down I knew and were friends, I made matters worse for myself, and imploded. I made mistakes, and paid heavy for them, but you can never escape them. You read things which are untrue and no matter how much you wanna scream out, it makes no odds.

I'm not saying I'll kill myself today, I mean I have parents who are elderly and I would never put them through that, as other family who rarely speak to me will never forgive me. I also have animals who depend on me, and I have bookings in work until March next year that need to be honoured, so I wont do anything soon, but there will come a point, where I will do what I wish I done a long time ago.

I appreciate, that this may not be an easy read and many wont understand but I don't want sympathy, I don't want help, I just don't want the run down smashed up life I have and spend every day having to fight a corner, which no one knows anything about.

I would have got a cleaner break if I killed someone. The world moves on, but life doesn't.

We don't all have a nice life, that's just the way it is.

Thanks for the honest and very frank reply, I must admit I found that hard to read.

We’re all human and make mistakes, nobodies perfect. You mist enjoy something in life no matter how small though I’m sure? I assume that cause your on this forum your a fellow City fan and enjoy football and hopefully the wider sporting world?

You sound like you enjoy animals. If so why don’t you try and get more involved with that and perhaps looks to change careers if you gain more enjoyment that way?

I hope you find some happiness in life and can turn around what sounds like a very dark situation at present. Please always remember tomorrow is a new day with a blank canvas.

I wish you all the best. Take care.

This is a surreal thread reading OTIB regulars talking about my locals 10 years to the day since I moved to the area.

A lot has changed but there is still an edge here.

Hobgoblin @WolfOfWestStreet used to be a proper boozer now gentrified to **** called the Rose and eye watering prices. But probably the easiest place as a Bristol City fan to get a drink before the Millwall game. Even seen City shirts in there in previous seasons on match days. Not my choice but easy place to recommend.

Marquis of Granby @Red-Robbo hasn’t changed at all but no live music (that’s New Cross Inn opposite) and full of students so biggest trouble at the moment is misgendering someone. Landlord is lovely bloke and got a job lot of Addlestones out of nowhere about 2 years ago so popped in quite a bit until it ran out.

Venue @Mr Popodopolous yes now closed down, temporarily opened a large bar in the building after Covid dedicated to street art so felt more like a Bristol thing but that’s also now stopped. Used to remind me of Odyssey, an absolute monster of a club but can’t say I enjoyed the music much and dangerously under age.

White Hart flirted with being a strip club then reinvented itself as an ultra gentrified independent pub that attracted all the right on people in the area and had a 6am license to run breakbeat DJ nights. Had rhubarb cider on tap. Developer built one flat above it who instantly complained about the noise and got it shut down.

Amazing area when you consider Skehans is currently rated by Timeout as number one pub in London. I know the Irish landlord Bryan and used to drink in there after getting back from City games all the time, had a wonderful lock in culture with some old Millwall boys, but now so painfully popular it’s difficult to enjoy it.

The last remaining proper boozer here is Five Bells my local and favourite and probably resembles all the stories rolled into one. Proper Millwall pub and always something kicking off in or outside but absolutely lovely people and some real characters. Bit of banter about football but also somewhere people know your name and say hello.

Unfortunately Strongbow on tap but the Landlord got a ten pack of Gold on Thursday and proceeded to work through it with me this week ahead of the game. The pub is probably the safest place in New Cross because the locals look after it and one another, outside however I’ve seen it all. Shootings, beatings, runaway mobility scooter.

But what a place as per video below - not much to look at and packed with Millwall until late last night, but karaoke in full swing, eclectic mix of people and one of the last proper locals you will find in South London, not all this gentrified over priced nonsense. One of the reasons I love away games is many more real pubs up North.

I’ve heard worse karaokes as well. She’s half decent

The game at Ipswich over Christmas time when we lost 2-1. Abraham scored for us, LJ blamed Moore and absolutely hammered him for it. Players there on that night said they’ve never seen anything like it, Moore was due to go to MK dons on loan then LJ sent him to Bury as punishment.

Taylor Moore is a great lad and always tried his best, I wish him nothing but success. I’m ashamed by how he was treated by LJ on numerous occasions.

@Bcfcshags I was told by another players dad that Moore went in for a end of season review after being at Cheltenham under Gary Johnson and Lee Johnson basically told him he was a disgrace of a footballer and didn’t deserve to be a professional. Any truth is that?

    Which bit?

Re 1st Aug, maximising his 1-month severance payout from us.

    How does this work then?

Contract expires 30th June but if they don’t sign for another club we pay them a further months redundancy money as such and then they can sign for another club from the 31st July?

  6. Today should be a good watch. Weather after noon looks to be getting worse with rain and wind. Should sort the men from the boys. Keep an eye on Matthew Jordan. This is his home course and he’s played in thousands of times in the rain. He’s also playing quite well so far. Matthew Southgate is another to keep an eye on.

Needs Harman to come back to the field which I think he will. The yanks are used to playing in these conditions as they usually have electrical activity in the states when it rains so come off for safety etc.

Least the golf will continue unlike the cricket today sadly it appears.

  7. What a day.

Bat till lunch tomorrow with some aggression (wickets in hand) try and get 200 plus ahead and then have a go at them. Pitch staying low and cracking. Saturday looks a wash out b it Sunday is looking better.

The light wasn’t an issue tho. It was purely that they stop at 6:30

I know but what I mean is why would Australia want to? Nothing in it for them. They want to bat aslong time wise as possible as they have the huge advantage of being 2-1 up and knowing England need a result and that the weather is going to help them.

In essence they’d much rather be sat in the pavilion than batting for obvious reasons.

Really don’t know why they don’t play on in this weather

Why would the Aussies want to? Draw is fine for them, we’re the ones who need to chase the game.

They’d take the light if given if it gets gloomy second innings…
