Martin functioned well as an out ball and I’m pretty sure Conway and Wells were blowing. So happy enough with that. Agree regarding the right backs, think Tanner might’ve been the man as he likes getting stuck in and defending aggressively. But hard to be glum tonight, so no complaints from me!

Tanner looked pretty fecked off at the end, you could sense he though he should have got on the pitch 2nd half

Sykes for me. What a player he looks. Was it a red? From the top of the lansdown I couldn’t tell.

I’d say do - Was right in front of us, definitely late challenge & a red.

But surprised Freeman got away with a yellow for his violent conduct but I think Sykes might have made as be more of it to deflect from his tackle.

Apart from that Sykes was superb & really impressed by him so far.

The solar panels will pay for themselves but the battery is a waste of both money and resources.

    What makes you think that?

I thought a battery on the Solar is the way to ensure you get you use what you generate, that is if you’re household and are out all day for work & school etc

Like millions of others I really enjoyed the fantastic performance of the England women’s team in the final of the European championship; and one of the additional upsides was the outstanding insights/punditry of Jonas Eidevall. Now, I didn’t know he was but the more I listened the more he impressed me with his razor sharp insights and tactical awareness. It wasn’t some PowerPoint type bullshit but really smart observations of how play was being and could be affected.

Now my point is that Ian Wright as co-pundit had nothing like this level of tactical intelligence , albeit having been a superb player. He was clearly impressed by Eidevall and was sometimes like a kid in a classroom listening to an engaging, new young teacher. Equally, Nigel Pearson doesn’t strike me as a person with this grasp of the game. Yes, he was a top defender but it doesn’t mean he can communicate, motivate or inspire. Of course Klopp was a defender who didn’t play at  the same level as Pearson.

when I hear Pearson interviewed to preview the game the same pattern unfolds. ‘Yeah important game, need to play consistently, some need to concentrate, some are letting us down. We need to play for 90 minutes. I’m employed by the club and we ain’t got no money and my loyalty is unquestioned

The post match interviews are the same. We are now getting the rueful chuckle, as if it’s really nothing to do with me… we should have played with consistency, some don’t concentrate, some let us down and we ain’t got no money. PS I’ll let you know when players are ready to return from injury so don’t be impertinent.

Yes, punditry is different from managerial tv interview but at no point do you sense that his love or passion for the game breaks through with illustrations of tactical intelligence, observations, new ideas.
My reading of it is that he just can’t do it.

I think  his appointment was seen as a way of reestablishing discipline, selling the idea of no money to the fans, creating the impression of a safe pair of hands. A No nonsense disciplinarian.

I don’t think it’s working. I hope he proves me wrong for the sake of BCFC who I have supported since 1968.

I’m not Pearson out by any means but you make a good point, we should expect more insight from the man in charge.

At times he comes across as though he doesn’t love the game but he’s good at his job so we should just leave home alone to get on with it & the interviews are an inconvenience.

But results suggest he’s not nailing the day job so therefore he really should elaborate on the interviews.

I mentioned this higher up, they aren’t “fitted” but they do come up slightly smaller than a traditional size.

They definitely have some size labelling errors on batches of the Robins shirts - we got a Y2XL clearly not right size, took it into the shop they got another Y2XL out & it was right size - held up against each there was a very clear size difference.

    So it's ok you probably haven't pie'd out, it's just miss-printing by Hummel ;)

Hi, Sadly had to change my plans now :( I've been told I have to work on Saturday! Despite it meant to be my weekend off, and then told if I decided that my "social life" was more important than my job, that someone would probably happily have my job .....

What type of work are you in?

Virtually every business I know have been struggling to employ people so I doubt your employer has as much leverage over you as they might like to believe.

    Cry harder.

Via Wynes & Nicholas, Environmental Research Letters the below would (per person taking action) save the specified number of tonnes of CO2 per year. ..

    • Have one less child, 58.6
    • Live car free, 2.4
    • Avoid one transatlantic flight, 1.6
    • Buy green energy, 1.47
    • Switch electric car to car free, 1.15
    • Eat a plant based diet, 0.82
    • Replace typical car with hybrid, 0.52
    • Wash clothes in cold water, 0.25
    • Hang dry clothes, 0.21
    • Recycle, 0.21
    • Upgrade light bulbs, 0.1

13,000 less bits of foam isn't going to change the world buddy. How much of the other stuff above are you willing to give up? Your regular flights alone look like they're probably worse than the foam used for every STH combined.

You make some brilliant points - the club and sponsors can also make smarter decisions on packaging, bit by bit the use of unnecessary plastic and carbon footprint diminishes and it happens by people raising aspects like you & the OP have.

It will influence the corporate decision makers & give them something to consider in their meetings when consumers show their dissatisfaction. Trust me this stuff does get through & in current climate crisis no business can ignore their responsibilities.

Hubboo the UK largest e-commerce logistics platform - if they take note the impact becomes so much greater.

BCFC - hopefully they can see we don’t need corporate landfill Knick-knacks so they can in-future save money, carbon & reduce landfill.

Or as @Pezo says let’s go digital passes with cards for those that need them.

At the end of the day we are all responsible.

Christ. Don't know why the club ******* try.

It's a gesture. Seemed a nice thought to me. If your'e that bothered about landfill go moan to Hallmark and Clinton Cards about the amount they cause to go to waste on cards, singing cards, pin badges, etc.

They just need to stop and think! 12,000 pcs of unnecessary foam that will take 1,000 years to break down in landfill or get burnt into the atmos.

it really annoys me that companies still do thoughtless crap like this.

With regards to the businesses you mention all are in serious decline as consumer behaviour has already changed and they haven’t.

  10. A lot of pessimism on here, fair comment too based on our results.

I feel the opposite, last season wasn’t as bad as the results would suggest. Had we not conceded late in the Blackpool opener the season would have played out differently, that I’m convinced of - we were playing well but had the confidence issues spilling over from the previous seasons and a dressing not pulling in same direction under Pearson - confidence was our Achilles heel.

We’ve moved on Palmer, COD, Bakinson - ideally we move Vyner & Wells but they’ll be involved in the squad as adequate back up if there’s no options to move.

The core of the remaining squad played through all that last season & finished well; all those here know what Pearson expects.

Scott, Pring, Semenyo, Tanner, Atkinson, Conway, Aymen* & HNM all have another years solid experience and majority will only get better this season.

Hopeful Williams will get a full season without injury & Semenyo quickly back to full fitness.

The additions of Naismith & Wilson are clearly targeted & look to add strength. Couple more signings would be good.

Sykes not sure yet but can’t be any less effective than COD had become but with potentially to offer more.

I like that we’ve added Jason Euell to the coaching team, he’ll be a positive factor.

Based on all that we’ll do better than most  expect us to, become a difficult team to beat & with a potent front line when WSM are fit and firing.

No point predicting the exactly what place we’ll end up as it’s the championship but I believe we’ll really enjoy this season, regardless of where we finish.

You got a free keyring....what more do you want? ?

    Yeah! Blumming entitled millennials ?

Key ring and a £10 voucher, don’t they know the days of wild spending have passed and that Pearson had to be persuaded to sign off the key rings instead of Rudoni.
