Rovers blaming there shit attendances on matches being all ticket. But when it's not all ticket there attendances are still shit . Deluded strokers .

Why would that drastically affect the attendance? Ok, it'll stop a few people who only know last minute if they can attend but it doesn't knock thousands off the crowd.

Big game at home, a week after spanking someone 6 nil away and they still only manage 8k home fans. We were on TV last night against a team that brought about 50 fans and we had over 18,000.

    Mind the Gap.

Fair play to the blue few, 6-0 away from home albeit against 10 men. Have we ever done that? Or better against 11 men?

Yeah but they would've taken thousands more to Valley Parade than us cos they're like the Leeds Utd of L1 when it comes to away support. That's really what matters at the end of the day....

they got promoted to the 2nd division in 1974 two years before we hit the big time, they must have gone above us at least once in two seasons

Yeah, just checked that myself

You could be right, they probably did at some point in those 2 years so this could be the longest we've been above them since they joined the Football League.

    I'll drink to that.

as the gap nears the 17 year mark, got me wondering have we ever been above them for so long in our history?

    Yes.

20 years at one point from the 60s through to the early 80s and obviously the 22 years we were in the football league before their circus arrived.

This Forum is beginning to sound and behave using the tactics that Millwall fans used to employ. For those youngsters who started supporting after the hooligan era, I'll explain. One Millwall fan would assume the attire of a Rovers fan and then get into the Tote End. For about 20 minutes of the match he would act and pretend to be a Gashead. Then, out of the blue, they would start punching and hitting all those around them. The confusion this created made Gasheads start fighting other Gasheads in the ensuing mayhem. So, one solitary idiot caused a major upset. That is what is happening here on this Forum. I suspect a Sh1thead has probably infiltrated us and is constantly spreading stupid rumours about takeovers, the financial concerns about the Al Qadi family, their family rifts etc. etc. NONE of us has any real idea what happens behind the closed doors of a board meeting. Maybe someone connected to the directors is leaking little tit bits every now and then (as with WW2 espionage.....release a few truths to give it credibility and then add loads of lies that you want to spread) but why can't we all just get behind our team. We have probably the best manager in League 1 (and probably the Championship!) We have a team of players who want to play for the Blue and White Quarters and , thankfully, we have a huge following of true Blue fans who get behind the team every week. So, can the moaners and the lie mongerers just give it a rest. You are playing into the hands of the Teds, who know we are coming up on the outside and they are running so scared they will employ any tactic to try to drag us back. When I started viewing this Forum is was useful, interesting, funny and well, everything you want in a fans Forum. Now, however, I log in, see the usual boring (We're doomed!!') topics. The longest I've spent on this Forum recently is now, writing this. Come on, let's get back to issues that are true and positive. Don't give the Teds any ammo to stir things up.

Presumably that's today's belter from Slagchat?

"a huge following of true blue fans who get behind the team every week"....ha ha, Bollocks.

"we've been infiltrated by pesky shitheads blah blah blah, we're coming up on the rails, they're running scared" etc...:rofl2br:

How any rovers fan thinks we are scared of them is beyond me!

    I dunno?

Ive just seen a load of them at the Mem on the Points West 8pm bulletin shovelling pies down their grids.

If they start winning prizes for their pies again we might as well just ******* give up.

REALITY BITES!!!!! http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/10842/gas-financial-trouble This thread is on page five of denials after just 12 hours.

Not one to spread rumours, but I understand that rumours are circulating within the Bristol football community that all is not well at the Mem. Sources have told me that Dwayne Sports do not want to spend any money on the club and expect us to make profits. If any of this is true, then I can now understand why we pulled away from the UWE Stadium project. There are also rumours of conflicts within the Al Qadi family regarding the spending of money on Bristol Rovers. Hope none of this is true, but with many asking why Chinese people were at the game with Plymouth on Saturday makes me wonder if the Al Qadi take over has gone sour and the family are now looking at options to pull out! Seems like we are back in a mess, AGAIN!!!!

To be fair, he was probably talking about their trip to Wembley against Shrewsbury.

Even the gAss would have done well to take 45000 to the Conference play off final BEFORE they were relegated.

They didn't take 45k against Shrewsbury either.

Listening to the whole show now, perfect background as I hunt a new job .

I had a listen, great memories....proper laughed out loud at some of the callers. I tried skipping through a lot of the tweets and interviews with people like the Dopemaster, GJ etc.

I don't know if my memory is failing me but didn't a City fan phone in and pretend to be a Gashead. I'm sure I remember him and his mates cracking up half way through his fake rant? I dunno if I skipped through it by accident or if I dreamt it?

Either way, what a great show. Can't pick my favourite call but it's between the bloke who listened to the wrong game all afternoon and the cretin who thought there were City fans in the away end.

Don't want to be a kill joy, but I do feel sorry for disabled fans of Rovers, but respect them for trying to do something to help the situation. It does however, show what a really parlous financial state that club is in,  if the DSA have to resort to building this.

It does make you wonder, doesn't it?

    Evolution not Revolution apparently.

#gaslogic dictates that you ignore facts like the above (once in the last FIFTY years they've beat us on attendance), make statements like "if we were in their position we'd piss all over their attendances" and that becomes the undisputed truth.

Like when they were in the Basement and they used to say that if they were in L1 they'd sell out their ground every week?

Or maybe when we only took 670 to Sheffield Utd a couple of years ago for a 12:00 KO, televised on SKY...and they took the piss saying that if they were in the same position they'd take loads more....

All mouth no trousers as per usual.

    More #gaslogic...

It's always been bizarre why they have been able to attract more fans through the turnstiles then we do - even pre the Gate rebuild.

Our home avg has been extremely respectable given the state of the Mem regardless of having two promotions in the last few seasons.I wonder if they were back in league one and were playing at the old shitpit that we do would they get many,if anymore thru the Gate?

If your were to do a head count of both Bristol clubs fanbase numbers we are not that far behind them. But they have always been able to attract more of there fans to games than we had been able to.I know that they are the bigger club, but not by much. It's not like they are Man UTD and we are Bury. It's more like the diffence fanbase wise between Norwich and Ipswich or Wolves and Wba.

Another says the reason they get shit crowds is because of the state of the Mem, remind me how many times they've sold out at the shitpit?

This one acknowledges that we have always attracted more fans through the turnstiles but then goes on to say that they aren't that far behind us when it comes to the number of fans we both have in Bristol.

That pisses all over their claim that their fans are more loyal than us then doesn't it?

This particular Saghead may find it bizaar that we've always had higher attendances than them but clearly it's just a case that their club and fans aren't as special as they like to think they are.

The sh**e are the biggest sports franchise better stadium loads of dodgy cash behind them BUT Rovers are the best club with the better manager and by far the best and most loyal fans I grew up in South Bristol surrounded by Teds most of my close mates were Teds but thank goodness I ended up a GASHEAD!
Look at this beauty. What is he 9 .

    By far the most loyal?

Only 5k STs sold on the back of their best season since 2000

    8k at home in L1

300 odd to Bradford, 500 to Bury...both on Saturdays.

We sold 9000 STs on the back of relegation to L1 after the worst season I can remember in the 30 years I've been supporting City.

We've spent most of the last two seasons struggling at the wrong end of the Championship table....they've been challenging for promotion each year, visiting grounds like Pompey, Plymouth, Swindon, Oxford, Coventry, MK, Walsall, Charlton, Millwall etc in those seasons and they still don't average more away from home than us.

It was only a couple of weeks ago someone posted a thread on Slagchat asking Gasheads to provide stats to prove their away support is better than ours and the best they could come up with was "uhh Dean Windass huh huh huh" and stuff about 1982 for some reason? So basically they've got nothing....

The funniest thing about that link was a sag saying fans of a lot of clubs like them but detest us. It is simple saghead you are not a threat to anyone so they condescendingly say they like you. People hate us because we are a rival.

    Spot on.

One of them mentions how Cardiff detest us, that's because we actually play them on a regular basis and they see us as a local rival...

Not some funny little club with a quirky kit from over the bridge that they never play in a proper competitive match.

I see Doncaster took 5,500 to Arsenal last night. How does that compare to the best supporters in the world. Ever

Using combined Gas/thick, ass kissing Wolves fans logic, Doncaster are now the biggest club in Yorkshire.

As for Wolves, well we saved our large travelling army for the biggest club in the Black Country when we went there in the FAC two seasons ago.

Now THAT was a proper following.

But would they have had Arsenal. First 11 numbers appear to be in alphabetical order. If they had beaten Wolves would they have been number 3.

Then who would they have played?

The team they dream of playing.

Their ultimate cup final, a trip to the Gate.
