Perhaps then they could also arrange an U23 game at AG (surely it's easier to reschedule those) or even a 'behind closed doors' friendly, even if it's just the first team squad not away for internationals and U23s? Then the women's game could follow. Not sure how easy it would be to do but I think there'd be lots of people quite curious to take in both games.
I had a vague memory of something of this nature happening before - bizarrely it stuck in my head that we’d played Barnsley and I thought the women played first, but they actually played Brighton post the men’s game:

1,100 stayed to watch the women. Also, some classic LJ b*locks about Jaffa Cakes.

Couple of quick points:
- One word I do associate heavily with Pearson is integrity. I can quite believe he’d offer to resign if he thought it was the best thing for the club bearing in mind the situation.
- That being said, I don’t think, as most don’t, that having NP out for an indeterminate term and no interim is tenable. As an organisation, Bristol Sport have been here before - Matt Beard taking over from Tanya Oxtoby. There is absolutely nothing wrong with short term help, and it’s best for all parties

Who are they to tell us to stop speculating?
Agree his health is his own private business but clearly the rumours are on a wider subject than the specifics of his well being.
I think the problem is the 2+2 here. I don’t think it’s disrespectful in any way to muse that a man who has had Covid twice, is financially secure, has a life outside football and I think suffered a family bereavement recently may decide, for want of a better term, he doesn’t need this shit and it’s impacting his health. (Against that, he clearly deeply wants to do the job or why else bomb out Downing and Simpson)
When those factors are in place, it’s quite easy for a believable rumour to be concocted that he has to step down due to ill health. And that’s where the 2+2 is, and the line probably is. It’s the difference between someone musing if his health is ok to stay in the job, and someone (not you), starting a rumour that he has to go due to ill health.

Just found out what happened. One of the blokes who works on security at the RHPC is a chap called Piers. Well, his lad, Nigel makes a quality homemade Perry using a specific brand of pear.
This led to one staff member at the training ground being overheard telling another:
"Nigel, Piers son, Press conference this afternoon"
Easy mistake to make.
Stand down OTIB.

Webster - not because I dislike Atkinson, but the Kalas/Webster axis was quality and AW brought TK up
Bryan - We’re short at LB of real intent down that side. I don’t think he’s necessarily the best defender, but he provides an all round left side
Smith - it’s ironic that we let Smith go because we had Williams, and in part due to injuries. We then get Williams and he’s permanently injured while Korey is fit
Brownhill - In hindsight, one of the worst bits of business we did was selling Josh and buying Wells. Wells hasn’t clicked and didn’t fit with our system at the time, and we ended up spending most of the Josh fee on an asset with no resale value that was a square peg in round hole
Reid - Now, in the side below that means no real height but I would look at the passing and energy Bobby especially would bring, and it gives us what is lacking at the moment
If we then lined up…
Bentley
Tanner-Kalas-Webster-Bryan
Brownhill-Smith -Williams - HNM
Weimann- Reid
Its work rate, it’s aggressive, it’s pace. It’s an improved version of the Man Utd team tbf
Notably only one NP signing there, and it’s because I think those five would improve us in other areas over RB. Atkinson unlucky and James on bench.

Bakinson and Massengo stand off there to let Gardner win the ball. They then jog, and don’t try and catch him. When cross comes in, Gardner on his own. Bakinson in shot 7 yards away.
No excuse for that.

That’s schoolboy from Vyner. Stand your ground, don’t get forced a yard the wrong side of the ball. Awful.

I think some thought has to be given here to time - both as a unit, and at this level. If you look at Saturday, and a back line of Tanner-Kalas-Atkinson-Pring, then you’ve got three of them who haven’t played at this level before this season (two of which haven’t been here six months with the other injured until pre-season), and the other described by NP as not a captain in the traditional sense but someone who leads by example.
So, with that, I’d expect them to be relatively uncohesive. I also think that’s one of the reasons why NP likes Baker back there - again, not a great communicator, but the experience aids the collective.
Add in NP clearly hasn’t been happy with how the coaching has been done and you’re left with the following:
- Inexperienced players
- No established leader at this level
- Limited time together
- Poorly coached?
The good news is that the more they play, at least two of those will naturally improve. It’s another reason why this season is about laying foundations

I think it’s now 100% fair to say that, barring a disaster, you won’t see Vyner or Palmer in the side again while Pearson’s in charge. It can be argued that you can move Pring to CB if injury to Atkinson/Kalas, but he’s not played there and being the option is damning on Zak. As for KP - now behind both Scott and Benarous. Who have less than 10 games between them.
They’re done

Missing this one today as on the way back from Cyprus.
Question: Is it considered rude to annoy your wife by watching BCTV while she’s trying to sort the passports out in the airport queue?

This is demonstrably brilliant.
There were rumours, with tickets on sale at 10:30 and Yate being on the way to Solihull, where Yeovil play today, that Yeovil fans were planning on stopping off at Lodge Road to buy tickets.
So in order to buy tickets, people had to show up with proof of a BS37 postcode…or answer general knowledge questions about Yate!
-
They’ve now announced ticketing for the Yeovil game if you’re not off to Cov.
2000 capacity, 400 to Yeovil.
In person sales only from Saturday at Lodge Road for the 1600. Right move as it means locals should get first dibs.
-
Tbf, we’re really late to the party on this one. Most clubs, at all levels, publicise their playlists in advance - Sunderland is particularly good, splits into fan choice/staple/local band/players choice, and you can go to Spotify thereafter.
Easy fan engagement. Can’t see why it’s not happened before

I'm interested to know how they handle segregation for this match because there is no natural segregation in the stadium. Yeovil will obviously bring fans up. Not sure if any Dover supporters made the trip yesterday if I'm honest!
There’s a second entrance (typically used as an exit gate) which is to the other side of the main stand. I’d guess they’ll use that for Yeovil as it naturally allows the funnel in to the side behind the goal where there’s no covered standing. Bit of small safety fencing and stewards, cutting it off halfway behind the goal (if not less, I think Yeovil should get c300 as I think FA cup is 15%).
Priority, after season ticket holders, to owners of Yate merchandise or those who donated to keep them afloat during the pandemic (that gets me in!). Then those with a BS37 postcode which might get you in

My stance on the away end ticketing is this.
It is de facto unreserved, and should be. Mates tickets all aren’t linked and you’d end up with the farcical scenario of three friends in different parts of the end, because ticketing isn’t sophisticated enough to manage them buying separately, but wanting to sit together.
However.
If you want to sit where you want, don’t come in, at five to three, having got tanked up or coked up before hand and try and force your way to where you want to be, and where other people are sat. If you want it unreserved - fine. But get to your preferred seat and claim it early, and don’t act pro cake by wanting to sit where you want and pro eating it by wanting to turn up when you want, which is invariably the problem that occurs

Agree. See above. As per a post to @Silvio Dante last night - if you don’t want to be forced to sell your best players, don’t buy crap, and loads of it. Don’t hedge your bets on 2 or 3 players, do your due diligence on one.
Dave - I genuinely can’t remember a conversation like that last night. Can you point me to it???
-
I think the statement is quite abrupt, and if it was health related, I’d have expected it to be a bit warmer. So I go with the theory it’s NP getting rid.
A thought is that Carlisle are currently managerless. Simpson had some success there before so might it be he’s going for that?

Joe Low recalled
in Football Chat
Posted
U23s player, Joe Low, who was on loan at Eastleigh (conference) been recalled with immediate effect. Played 8 times there in two months.
Cant see it being a recall to add to our options (would have thought Towler would be back in advance - he’s been getting good reviews), but seems an odd one as he can’t be loaned to a higher level until January.
