A club of our our standing rarely gets the opportunity to sign such high quality talent and it should be a case of some regret within our management team they were unable to get the most out of him.

"On 10 June 2016, Nagy was listed among the top 10 young talents at the Euro 2016. and includes football players such as Kingsley Coman, Julian Draxler, and Raphaël Guerreiro".

As to his future destination -"During the European Championship, Nagy attracted attention from clubs such as Benfica, Olympique de Marseille and Leicester City."

And at one point, Marvin Brown was going to be a £10m footballer and Bas Savage was going to be a competent pro.

Fact is, even if Nagy showed potential in 2016 he was a long way from realising it to the level of the others quoted. Had he done so, sure as eggs is eggs, he wouldn’t have been playing for Bologna and they wouldn’t have been happy to sell him to us. Five years ago he had potential - I don’t think anyone can say that in his time with us he’s looked a cut above the rest.

If our management team should regret not getting the best out of him, Adam himself based on his career to date should be looking doubly hard.

Or, it might be he’s just not as good as he may have been seen to be at one point.

Exactly this. I am sure Johnson bought him for the right position. He played him there the first few games. Then the coaches got their hands on him!

I’m not ITK on many things, but I do know (and have mentioned before on here) that before we signed Nagy we were in for Skuse back, who LJ wanted. That plays to the theory Nagy was bought as a DM, but also that he may have been a signing instigated by Mr Ashton…

  3. Even Nagys biggest fans couldn’t put him as first on the team sheet Tbf - he’s just not shown it since being here.  When you think today Williams, Bakinson and Massengo weren’t in the side it’s an easy one to say we get rid of - he’s not so much better (or even better) than the other options we have.

From a personal point of view, it is also clear that for some players Covid will have focussed minds - Adam is Hungarian, I believe his wife is Italian, so to be away from both families becomes all the harder - notwithstanding the financial rewards.

    Is he saleable? Yes

Is he in our best team? Debatable

    Is he replaceable? Undoubtedly

Its a sell from me and no real concerns over doing so.

Edit: just tagging @Harry in here for thoughts!

Pitman wasn't the most mobile bloke when he was with us but  I don't think we used him properly and you knew that if the ball fell to him in the box it would likely go in.

However chatting to a Swindon fan earlier this year they couldn't wait to get rid of him, sounds like he can barely/is unwilling to move and has seemingly lost all finishing ability.

Now it could be a confidence thing or simply being at Swindon but I wouldn't get mu hopes up too much if I were a Rovers fan...

I think that’s the thing, work rate. With Pitman it was like playing with 10 unless the ball was within a yard of him. Great anticipation and good finisher, but you would be carrying him for 89 minutes out of 90. He’s not going to pull defences left right and centre so he’ll need lots of movement and running around him.

I’d call it a risk at 33. Best days behind him, looks to have beefed up a bit, and could struggle unless Rovers have 10 great athletes around him. If they do, he’ll score goals but if I was a Rovers fan, I wouldn’t be shouting from the tent tops yet.

If I can do the date and time I'm well up for it, but may I suggest we identify a beer garden to finish...?

Regards route, I would suggest either round the harbourside or up and across the suspension bridge.

I was thinking that (when I worked in town pre lockdown) I started at Temple Meads way, did Baldwin/Park, through GS, past AG, down West/East and finished at Temple Meads. Yours sounds far more picturesque!!

Stage 3, near Cheltenham. I'm doing it with the running club. I did a recce and there are great trails and views but a couple of climbs are long and horrendous, like a trail version of the beast near you. Kicks off tomorrow morning.

Maybe OTIB Runners could do a relay someday...

    Speaking of relay…

I’m mindful that I suggested we do a run in memory of One Team In Keynsham. Season starts 7th August and I said one week prior for target - hopefully restrictions gone- so I’d suggest we try and do it 30th July if people are up for. My suggestion is we do a start from AG about 10am, and I think I can plan a 10k (likely loop to Temple Meads with detours) from there.

So, let’s do this. Comment if up for and that time/date works (I’m flexible - in time and date at least!) and if we get enough in this community, let’s push this to the main forum/Twitter/Scotty etc

Going to be some serious demand for this.

Bet there isn’t. Tickets hugely expensive with people likely short on cash, played Bristol before and voice shot away - see the difficulty in selling Rod Stewart tickets pre pandemic for your touchstone - and he could still sing

Is it normal for them to not say how much tickets are until they go on sale?

I can’t see how much they are - Ticketmaster etc not advertising. I know that he was really making people pay through the nose for the arena leg of the tour though - see below for what I’d call a standard seat.

Cant imagine he’s that hard up!

If it is him, looks like he's playing Swansea, Sunderland, Norwich, etc too. Not exactly a tour of small arenas to be fair.

    Not a coup then ;)

Tbf I’ve never been a fan of Reg. But I do pity anyone going to see him now hoping to see the great vocalist of the “Your Song” era. As the clip below from his latest live performance confirms, he appears to have turned into Vic Reeves’ club singer:

Not for me really, but would be a massive coup for the club.

    Really?

Reg has been hawking himself around on “last chance” tours for years and is currently doing the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour which is absolutely, positively the last hurrah. I’d argue anyone who wanted to see him has - he’s been playing smaller venues than Ashton as the people who tick him off their bucket list get all the smaller.

Its not a coup if the guy plays consistently and at smaller venues.

  11. For those of you wondering what Robinson said, they’re attached to this tweet:

    https://twitter.com/dafrankland/status/1400136689096572934?s=21

(Haven’t put the embedded tweet in case people get offended)

The tweets carry a relatively broad spectrum here. There are poor taste jokes, low level racism, sexism and a bit of islampaphobia.

I do go with the POV that you shouldn’t be hung based on what you did as a teenager. The problem is, and this is what Dowden and Johnson miss, is that we know of the tweets. We also know OR was sacked by Yorkshire. What the ECB are now doing is due diligence as to what else is out there with those two factors in mind with OR suspended pending the outcome and that seems a very sensible move.

If this is what there ends up being, I think a suspension over a short term is appropriate. But for people to call the suspension pending results too heavy handed is pretty silly.

Yes it started with Vaughan asking him if he enjoyed being on comms when a Rovers fan took his first test catch.

Mann said - you can’t have it all your own way.

Vaughan now amused asked him if it’s a double edge sword when Bracey does anything good .

    Mann: ..............’silence’................Robinson bowls to Conway

Then as you say he soon jumped on the Bracey’s apparent knowledge of the lower leagues.

I think Simon preferred commentating on Trescothic

That was it - was driving at the time so had to do it from rough memory. The payoff line was however class

  13. Anyone hear the Simon Mann/Vaughan exchange?

Bracey had just taken his first test catch, which Mann praised him for - exchange went something like this:

MV: Unlike you to praise someone from that side of the city. For those that don’t know, James Bracey is a big Bristol Rovers fan. Allegedly, he’s a real anorak about lower league football

SM: Well he’d have to be supporting them

I wasn't aware of this sounds like a good idea.

Are any of the South Glos runners doing the Westonbirt 10k this weekend?

I’ll look to get it in once we know fixtures.

And supposed to be doing it, yep. However booked for a night out with the wife on Friday now we can lose the kids and not sure exactly what state I’ll be in Saturday afternoon!

Just to add. It hadn’t struck me last week when there was the thread on the main forum, but I then realised that One Team In Keynsham was the founding member of the OTIB Strava Runners Club.
Hats off to the man and may he rest in peace. ?⚪

It’d be fitting if all of us in the group, when restrictions properly ease, to do a memorial run. Pace irrelevant, time irrelevant. Just all get together, do 10k (I’m thinking start and finish at AG) and toast him for bringing it together. I get huge satisfaction from seeing what Tommy, Julian, Phil, Alex etc are doing and that’s down to OTIK.

If all goes to plan in the roadmap, one week before season starts provisionally?

Nope, still going! Project Run Every Day 2021 is still in effect 117 days in. Averaging out at 11-12k a day. Legs are murder but once you’ve started…
