  1. Is that a Bristolian/West Country term? I only ask, as I have been pulled up on it on several occasions over the years.
  2. I understand, and I am pleased for you. As @BigTone says, if it weren't for security checks he'd have no sex life at all.
  3. I can only assume his 4.5 year contract is similar to that of Alan Pardew at Newcastle, who I believe had an 8 year contract, but this contained a clause limiting any payoff to one year's salary.
  4. I read that Mrs Z doesn't want to live in Manchester.
  5. I've forgotten his name (begins with an F?), but was he the Liverpool fan?
  6. That sounds interesting. I have just looked for it - unsuccessfully. If you would provide a link, I might try to watch it later in the week. Thanks in Advance.
  7. It’s interesting, isn’t it? LJ was clearly a favourite of Steve Lansdown, but, whilst I loved and admired some of the football his team played - especially during that wonderful cup run, I found it very difficult to warm to him as a person, and, of course, I wasn’t alone. Steve C, however, seemed almost to be despised by SL, and whilst his football was played in a lower division, it was extremely enjoyable to watch and, of course, he was successful (until he got promoted). SC was, of course, adored by a large proportion of the fan base, even though he had what might best be described as a somewhat brash character. Perhaps, as you say, it is down to the jargon or, in SC’s case, the lack of it.
  8. My reply about Alex Scott was, of course, facetious, but I have just had another look at your clip, and you are quite correct. I was watching on a mobile phone, but for some reason I thought it was Weimann.
  9. Why is that? Has she been helping him tactically or giving him dancing/ballet lessons?
  10. To clarify, just in case any clarification is needed, the point of my post was not to criticise your diagrams or tactical explanations, far from it, but, rather, was simply to highlight, in what I hoped was an amusing manner, the fact that the City team in your diagram only had ten players. I could have simply posted 'Do you think we might do better with eleven players?', but I thought I would add some sarcasm and, very much tongue in cheek, make reference to Brian Clough's quote about tactics.
  11. It was, indeed, a lovely pirouette, but I think Andreas Weimann also deserves some credit for the manner in which he shielded Vyner from the first tackle to enable him to undertake the move.
  12. An excellent post Dave, as ever, although I must say it was all a bit too complicated for me, hence the reason I deleted your written tactical explanations when responding. I prefer to think of football as a simple game and, not that I am suggesting this applies to you ? ?, but, as the late, great Brian Clough once said: 'Players lose you games, not tactics. There's so much crap talked about tactics by people who barely know how to win at dominoes.' Anyway, on the subject of players rather than tactics being important, and I suppose this is what prompted me to post, I couldn't help but notice that the City team in your diagram appears to have only ten players. Do you think it might help if we used eleven players like our opponents? ?
  13. He is still alive, aged 92 now. He appeared in some Carry On films, but he was also very good as Mr. Hutchinson in Fawlty Towers. I shall try and post a link to Right Said Fred, if I can find it.
  14. I suspect it may have been mentioned on here previously, but does anybody see the resemblance to Luke Freeman, (fairly) recently of this parish?
  15. With hindsight, an excellent choice, as the presenter was not the best either.
  16. Not only was the pitch awful, but did you hear the awful monkey chants when Worrell Sterling broke before crossing for Watford’s equaliser? Those were the days, Eh?
  17. Well, there's your reason. If Ronaldo is constantly droning on about 'Just one Cornetto', what do you expect?
  18. Jonathan Wilson doesn't seem to rate Ronaldo, does he?
  19. Thank You for the link to a very interesting and insightful article, as ever from The Guardian. Never has a truer word been spoken.
  20. That would be quite amusing if it were not, potentially, quite a serious matter. To be fair, though, the majority of security guards are on minimum wage with little, if any, training for a potential terrorist attach and, as has been mentioned, seem to be undertaking a mere tick box exercise. We have the same here in France, where security guards in the large supermarkets ask women to open their handbags and, after a cursory glance, wave them through.
  21. Look up Newcastle and Sunderland; River Tyne and River Wear; Tyneside and Wearside. They are not the same.
  22. Really? Ah, I see I am not the only one to have spotted the geographical error.
