Reminds me of when I heard the least reassuring statement I have ever heard made. Landing at Edinburgh airport with Easyjet a few years back with what I found out later was 70 mile an hour crosswinds. We went around the airport twice and then the pilot came on and said "Well the two flights in front of us have pulled out of their approaches, but I think we can make it in" !!! I think there should be a vote in those circumstances, but he did get us down, 1 wheel at a time!

Sunday Afternoon always for the Big Match. The great thing about TV fòotball in those days was that they would show games from all divisions over the season. Just watching England Women playing Canada and just thinking just how fast the womens game is progressing. Each year is a new set of names, same with Hurricanes etc, the male and female names alternate each year. i.e. Hurricane Andrew one year Hurricane Agnes the following year.

There have been some bad ones in the past obviously but yes they do seem more consistently bad. I read somewhere that the Jet Stream across the Atlantic which brings the storms is at it's fastest since records began. I assume this is part of global warming?

It's partly to do with the direction the storm come from. For example Scotland had a storm called "Malik" last month, but that was because it had hit Norway first and they named it from their list, but the next storm that hit GB or Ireland first (Dudley) went back to our list. I was in Florida in 1996 when they had hurricane Opal and it was only September, that was a particularly bad year for them.

Great win It's a funny sport really, if you try to explain it to someone who had never seen it, it would sound boring. But it's fascinating, it's more like Chess than Bowls or any similar games you can think of.

They wouldn't be the first (or last) experts to take a short term view or not to see all the consequences of their actions. Look at all those companies that took "Pension Plan Holidays" during the market boom in the 80's only to find a big hole in their funding when Black Monday occurred. And they do so without understanding that it makes no difference to the team how much money your owner has as long as FFP remains in place.

I am confused because previous reports I have seen from up there seemed to suggest he was popular and doing well? Looking at his recent online ratings they are mostly good except for the game against Dundee, but the who team were scored low in that one.
