My post wasn't aimed at making you look stupid, and maintaining the gap doesn't alter my point.

As far as I'm concerned there is NO context whatsoever that can spin an atrocious 4-0 home thrashing into a 'good night'.

You could say we got away with an appalling knackered looking performance and result due to failures elsewhere, but a good night it most certainly wasn't.

    I'll try once more.

Firstly you'll note I called it a good "night", not a good "game". Two very different things. Clearly it was a terrible game. Most people are able to appreciate that referring to the "night" refers to the collective set of results - which were broadly favourable - rather than our one specific match.

Secondly you'll note that I qualified my statement with "in a very strange way", which is a clear reference to the rarity of actually moving closer to safety despite getting thrashed at home.

If you're intent on dissecting other people's posts, there are plenty more worthy examples elsewhere.

A good night?? I take it you didn't sit through it then?

For me, it was an incredibly miserable and depressing night, as bad as anything witnessed this season.

A humiliating defeat, very easily accomplished, and no entertainment from City whatsoever.

Bloody cold too, so although I'm naturally relieved after the event that results elsewhere went for in our favour, other teams also losing is not going to fill seats at Ashton Gate.

Ah, the classic OTIB trick of highlighting one sentence out of context and attempting to make a fellow forumite look stupid.

I think it's pretty obvious I was talking strictly in the context of our survival prospects - as my second sentence, which you elected not to highlight in bold, made abundantly clear.

Not at all, I finished last season on a massive high, with expectations to match.

Im not happy that we messed up the summer transfer window, brought in a manager with no championship experience and we haven't got a striker, if we keep aiming low we will get there.

i want my club to be successful and to do that you need to seize your opportunities as they are few and far between, I'm not delighted that were better than 3 other teams at the moment, I don't need to get a grip, I'm just sick of seeing the same old cheap options being made.

this season has been bollocks both on and off it, we should stay up (?) but I don't see the decisions being made by the board at the moment as progressive, if SC can't attract players to Bristol then I have little hope that LJ will have much luck either.

i thought we'd finish about 15th, and build let's see but as I said before, I'm sick of seeing the cheap option made, especially on a 3.5 year contract.

Sorry for not having the same outlook as you but leave the get a grip bit out.

The problem was your post showed absolutely no recognition of our very significant improvement in recent weeks and appeared to be entirely reactionary based solely on tonight's performance.

You have already moderated your opinion from "not signing a striker will see us relegated" to "we should survive" within half an hour, which proves my point.

The decision to not get a recognised goal scorer and an experienced manager will cost us our place in the championship.

Im not having a pop at LJ but someone with experience and connections would have been nice.

Still long way to go go in the season but without a recognised poacher I don't fancy our chances, of course I hope I'm wrong and am made to eat my words, I just can't see it though, some real tough games at the arse end of the season.

One poor scoreline (not even a result) and these sort of posts have started again already.

4 wins in 6, a 7 point gap to the drop zone as things stand, and no sign of the bottom three finding the form they would need to overtake us.

    Get a grip.

People moaning about empty seats in the ateyo  , just excusing myself to super fans like yourself !!      If there are plenty of empty seats I'm sure there are other fans like myself who pick and choose games , hence the empty seats

Who said I was a superfan? I'm at home too and only go to about 15 games a season due to limited finances and a young family.

So you can save your accusations for someone else.

Don't care what people think. I'm not a season ticket holder, a humble potd fan , I'm not made of money so pick  and choose me games ! Champions league on ,  a couple of wins and people think we just rock up and beat Brighton

I don't get what you being a POTD supporter or the Champions League has to do with it.

And I don't think anyone expected an easy win.

  7. The whole "who's got more money" debate is fairly irrelevant at the levels of wealth we are talking about anyway.

We know Lansdown is a billionaire. For arguments sake let's say the Jordanians are even more wealthy. But what could they realistically achieve with Rovers that Lansdown couldn't afford to do with City?

Lansdown easily has enough money to build a new stadium, improve the training facilities and infrastructure, and make £multi-million bids for players. After that he is tied by financial fair play and a need to run the club in a sustainable manner.

Even if the Jordanians have ten times his wealth, what more could they do? They will encounter the same hurdles. They may now be able to compete with us, but I see no reason why this would enable them to overtake us.

They sold that soul that they are so proud of today.

Does this mean that every club who has ever received investment from someone who wasn't born with a view of the stadium from their bedroom window has "sold their soul"?

Cardiff happily gave up their very identity for a shot at the Premier League and watched their promotion with red scarves slung around their necks in a sold out stadium. They objected in meaningful numbers only when the dream turned sour. That's selling your soul. It's lazy to make the same claim of Rovers.

Exactly this. They are on the brink of becoming the very thing they've always claimed to despise and they're loving it.

Long, long way to go before its known whether this is going to be good for them or not. I think it's a bit bizarre that this has happened before the findings of the Appeal Court are known, presumably Higgs and Co are far from confident of a good outcome against Sainsburys.

They'd do well not to gloat too much until they've actually achieved something, they'll be subject to the same financial rules that we are, likewise we would be wise not to write off these investors straight away. One thing is for sure, as I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't swap them for the Lansdowns. At least we know our guys are committed to the club and our future.

But what "thing" have they become that "they always claimed to despise"?

They have more money but the identity of the club remains unchanged. Are you saying if you asked 100 Rovers fans in the street if they wanted more money to make their club more competitive they would all say they "despise" that? I doubt that.
