Think he tried too hard, and perhaps listened to the wrong people or didn't listen to the right people. I do think that without him we wouldn't have seen Tammy at the gate and Tammy certainly left us as a better player than when he arrived.

In my opinion LJ is a good coach, he just isn’t a manager.

What really ground my gears is the utter buxxshxt he spoke. But, I think he is a nice bloke.

He has a real challenge at Hibs, the relatively new owner has already disposed of 2 managers / HC’s - Shaun Maloney after only 4 months!

But, he has incredibly got a 4 year deal, so they must believe in him and financially LJ is in the pound seats.

That's it with Lee though isn't it, and one of the things that drove me mad. He just can't help himself.

The stupid thing is he did loads of good stuff here he could highlight and rightfully take a lot of credit for, but why he feels the need to try and elaborate on something like that is just weird.

It's the same as post Man U / Man C games. They were brilliant performances and he rightly deserved loads of praise - why start talking about bottles of wine with Mourinho or rubbing shoulders with Pep around a tactics board. It's just naff and reeks of insecurity to me. He'd already done the hard part, he just had to bask in it, not endlessly try and big himself up.

    Agree 100%.

Listening his post match interviews on BBC RB after we had lost, I sometimes felt he had imposter syndrome.

I still think that is possible. I believe he is quite a complex character and he would be fascinating to have a couple of pints with.

    Seriously?

Aside from the big two, clubs up there pay L1 wages for L1 players.

Marley Watkins & Taylor Moore were at Aberdeen & Hearts last season.

    Agreed.

Put the top 6 or 7 into the Championship and apart from the bigot brothers the rest would truly struggle.

I would see the bigot brothers troubling the top six but not the auto places.

Even with their huge season ticket numbers they could not compete with the parachute payment clubs.

Interestingly, put them in the EPL and all the wealth that goes with it, which would fund a huge player upgrade and they would probably survive and eventually thrive. Obviously never going to happen and nor should it.

  4. Just read it.

He is right Scottish football is very much a goldfish bowl, but to suggest that the top 6 or 7 in the SPL would thrive in the Championship is utter nonsense.

As I mentioned when he got the Hibs job he is going to be comedy gold up their with the media with every word scrutinized by fans of all clubs.

The reality is that Hibs and Hearts are the 3/4 th biggest clubs in Scotland but in reality their fans don’t expect a real league challenge for obvious reasons BUT they do expect to be 3rd or 4th in the league, decent cup runs and European qualification - that is his challenge.

He has flaws for sure. I’m not having this narrative that he’s gotten a team to a semi final and final is down to a easy run. People always forget what came before Southgate. Limping to a quarter final and often losing or bore draws against giants like Algeria and Iceland.

    Which is all fair comment.

But maybe the managers in charge then were even worse than Southgate OR, did not have the full breadth of talent available that, nobody argues, he certainly does.

  6. 5 minutes ago, Henry said:

    How is that a problem?

Problem is, and again, in no way anti-England, at the last WC it was a relatively easy run until the semi’ s then along come Croatia, go one up then what happens? Sit on a lead.

The Euros, similar story, relatively easy ride, OK Germany, but a team in decline, get to the final, go 1-0 then sit on that with the inevitable end result.

Will Quatar be any different? Probably not. Southgate is way way too negative but, he is a ‘company man’, he will survive, if he wants to, regardless of the WC result.

Apparently, at some point, he wants to get back into club football. Which top level side would touch him? Been lots of vacancies at that level since he took over England and he is never ever mentioned as a candidate.

Take from that what you will.

  7. As I have stated previously I am NOT an anti-English Scot, but under this manager you will win nothing, which with the talent at his disposal is shameful.

As I said last summer after the defeat to Italy, to go 1-0 early on and then sit back was madness, he is way to negative and frightened of losing.

I fear another lost opportunity at this years WC.

And, I take no joy in that.

In fairness , and I don’t criticise , or blame him , but KP is Mr Holiday (Always with his family who he clearly adores)

One year he flew from one holiday , to another , to another , all first / business class

As I said , very much a family man and good luck to him , why not enjoy your wealth

    But ,

I do wonder whether he was enjoying the benefits of being a very wealthy footballer , and early in life , without having to push himself , consciously or subconsciously , especially with an obvious focus (admirable) on his family.

The wages that Chelsea paid many of their young players may have taken the edge off a few

It’s a fair point on the earnings of young players at PL clubs. IIRC correctly Tammy was on £25k per week at Chelsea when he joined us on loan. I also recall reading that the summer his loan ended he signed a new contract on £50k per week - my understanding is that this level is not untypical.

  9. So much will depend on the lad himself and of course his agent.

There COULD come a point when a bid is made that the club deam too good to turn down, then it will be up to the player.

It is hard to see him turning down a move that will be to the PL and give him a salary of multiple times what we pay him - even with an improved contract, IF one was on offer.

The reality is that we and indeed most championship clubs cannot get anywhere close to what even a newly promoted side can offer in terms of salary..

I would have thought they could, but more of an all in as opposed to part of a big old spend.

Certainly FFP wise it would be doable- but if they saw Semenyo as their big and main one yes I would say possible. Of course they don't splash big in any event but they could if they wanted.

As anyone who follows my posts on here they will notice, like most Scots, that I detest both of the ugly sisters.

But, in all honesty , Celtic, would NOT be a good move for the lad. Yes, CL football, but that is all they have going for them, the standard, although improving, is low.

IF, he is going to move and assuming we get the right offer, he could maybe consider a European move, it could well be beneficial to his long term career if he went to Germany or Italy.

For example, the young Scottish left back Hickey, went to Bologna from Hearts last year for £2m , now being touted for £15m to to the EPL.

( not suggesting that we take £2m , far from it, but for the lads development it may be an option for him).

Hope it goes well for you.

There's a very useful book I read called Anti-Cancer which helped me a few years back.  I didn't have a cancer but I have an autoimmune condition that was life threatening at the time.  The book is all about mobilising your own immune system to fight illness (not just cancer) so was very helpful for me.  Felt like I got a bit of control back which was very empowering.

    I thoroughly recommend it.

Thanks fella, I will get a copy.

Great goalkeeper and great character , terrible news.

Totally agreed. My thoughts are with him just now as someone who is about to start cancer treatment.

As a keeper Andy was relatively short 5. 10, I believe, which is remarkable compared to some of the giants that keep goal now.

So no other club have swallowed LJ's spin/bullshit. The poor sods have no idea what they have let themselves in for.

    They don’t.

Just read snippets on BBC Football of his press conference.

    ’ I like possession football but it doesn’t have to be 60% , maybe 52% to 54%’ !

    WTF.

He is going to be more than good value on BBC Radio Scotland on a Saturday night!

Unlike down here with many more clubs and a much bigger population, football fans in Scotland do actually listen to managers interviews even though they have no connection to the club - the radio phone-ins have the potential to be epic.

  14. If, and is a huge if, this pans out the way predicted i.e. HMRC do a deal and the council buy the stadium and lease it to the club, all hell will break lose, as it should.

The clear implication is that public funds are being used to ‘save’ a football club - sorry, but that is wrong,it should not happen under any circumstances and I include BCFC in that.

For the record I do not ever want to see ANY football club go under but the facts are stark, the previous owner played fast and lose and as he can’t / won’t pay the price, his previous asset has too.

    It is that simple.

  15. 1 minute ago, Malago said:

Even if they paid a third of his wages it would help.

According to some on here KP is on 25k per week, no way on this planet can Hibs pay 8k of that, the money simply is not there.

It's obviously not a pub league but the difference in quality is pretty clear. Outside the top 2 it's top end championship standard at best, that's not the case with the Premier League.

No way top end championship, top end Div 1 more like.

1 year loan. Get him out the building.

It is not quite as simple as that unless of course we are prepared to pay potentially 90% of his wages for a year our we negotiate a termination agreement.

Aside from the bigot brothers there is very very little money in Scottish football and that includes Hibs. I would imagine, obviously I don’t know, that their highest paid player will be on less than £2k per week.

Go down a division to the Scottish Championship where with the exception of Arbroath, the clubs are full time, you are looking at a weekly wage of £500 / £600.

    Dear Lee

‘ Due to your City history we are able to offer you a full ‘summer bundle’ at a special price , including  players you signed - We can offer you Kasey Palmer , Taylor Moore and Zak Vyner for a one off , and special price of only £5 million’

Take a zero of the end It it might be a goer!

  19. 2 hours ago, Malago said:

Vyner did reasonably well at Aberdeen.  Remember LJ bigging him up and comparing him to Lloyd Kelly.

Also could be an ideal destination for Kasey Palmer on a season long loan.

Hibs would struggle to pay KP anything remotely close to what he is on here.

Does the liquidation of Rangers in 2012 act as a precedence at all?

From memory it was the HMRC’s rejection of the CVA that forced Rangers into liquidation and Rangers are arguably a much bigger club than Derby County

It should do but apparently not.

Let me be clear I despise both of the bigot brothers equally, had it been up to me Rangers 2012 would have had to start in the West of Scotland league and not in Div 2.

Bizarrley, they  almost got to retain their SPL status as a majority of the SPL clubs were in favor - ££.

That only stopped when the supporters of the SPL clubs of the day made it clear to their boards that they would not be attending any games against Rangers 2012, in fact, they would not be attending ANY games full stop.

    Opinions soon changed.
