  1. Dave, we had a discussion about NP a season or so back regarding his (roughly) 32% win ratio. You were at pains to explain to me that a win ratio does not tell the whole story. @wendyredredrobin has understandably, imo, raised the issue of lack of shots on target: 4 in 270 mins. Again you say that this doesn't tell the whole story. I dont think I'm entirely alone in having a much more simplistic view of football compared to you. I pays me money to be entertained, to get excited- even briefly. I obviously want to see goal attempts even if they don't go in! I love fine food and know what tastes good without always knowing the ingredients, the process or the chef. BCFC ,in footballing terms, are serving up a pretty poor meal more often than not and for many of us - it is the story.
  2. You will not believe how lucky you are. We have a long tradition of signing Australian superstars such as Kilkenny and Agostino and someone else. Best matches at Xmas will probably be against Arsenal or Man U in a Cup game on our way to Wembley. Stick with it- you can follow our journey with zero pain and if you have a good sense of humour you'll never be short of a good laugh. Just remembered: Nick Carle another classic from Downunder
  3. Anyway- the players transferred in since NP arrived i.e BCFC recruitment: Simpson King James Atkinson Wilson Bajic Roberts McCrorie Cornick Mehmeti Roberts Dickie Sykes Knight Haikin Tanner Naismith
  4. So everytime the phone rings- Tinnion only has to answer it and hey presto.... "we" give them a trial? Meanwhile the player develops themselves? Brian Tinnion has to kiss an awful lot of frogs to find a Prince- that's his job. "Handed on a plate" suggests you have little knowledge of what goes into producing a player good enough for Nige to select.
  5. FFS. At least give the credit where the credit is due. Nige DID NOT recruit Scott or Semenyo- Tinnion did! NP has not generated £35million- the club has through the Academy- both these players were up and coming stars before NP arrived. NP should receive credit for making sure the youth talent got into the team which he has done more than any other BCFC Manager I can think of. However- the players he ( and BT) have brought in from other clubs over the past 2 years are extremely debatable as to potential profit. As to the "£5 million" he has spent- please specify every transaction he has made to confirm only £5 million ( that's not a rhetorical question).
  6. If you had the intelligence and ability to read my post... I quoted you and @WessexPest in the same post as you basically said similar in reply to me albeit that WP said "poor teams". I don't make stuff up but I certainly make people aware of their stupidity. Next time, Chris- read my whole post then engage your brain before your mouth!
  7. So Brum in 3rd and Preston 5th are very poor teams? Millwall were very tidy last season. After 3 games we are condemned to what exactly? Pretty much every Championship club states the playoffs as the goal and we are no different. I didn't buy it last season or this. What the hell do you expect? .... "This season we are looking for a mid table finish"? With the injuries and new players at least give me a couple more games before I dust off my 'Pearson Out" thread.
  8. A week is a very long time in football. I watched the Millwall game and thought we have nothing to worry about and look a solid Championship side making progress.
  9. just one alteration? ( just for accuracy)
  10. Blimey- that Ashton fella must have been good- no wonder Ipswich are doing so well.
  11. I suspect Birmingham are jolly grateful- a 'home from home' for them today. The biggest barrier for our club is the morons who just want to cause trouble, if it wasn't for these type of fans ( from whichever club including ours) we could just stuff them in the upper Lansdown and give S82 the Atyeo. That is a fortress.
  12. Sorry- the quote was about spending not saving which is a different matter. As the fees paid for virtually every player since Semenyo left have been undisclosed, your £5.5 is a guess. The £36m as "fees in" is wrong because Semenyo didn't sell for £10m nor Scott for £25m- the deals are add ons which we don't have the exact details of or hen they are triggered. Saying that £2m or £5.5m makes no difference is , imo, ridiculous!
  13. He's spent a total £2m ? Let's not let the facts get in the way of the populist narrative.
  14. I understand it's a step by step instruction to how Ashton Gate can finally master the Viking Thunderclap .
  15. I completely agree- It's been a personal gripe for years. The idea of giving an entire stand behind the goal is ,imo, ridiculous. It's worth a point to the visitors and for bigger clubs , it's almost like a home match. If BS3 are quiet then it gives the opposition a huge lift. Talk of 'fortess Ashton Gate' in terms of intimidation are pointless with this gift to the visitors.
  16. Congratulations to Bristol Live who are running the same headline page for the fourth day in a row. 'Live' being subjective in the case of Bristol Live It appears that a transfer target who is no longer a transfer target is the biggest news event in over a year. I hadn't realised that this player (whose name I have already genuinely forgotten) was so incredibly important . Is this the end of the football world as we know it or has the entire BL staff gone on strike/holiday or simply can't think of a single alternative thing to write about?
  17. Last time people were talking like you- Steve brought in Ashton to sort it out. Football fans seem to have the memory of a goldfish. Meanwhile Cornick is increasingly showing why he was signed, Bell needs time in the team and deserves his chance, Weimann will be back in days , Wells is good enough and Conway will recover soon enough whilst Yeboah is another welcome addition and well done to Pearson & team for edging him in. Personally I can't see a new forward as being anything other than unnecessary at this moment.
  18. It's one of those sporting quiz questions that comes up from time to time like the one " What is the only football team in Bristol to be named after the city it plays in?" often shortened to "name the one team in Bristol".
  19. City never stopped playing to win . The subs were well timed and well made and I also love the 5 sub option. Great afternoon and hope our travelling fans avoid any diverse respected bankers on their way home.
  20. I think we've looked really good and having not seen the Preston game as on holiday- I'm quite impressed. I think Millwall have been good in defense more than we've been toothless in attack.
