  1. I've learnt that it's probably best to give a player more than 3 games before calling him awful. Fans ability to see what the manager sees in a particular player is often questionable- the boos which greeted Flint coupled with cheers when he was subbed preceded the emergence of ,imho, one of the greatest defenders to play for City. The spleen venting disappointment of the highly unpopular signing of Wilbrahim was again somewhat premature . Harry Cornick has been pretty unspectacular so far but in a somewhat counter intuitive way- that may be a good thing. The NP/BT axis of signing players is fairly good considering the restraints they work under so I doubt they bought a dud. As for booing in general- I've never done it to any BC player or manager . The red line for me is when fans boo one of our own like some did to Joe Low- that really was moronic.
  2. I just never wanted him anywhere near BCFC. He is, of course, our pantomime villain to most and with good reason. He loves us Bristol City fans because he provokes such a big reaction with us- mainly that we think he's Colin. It's like Oscar Wilde who said" there's one thing worse than being talked about.....not being talked about". Personally I love to dislike him but despite all that- I know it's his last moment- his swan song but I find myself genuinely rooting for him. I hope he gets his ultimate greatest achievement in keeping Huddersfield up. If it's at the expense of Cardiff then ( sorry Neil) I'd give him a minutes applause not the minutes boo which he has suggested! Hate to say it but he's a bit of a legend.
  3. Easy to apply but when you want it removed- it takes forever.
  4. I don't think that the team today could be accused of apathy. The last few months has been encouraging but just not clicked. It's almost like it's guaranteed that if some players are are the top of their game then others are found sadly wanting. We rarely have everyone playing badly or playing well as a unit.
  5. and why we are where we are. There's 3 points between us.
  6. I used to go to the BAWA lunches in the 1980's at the hotel in Broadmead ( the Mariott?) - there was one with Dennis Law and George Best. Dennis was very funny and had great stories but George didnt say anything because he was obviously quite ill through his alcoholism. It was a bit weird as on the one hand, there was a living legend a few metres away but a shadow of the person he was. I met him briefly at the end and got him to sign a b&w photo of him from the late 60's. I think the Gazza story is even sadder. I've still got the signed photo along with a signed one of Sir Stanley Mathews- two remarkable talents with two very contrasting fortunes.
  7. Very incisive comment. This season is over and I hope that the remaining games are utilised in a way which ensures as many academy players who are near oven ready are given some game time. The final points tally is obviously important but giving experience to emerging talent is probably more so even just to ensure they can get loan deals in L1 next season. The summer will be the first opportunity since pre pandemic that there may be cash to spend on "one's for the present" as opposed to "one's for the future".
  8. Disgraceful behaviour and totally unprofessional- anyone on OTIB who even for one second thinks that the Rotherham groundsmen were doing anything other than a brilliant job are a disgrace. It's Cardiff FFS. I'd be buying bottled water by the gallon and spraying it on the pitch unless the score was in Rotherham's favour.
  9. Just put some ice on it. Works a treat.
  10. Blimey bad luck Tone- you went in for a knee op and they did your fingers and thumbs- you just can't rely on medics these days. Swift recovery!
  11. This is a job for Ryley Towler. Shelves or Tables?
  12. He spent over £5 million yet at the time it was still minor compared to the likes of Wolves who were spending £14 m on one player and BCFC who spent £5m on Fammy. MM inherited the Roy Keane hangover in the same way NP did from the MA hangover. But Mick stated this at the time : "I think it is outrageous - but don't get me wrong if I had it, I would spend it. I think Nige has said the same.
  13. I was at a conference yesterday - the subject of font/branding came up and one of the delegates said that their " My Secret Bolthole" holiday property font morphed into "My secret Butthole" Thought you might like that, Rudolph.
  14. We'll thrash them. It's just a matter of the first going in.
  15. Bit disappointed to see Mehmeti drop to the bench but he'll likely get a run out. As it seems highly unlikely that we'll be drawn into any prospect of a relegation fight and the play offs are near impossible, the score tonight is not immensely significant. Experience for some of the academy subs can only be applauded. Tonight is probably the last ever time we see Colin in the dug-out at a BCFC game so it would be delicious if we could say cheerio to him with a 5 or 6 nil destruction of his team but that's wishful thinking...maybe.
  16. Well- one door closed then the wheels came off. Wheels is the answer.
  17. I don't get what a "proper" manager is? Genuine question: define "proper". What part of Cotts winning the double was not "proper"? Was Gary Johnson also somehow not "proper" when getting promotion and then to the Championship play off final?
  18. irrespective of the score these injuries are the worst thing for us today
  19. Tremendous shame about Joe Williams- his injuries are rarely minor and it's one more we (and Joe) can do without.
  20. I'll think you'll find that the biggest pull in football transfers is money.
  21. The grammar police can go to he'll.
  22. Take it to penalties. We haven't missed one in about 490 days.
  23. Alex Lockhart was pretty good and an incredibly good physio
