I agree, he looked good in that season when LJ suddenly sent him out on loan. But for whatever reason his career hasn’t taken off and I can’t envisage seeing him play for City again.
He was a joy to watch for us and always seemed to have a great attitude. As has been mentioned on this thread, moving abroad is tough, not many English players do it, and that speaks volumes for his character.
Yep, one game at a time for me as well. We are far too inconsistent to hope for a run of games without defeat. But equally we are picking up wins, so a long losing streak isn’t something I’m too concerned about either. Our football is better than it was (it’d be hard for it not to be) but our defending is so soft. Our away form is appalling - even a draw would be progress.
I can’t add to the excellent analysis on this thread other than to express my exasperation at our continued lame defending. So many of our players are making basic mistakes all over the pitch that give away goals so cheaply - the number of individual lapses make for a collective problem that seems ingrained.
I didn’t realise that our “goals for” was so high. There were points earlier in the season when it felt like we were unable to create chances, let alone score them.
The return of Semenyo has massively improved our forward play. At last there is a player to scare the hell out of opponents.
Also there’s Weimann - he’s been scoring and involved in setting up goals too, like our first last night. There was also his workrate in closing down the keeper that led to Semenyo’s volley that hit the post.
Elvis Costello has already been mentioned in this thread - his lyrics are absolutely superb.
Bob Dylan too. Many of his songs contain wonderful images. Tangled Up In Blue is one of his best - the way the narrative in the song shifts
Justin Currie (Del Amitri) is also a very good lyricist - Nothing Ever Happens is an amazing song.
I’ve got no idea how tonight’s game will go.
Our home form has improved as the season has gone on and we are scoring goals.
On the negative side we are losing too many games and our defending is shambolic.
My gut feeling is a draw.
I didn’t see yesterday’s game so can’t comment on our overall performance, but looking at the highlights we were undone yet again by awful defending - the usual inability to deal with crosses and Pring being left exposed for the third goal. We really need to get back to basics with our defending. The goals we are conceding are so cheap.
