  1. Sometimes it takes time for results to catch up with performances…and that can work both ways. In a low-scoring sport, that happens. I agree, there have been very few bad performances. Of course you’ll get under par performance too, sometimes the opposition is just better than you on the day, or have a single player who makes a big difference. @robinforlife2won’t quote properly: I’ve seen loads of progress on the pitch, but that is about opinion. Also the success / failure of Nige as the manager is much wider than just what happens on the pitch. What happens on the pitch is very much dependent on the many things that are happening off it. Thankfully SL has bought into that plan and understands the cause and effect. You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs. if you believe in the plan / strategy, not everyone will ride the whole journey. Some may disembark because they don’t want to be part of it (Bakinson). Some may leave because they’ve grown too fast (Semenyo) or can’t keep up (Martin). Some may come in to provide a short-term fix (Klose), serve their purpose, and leave. We are often looking for too simple a measure of success, usually the league table. Unfortunately it’s more complex than that.
  2. You’d think a football summit in this country would be held at The Hawthorns!
  3. Thursday (usually) - club interview with Nige, followed by media interview with Nige, followed by media interview with player Saturday - BBCRB pre-match team selection interview with Nige
  4. Definitely a lot of jealousy from the fanalyst community on twitter.
  5. We had some good contributors on here… @pnefcokand @Mortis
  6. he played as the left sided DM. Auxerre were quite poor but Nuna Da Costa who they signed from Forest was bright. I watched on Bein Sports with English comms, and Massengo did fine, commentator praising him for giving them a bit of spark. He got caught on the ball once, but at least half a dozen times he did a little body swerve and touch to create room for himself to get a pass away.
  7. That figure came out somewhere in the media too.
  8. I saw those two away draws - Millwall then Coventry - as being massively important in (re)building confidence after West Brom, just like I saw the point (despite leading) against Wigan early in the season after the opening two defeats. It’s little hurdles to overcome. Most will point to a formation change, and I get that, I just saw confidence returning in those two games, and winder whether that helped the mindset as we changed system.
  9. Give this a listen, seriously, not your normal pro with Academy background. I’m about 30 mins in, and although you can’t judge a player from an interview, this really is a fantastic insight into him. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Dunno, he was announced as going back on loan to Guernsey recently, but is still playing for the u21s. Maybe going back at weekends to play??? Anyone know any more than that?
  11. Nope….Ben Acey is his good mate, Tim Ap Sion is younger, currently injured…meant to be rapid!
  12. Those two, the SL mention of Alex Scott too. Plus starting to think about those beyond w/o an option, e.g. Joe Williams
  13. Guess the next thing we want to start hearing is contract updates? Not sure we will hear anything on Kalas until he starts playing.
  14. Certainly been talk of phasing in the wages to turnover ratio from 90% to 80% to 70%…yet to see anything that phases out the current £39m stuff. Part of me would be surprised if there wasn’t some form of phasing out. But the other part of me says - they know it’s flawed, let’s move straight to the new method, and everything gets brushed under the carpet!
  15. Yes, because we are predominantly talking about the playing wage bill in this discussion (than ffp per se)….and because under new FFP it is likely that it will be players wages being used not turnover / costs / p&l. You’ll see there is a calculation of percentage of holding company if you want to reverse engineer it? You know me though, I actually have both! ?
  16. Maybe one of the few times this season Nige might have a bench where he can actually make tactical changes or freshen up without lowering the quality level.
  17. These were the deals I captured:
  18. ***(Football side wage bill, includes football staff and academy, not just first team players) I think this season it will have come down a small amount, not too much. But next season, assuming we don’t go mad this summer I expect it to have come down quite a bit more, we will have lost the wages of: Martin Dasilva Bentley Moore etc Should Kalas stay, him and Wells will be on much less too. Pure guesswork, expect that wage bill to be £20m(ish).
  19. It’s the big unknown that isn’t really broken down in the accounts. Undoubtedly costs incurred by Ashton Gate Ltd and Bristol Sport, charged to Football, but lord knows what else.
  20. No, he runs back into it, flapping his arms ?
  21. Can’t divide by 35 using fingers and toes. Not even a Swindon supporter can!
