  1. And Grealish is the Brummie Alex Scott.
  2. I feel proud tonight. We gave it a real go and we're unlucky not to score, not helped by the officials. 3-0 a bit harsh but I can't argue with the quality of their goals, particularly that of De Bruyne. They knew they were in a game. The Brummie Alex Scott got some minutes for them near the end.
  3. Loved the NP prematch interview. This ain't the Johnson'sas as the clear message was we don't set up to stop them but we play our game. Music to my ears.
  4. Could be but we did release him and he signed for Exeter.
  5. The last time (I think) we brought players across direct from Ireland was the duo of Rory Holden and Jimmy Keohane. Didn't work out for us although they have carved out careers in the lower leagues.
  6. Excellent gesture and the second time City have done so to my knowledge, the previous being I think at home to West Ham in the cup. As for the game we all hope for a win but if its not to be I will settle for a committed performance free from injuries.
  7. Christ! If Frankie Fielding had a similar deal he'd have been paying us! In all seriousness his deal is well deserved having shown considerable improvement with no reason not to improve further.
  8. Gas win yesterday the final nail in the coffin for Robinson. Another one bites the dust.
  9. This is not sour grapes because Mehmeti and Cornick cannot play against Manchester City but their absence did bring it to the forefront of my mind again. I've never liked the rule. A loan player will usually be prevented from playing as his parent club don't want him 'cup tied'. Why? They currently have no current use for him, which is why he is on loan, and if he was, allowed to play they could get back a player who has experience of the Cup atmosphere if they remain in the competition. But even if loan players remain barred why does that extend to permanent signings? If you have signed and registered a player on a permanent contract it is a nonsense that you shouldn't be able to utilise him.
  10. Complaints about referees are common among football supporters everywhere so I found interesting a snippet from Guillaume Balage on ITV 4 tonight. Spanish referees given the choice of brandishing a yellow or red card will often pick the latter. So much so this season 16 Red Cards have been shown in the Premier League whereas the total in La Liga to date is 96. A pretty startling difference by any standards.
  11. Definite penalty as was the one he didn't for handball minutes earlier. As you say karma for their pen at there place where the player started to fall last season and hit the ground at the start of this, coupled with 2 we should have had that day and which we received an apology for.
  12. Superb performance. I'm really liking this formation at the moment which allows not just Scott to play further forward and influence the game but Williams too can utilise his full passing range.
  13. Since when did the term Ultras become part of English football? It is a European football term. Is it proof that Bristolians did not vote for Brexit?
  14. If we're talking television commentators there are only two, Jonathan Pearce and Martin Tyler. The rest are Opinionators who prattle on about all and sundry with whatever moronic sidekick is with them and never mention the match being watched. I've liked Tyler for years, back to the days when he commentated on Eredivisie for ESPN, but Pearce edges it now, and being a City fan is a bonus.
  15. I'm disappointed about the collapse of the Hummel contract but it is, what it is and let's hope this supplier is more secure. I'm not mad keen on the design of the new shirt having never really liked the old Hireite one. However, I'm more interested in its quality and fit which I have to wait and see on. Hummel shirts were roomy and I hoping this will be the same.
  16. We could pray. Seriously let's not get drawn into the Johnson tactics (both father and son) of setting up to counter them but instead try to play our game. We are naturally a counter attack side with quick transition and shouldn't change that.
  17. In an earlier thread on the issue I understood that there were different supplier agreements with some clubs other than the one City had. Was this ever fully explored. I still believe we should seek a solution with Hummel, a company of proven quality, than look elsewhere again.
  18. For me we should be working hard with Hummel to resolve the supplier issues. A company who really works with clubs to create unique designs is one I really rate and I'd be dismayed to lose them.
  19. Pity you don't need a (sanity) license to be a Sports Minister.
  20. Yet another owner who thinks he can sack his way out of trouble. I'm sure Keith will soon pick up another job. He still needs 6 clubs for a full managerial bag.
  21. One of the greats from the days when televised football had commentators (Wolstenholme, Davies, Moore) who actually told you what was going on, and importantly knew when to keep quiet, instead of today's Opinionators (Jonathan Pearce aside) who prattle on about all and sundry except the game in progress. An encyclopaedic knowledge of football he was a joy to listen to. He was also a lovely man as I discovered when talking at length with him at an APFSCIL dinner. RIP Motty.
  22. No reason not to believe the Lionesses could win the WC but it will be interesting to see how they cope with being one of the favourites in an overseas environment without the partisan English support. I don't know what stadiums are being used down under (they have some very large ones) and whether they will be packed but they can expect the usual 'warm' impartial antipodean welcome especially if they have to play the Matildas further down the line.
