  1. Let's get real there are nowhere near enough who'd want to stand and sing to fill the ends behind the goals. The spaces would look embarrassing. I hate to say it but this is Bristol, not Sunderland or Newcastle, not Manchester or Liverpool, and, apart from the odd game, its not a hot bed of football fervour. You're living in cloud cuckoo land if you think we'd out sing the away fans every week even with both ends as City only. The support is decent but compared to some parts of the country the passion is not there.
  2. Our record at home in front of big crowds is patchy but we have risen to the challenge in several occasions and hopefully will do so again tomorrow. The players have to grasp it because it will be our biggest crowd of the season that'll not be matched again in 2022/23.
  3. I see that Callum O'Dowda's sister, Jade, is competing for England in the Heptathlon.
  4. I see we have the 'wonderful' Keith Stroud in the middle on Saturday. I know our record with him is awful, although apparently Forest's is worse, but he's certainly a character and I sort of have a grudging like for him. I wonder what Sunderland's record with him is?
  5. That should be Tommy Backwell of course. Spelling mistake on the team sheet.
  6. A 3 year banning order is what can be expected of anyone convicted in court of setting off a pyrotechnic during a football match and City have pre-empted that. Yet again though we have this pointless debate about the setting off of smoke bombs and pyros in stadiums. The fact is its not allowed... Period. You break the rules and get caught you get punished and have to suffer the consequences.
  7. WOW! It wasn't the expansive England Lionesses of earlier in the tournament, as the German midfield out muscled our for much of the game, but this team is very together and they found a way. Pleased we didn't have a penalty shoot out against the Germans. The men now gave something to live up to and British sport, not just football, needs to build on this success now. We didn't build on Olympic success let's not waste the chance again.
  8. From one ex cancer sufferer to another, stay strong and get well soon Marvin.
  9. Like other posters I agree it's a sort of rehash of EFL on Quest but with less highlights and more chat, a presenter who's going to have to do better than his current monotone delivery (he ain't no Colin Murray) and no badges showing suppirt for prostate cancer. Need to give a little time to see if it improves.
  10. Here we go again! Dodgy pen and a stoppage time deflected goal. I don't want it but VAR in the Championship would surely have overturned the pen. We didn't play well 2nd half but should still have come away with a point. Oh well we go again against Sunderland next week.
  11. Is it that difficult to understand? He clearly didn't do enough in training to merit a place in the team.
  12. Dreadful news. Stay strong Nick and I will pray for a full and speedy recovery.
  13. I'm wondering what will appear if you scan the bar codes on the sleeves.
  14. I have had pies at the Gate but not often as I'm not a fan of what's on offerand they fall apart in your hand. If I'm going to have a pie I'd sooner pick up a Clark's on Ashton Road. It's half the price and stays together. If I'm going to splurge on food at the Gate then for me it's the Goat Curry. Not cheap but it's tasty and different from the normal football fayre.
  15. Germany it is. They are not free flowing but represent a threat through Popp, whose 6 goals equal that of Beth Mead. Oberdorf is certainly a commited defender, especially for a 20 year old. Looking forward to the final.
  16. Hoping Germany can get the better of France tonight. The pace of the French attack including the strength of Diani and the height of Renard could make them trickier opponents in the final than the solid but unspectacular Germans.
  17. Phenomenal! What a 2nd half.! 3 great but very different goals. Impact substitutions were amazing. We even had the luxury of Keira Walsh missing a couple of passes. Bring on the Germans, or the French, I don't care.
  18. Great half and great goal again. As you would expect from a team that hasn't lost in 34 games (excluding penalty shoot outs) Sweden are dangerous but we just have to keep our concentration and control. Once again I counted zero passes from Keira Walsh that did not find an England shirt.
  19. The Guardian has given it a little more thought than most and come up with something different from the usual predictios but I'm not sure I put too much store in. It certainly doesn't start well suggesting that Kompany did well to guide Aanderlecht to consecutive 3rd place finishes. For Aanderlecht not finishing in the top 2 in Belgium is a bloody disaster!
  20. Don't need to ask grandad (even if I still had one living). I'm old enough to remember pounds, shillings and pence, quarts, pints and gills, stones, pounds and ounces etc, could do arithmetic in all measures, and even do long multiplication and long division showing all the workings. I even know how to convert Centigrade to Fahrenheit and vice versa, and in no version do you multiply/divide by 2 and add/subtract 30.
  21. Not that it matters much but reports coming out of Sheffield are that he signed an initial 2 year deal with Wednesday and that they paid a 5 figure sum. Don't know if any sell on clause involved.
  22. Sam Bell and Tommy Conway have come up through City's youth system together and know each others game so well it's almost telepathic. It's one of the reasons that the development squads have been so successful in recent years. The problem Sam has is that at 1st team level he and Tommy are currently being viewed as either or rather than as a pair, so one will by necessity advance faster than the other. At present Tommy would appear to have the lead as a striker because he seems more physically mature than Sam. It may be that we don't see the best of either until they can spearhead City's front line together, something envisaged by Tinnion down the line.
