  1. Against Sarr I'd agree but give Denis a kick, he doesn't have the cohonas to play against proper men.
  2. I liked this tribute too. It was tasteful, well presented and covered the needs of family and friends alike. I'm for a single tribute either at the end of the season, or the beginning of one for friends we've lost in the last year but if the feeling is for something more frequent we could do it once per month.
  3. On that list, given his length of service with Barca and number of Spanish caps Gérard Pique looks underpaid.
  4. What would constitute the Bristol area or qualify a player? To play for Bilbao you need to be born a basque, but not necessarily in Spain. French basques count and Fernando Amorebieta was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Do we claim anywhere in the West Country (whatever that is defined as) or anyone born to a Bristolian.
  5. Perhaps he didn't fancy being another Galactico striker who fails to keep Karim Benzema out of RM.
  6. Bit of a risky move, but a brave one, for Wallsend Geordie Boy Sting to get his band mates together to take on the Mackems. Not sure that it'll be a message in a bottle he'll be receiving.
  7. We know it doesn't look as bad as Derby's old Baseball Ground where the local paper ran a Spot the Grass competition, but things have moved on. What interests me though is the quote "The match official that inspected said he wouldn't have played a League Two game on it, let alone a Championship game" . If true he could get in trouble for that remark.
  8. Funny isn't it, Man Utd defend worse than we do. I suppose their fans console themselves that while Man City have had the bragging rights in the past few years, have them now, and will likely for a few years yet, no matter how much money they have, or how many titles they win, they'll be seen as a bigger club that Utd.
  9. The perennial problem continues and its disappointing that we haven't brought in the quality of sound engineer to sort the problem. But let's not pretend it's an easy fix. Tannoy systems in outdoor stadiums are much harder to set up than in indoor arenas and anyone who's been to concerts will know how the sound quality can vary there. Many factors affect performance and how the stands are open to the elements, the infrastructure from which the sound may bounce off and the numbers in the stadium are just some of them. If you've ever seen a gig at the Colston Hall you will have witnessed how the sound quality can differ between a half full auditorium for the support band the the full house for the main act. Equally, how open or closed in a, stadium may be can significantly affect sound quality. Many other football grounds have rubbish tannoy systems too.
  10. So we need 4 steps to improve but there are only 3 steps to heaven.
  11. Your right I was wrong. Players in blue all look the same to me.
  12. I don't think Stroud's ever been a particularly bad referee, more quirky, but we're coloued by our poor record with him in charge. For the most part he was fine yesterday, although Chris Martin may have felt hard done by with some of the decisions that went against him. Sunderland fans can certainly have no complaints as another ref may have sent Pritchard for a very early bath yesterday.
  13. I'll wait to see what Fans Banter says as to yesterday's figure, especially the Sunderland away fans figure as it's the only resource I can rely on. Trying to hear the attendance figure on City's tannoy system is impossible and neither City or the Post these days publish the figures in their match report. Do we know how many ST holders we have now? There was no one in seat S21 Row 23 Seat 8 next to me yesterday as there wasn't all last season.
  14. This is, true and the DfT instruction is ridiculous. If we are going to have a defranchised service I always felt that bus routes should be sold in 3 year packages where neither the route or timetable could be changed during that time. Each package would include profitable routes and some which may not be profitable or even be loss leaders but which guarantee a service to the public.
  15. Not according to Mark Robins who's apparently doing his nut. Some form of inspection by a (local?) referee he brought in believed it to be unsafe and Robins us expecting that to be confirmed tomorrow. If so it could put our league Cup fixture at risk. Thankfully we don't have the same problems with Ashton Gate, although I'm not sure that the HPC pitch is even better.
  16. Let's get real there are nowhere near enough who'd want to stand and sing to fill the ends behind the goals. The spaces would look embarrassing. I hate to say it but this is Bristol, not Sunderland or Newcastle, not Manchester or Liverpool, and, apart from the odd game, its not a hot bed of football fervour. You're living in cloud cuckoo land if you think we'd out sing the away fans every week even with both ends as City only. The support is decent but compared to some parts of the country the passion is not there.
  17. Our record at home in front of big crowds is patchy but we have risen to the challenge in several occasions and hopefully will do so again tomorrow. The players have to grasp it because it will be our biggest crowd of the season that'll not be matched again in 2022/23.
  18. I see that Callum O'Dowda's sister, Jade, is competing for England in the Heptathlon.
  19. I see we have the 'wonderful' Keith Stroud in the middle on Saturday. I know our record with him is awful, although apparently Forest's is worse, but he's certainly a character and I sort of have a grudging like for him. I wonder what Sunderland's record with him is?
  20. That should be Tommy Backwell of course. Spelling mistake on the team sheet.
  21. A 3 year banning order is what can be expected of anyone convicted in court of setting off a pyrotechnic during a football match and City have pre-empted that. Yet again though we have this pointless debate about the setting off of smoke bombs and pyros in stadiums. The fact is its not allowed... Period. You break the rules and get caught you get punished and have to suffer the consequences.
  22. WOW! It wasn't the expansive England Lionesses of earlier in the tournament, as the German midfield out muscled our for much of the game, but this team is very together and they found a way. Pleased we didn't have a penalty shoot out against the Germans. The men now gave something to live up to and British sport, not just football, needs to build on this success now. We didn't build on Olympic success let's not waste the chance again.
  23. From one ex cancer sufferer to another, stay strong and get well soon Marvin.
