  1. I'd hoped for a little better than Gloucester City but it's a start. Perhaps if he gets game time and does well he can make a further step up after January. At least its close so he can be made available for the U21s when required.
  2. I won't be going anywhere near the England kits. I am totally adverse to blue on the home shirt but that's the worst England red shirt I've ever seen. The good news is that it won't be seen beyond the quarter finals.
  3. For the first time in a long time I don't fear this team will fold, or fail to produce in games back to back. I'm convinced the players believe in the style of football they are playing and if they stick to their guns goals and wins will come. Although it may seem easier after your team has won it is still no small thing that Dean Smith was full of praise for our approach and play last night. I don't want to get carried away (and I know Nigel won't) but I'm feeling good about my prediction of a 10th place finish right now, and we might even improve on that.
  4. Frustrating but overall the performance was good. Naismith made two individual errors in the first which was to cost us, and we conceded another set piece goal from a corner. However we matched Norwich all over the pitch and at times outplayed them, especially down the flanks where Sykes and Jay posed threats all night. Conway's headed goal from what seemed like the millionth cross was always coming and Semenyo's opportunist strike brought us back into a game we probably deserved to get something from. So as I said at the beginning I'm left a little frustrated but I can't be too critical of a performance that was another clear sign that progress is being made.
  5. Well I'm going so I choose to be confident (but not overly). We need to stop them getting down our sides and in getting the ball to Josh Sargent as poses a real threat. I don't think they have the quality in midfield they've had previously but we'll see. Take a draw for certain.
  6. So as 5 points is the one impossible tally from 2 games they're paying out on 6, not that generous then.
  7. The Queen carried on right to the end. She didn't stop and neither should we.
  8. This hits the right tone for me. As I've said earlier the Queen was a remarkable women who, whatever life through at her, never shirked from a sense of duty and loyalty and service to the nation, the British people and the Commonwealth. Right up to the end she was working, never stopping. I find it somewhat ironic therefore that in her memory the nation comes to a halt. I would rather honour her by following her example and carrying on.
  9. As I said I have no problem in marking respect but why does it have to be so mournful. Why can't we cheer for the Queen, have a two minute applause etc. Isn't it Russia that plays mournful music all day when their leader dies. Practically too people will have committed funds for Saturday, especially Preston supporters.
  10. I'm sad that the Queen has died and there is no doubting her service and loyalty to the nation, she was an amazing women. I don't see however while all sport should stop, except perhaps Horse Racing, during the period of mourning and lying in state before her funeral. She wasn't averse to having a good time so why can't we celebrate her life by giving her a rousing send off instead. Let's keep sport going and throw a party or two.

  12. Devastating news. Prayers are with Marcus and his family.
  13. I know it's early in the season and it doesn't really matter yet but it's still enjoyable that Boros 1-0 win tonight puts Cardiff in the bottom 3. And what about tonight's ref Darren Bond. Looks like he should be the drummer in a rock band led by Gareth Ainsworth.
  14. If this proves to be true, and the Police and CPS consider there is a case to answer, then the Chesterfield player can look forward to a long, perhaps lifetime, ban from football. Of course this is said without knowledge of any facts, mitigations etc.
  15. Of the younger players Joe Low, who captained the side, was probably the most composed and therefore it was fitting he got the winner.
  16. Won 1-0. Late winning header from Joe Low (I think).
  17. Omar Taylor-Clarke has not had the best of games but I may be being too critical. It's too easy to forget that, overage players aside, most of the City team are closer to 18 than they are 21.
  18. Substitions of Bell and Backwell has made little difference so far. I know Rose is on and i'm not sure but the other sub was Porton or Acey.
  19. 0-0 HT. Its pretty much been all City without truly threatening the goal.
  20. I'm more surprised by the omission of Owers to honest. Not even on the bench. He hasn't gone on a loan I'm unaware of has he? Or is he injured?
  21. I understand that people are peeved at what is perceived as preferential treatment of some clubs over others but that's not confined to football, that's life. But do we really expect the loan transfer market to be a level playing field? I'd be amazed if it was.
  22. I really don't care how many loan players teams have from PL sides or otherwise. While undoubtedly some have proven a big hit many others have failed miserably. There is simply no guarantee of success. Let's be honest Drinkwater didn't pull up any trees at Reading last year and many of the youngsters are playing in PL development sides that are getting soundly beaten by L1 & 2 sides in the JPT. As for getting them cheap I don't begrudge them that. I'd like to think if we were in that market we'd be seeking the best deal we could get too.
