I always wonder how, psychologically , coaches can hop from one club to another after having given their all, been kicked out and then head hunted by a new club all in the space of a few days.
Can they really take on board what has happened to them? Reset and dive a hundred per cent into a new project in so little time?
Do coaches who take a bit of time out come back refreshed and better for their experience ?
Maybe it’s simply weighed up by a need to work or fear of being out of the game

Going to Norwich with Smith apparently

Early kick off on a Sunday so rules out travelling by train, am surprised it’s that many..

Harsh on Denis Smith. Not harsh enough on Osman and Pullis.
Terry Cooper the top of the list for me. As well as everything he did for the club, his team played good football too.
Osman did have no money to spend and we did beat Liverpool under him so does need to be put in context

Yes i know this is a random point, i was out waking along the Thames path last Saturday and passed the doubletree hotel at Canary Wharf just as Derby’s squad were preparing to leave. Now if their financial position is to be believed would they be paying to stay in a relatively expensive hotel rather than just a couple of hours on the coach to save money?

Unfortunately Mexico was decided pretty much at the first corner, i saw someone on twitter suggest that it’s made mandatory that teams are made to stop twice, there could be some legs in this as it was the differing strategies that made Austin so watchable. There was a hint of it with Hamilton and Perez yesterday but it’s not really the same when the leader is far down the road
It does look like it’s Max’s title now, i actually don’t mind Max its Horner who irritates me although so many things have gone in his favour this year with the exception of Silverstone, winning when an unscheduled rule change only impact your main rival does seem a little hollow however

This exactly, even a tenner would induce people to use public transport. The extortionate price of public transport is my big bugbear with successive Governments trying to force people out of cars. I travel a round trip of 4 hours to every home game and would prefer to travel by train (to Parson St of course) but it is double the price and adds at least an hour to my journey.
Problem Bristol has is it’s public transport is woeful compared to virtually every other major British city with the exception of perhaps Leeds. I took my flatmate to Bristol for the balloon fiesta a couple of years back and their main assessment of Bristol was it badly needs a transport system.
The metrobus thing looks farcical and is like putting a Tesco value plaster over the problem. There have been opportunities like the tram a few years back when BCC didn’t want it going to Cribbs and so another city got the funding instead
I know it’s a cultural thing in Bristol peoples attachment to their cars but thats probably as much due to the lack of realistic alternative.

Dare i say it it’s also a masterclass in patience and splashing the cash doesn’t always bring success, they tried that before going back to Moyes and it took him a couple of windows to remove lots of deadwood. So have faith football can change quickly as they were dire last couple of times i saw them and now look at them

You like spending other people's money don't you?

I do sometimes wonder if Steve Lansdown is just too nice, and that’s what’s transmitted itself down to the players. I know he employs a CEO so he hasn’t got to do the day to day stuff but maybe he now needs to show his face consistently rather than a one off visit to show his face. And he needs to show that he isn’t going to accept players going through the motions and he needs to show the players that he backs his manager not just with money but that he isn’t going to allow the players to keep getting managers sacked and that if they don’t want to be here the mem is nice this time of year
If he does that and we keep losing then maybe look at making a change but without that we’re just going to be in a continual cycle like we’ve been for the last 20 years where hard work to improve our position routinely gets thrown away and we have to start again

I literally just said in a different thread that the impact of James going off last night and how it pretty much took us back to last seasons team shows why Pearson brought in Simpson and King to provide that leadership both on and off the pitch

As strange as it may sound i think last night showed us why Pearson brought in Simpson and King, once James went off we were rudderless as well as leaderless and it was pretty much last seasons team. Had one of them been on the pitch we’d have had that bit of leadership on the pitch even if both of their best days are behind them.

Thing that frustrates me is both Cardiff and Swansea were gifted new stadiums and they’ve been the backbone of their rise from the lower leagues

It’s interesting how it’s never Daniel Levy’s fault what goes on there

A good friend of mine is a West Ham season ticket holder, and he didn’t want Moyes anywhere near the club second time around. Delighted now though!! I thought it helped that they played without the fans for a while, as pre pandemic it was getting pretty toxic. Gave Moyes time to develop the team without the extra stress/ pressure the fans would’ve brought. I would be surprised if things had worked out as well under normal circumstances.
It certainly helped defuse the situation as the atmosphere had become toxic, more against the owners it has to be said.

Very happy for Moyes after everything he has been through. Arguably a better achievement doing it with West Ham now than Everton before because the levels are much higher in the Premier League these days in my opinion.
Living in this part of the world i know it took West Ham fans a long time to warm to him and many didn’t want him reappointed so is a much better achievement. Just goes to show some clubs suit certain managers and vice versa. He navigated a tough period where they weren’t playing well and the fans were on his back but slowly turned it round, i saw them a couple of times and they were dire and boring to watch
I see some parallels with Nige here at the moment and hopefully he’ll have the time to have a similar impact

Have just seen the Fulham West Brom game on quest, at least we didn’t get that referee one penalty that shouldn’t have been given and one red card which wasn’t too
Yesterday’s ref might have let a lot go but at least none of it was game changing

Am I allowed to compare QPR with Brentford?
Although there are two other clubs who are based in Hammersmith and Fulham whereas with the exception of Liverpool all the other cities you cite have only professional club

Didn't Russe talk about us playing in Europe within so many years in his master plan when Chairman.
Tbf we did play in the Anglo Italian cup so he wasn’t completely deluded

I’m kinda with Hammersmith and Fulham council on this one, land values in west London are high and they’re effectively asking for free or heavily subsidised land when they were allegedly owned by some of the richest people in the country. Seems a very rovers thing to do

I’m still staggered David Russe thought he could guarantee premier league football within 5 years when he had no money, deluded springs to mind
I did wonder how things might’ve gone had Ossie Ardiles got the job instead of Denis Smith though

Could also work the other way and wants Barnsley to lose, but while it’s fair to question their competence it’s probably unfair to question their integrity

It seems potentially the title has been decided in the stewards room. Is something of an anti climax. F1 has this unique ability to shoot itself in the foot
Obviously it’s not over till the fat lady sings but Lewis now effectively needs Max to have a dnf to have a chance which could happen but is probably unlikely
