Looking at the Covid news today, I think caution might be wise. Quite feasible that fan numbers will be restricted/ no fans. And with the 2023 World Cup, no room to extend season.

Totally agree and if I was going  (which I am not) I wouldn't contemplate buying a ticket until a few days before, just in case.

  2. Several games postponed this week, 42 positive cases reported in the Premier League in the last week and today the papers are reporting that the BMA are recommending, amongst other measures, a reduction in mass gatherings. Government to review the situation again on 18th December. Would not be a surprise to see ground capacities greatly reduced or even a return to ground closures throughout the end of December through January.

  3. Agree with comments above about keeping our powder dry til the summer. At the moment it looks like there is only one relegation place up for grabs and I would back us to pick up more points than Peterborough between now and the end of the season.

The big unknown is how covid will affect football in the coming months. SL has to be aware that at the current rate Omicron is spreading there is a real threat to mass gatherings being banned and stadiums closed again.

With Palmer the only way he will leave is similar to Nagy. Released on a free if someone will pick up his wages, or we subsidise those wages to ease his departure.

I know we've signed a fair few over the years but does anyone have a list of them?

It might be interesting to see how many went on to better things?

Cole, Akinbiyi and Webster are the obvious ones that hit the heights but we must have signed quite a number over the years?

    Cole was £500,000

I looked at it when it launched, and didn't understand how they made any money so gave it a swerve.

With a match bet, you expect that at full time the game will end in one of 3 ways, h/a/d. Either you win or the bookie wins.

With share ownership, the bet didn't have an obvious close point, which is why I found it confusing.

Fairly easy to understand. You bought shares in players. The better the player the more expensive the shares. If the player has a good week (scores a hat trick, gets transferred for gazzillions then his share price goes up. You either cash in your shares for profit or keep them and hope they continue to increase.

Or you take a punt on someone like Alex Scott who's share price would have been about 5p 18 months ago. Now would have been about 50p / £1 so you wait a couple of years for him to be sold then cash in when his price soars.

The problem this company had was they paid out dividends on your shares from their profits. I have no idea how this worked as I never bought into it, but it was the paying of these dividends that brought them down.

From memory Football Index was owned by 2 or 3 people from Wiltshire (possibly Chippenham).

I like FBC. It has its faults, they love a moan (Like all City fans), it's not perfect but it's raw and passionate City fans. Not scripted and a bit rough around the edges which for me makes it an interesting listen.

But I am sick of hearing about average players like Jamille Matt and Matt Smith. They are not the answer.

Totally agree, plus Ian justifying these players by constant pedalling of 'we're a long ball team.' No we are not. We are a team in transition that has players that are not comfartable with the ball at their feet. Bentley, Vyner, Baker, Bakinson being the stand outs. They tend to lump the ball long as it is the easy option. Until we employ better footballers we will continue to see long balls pumped upfield.

Enjoyed the pod as usual, had to laugh at the 'Dave Clement' suggestion. Paul Clement was also at Swansea and made a dogs dinner of that job too.

Shame the Derby fan wasn't called out a bit more on the cheating, particularly when he was banging on that it was the EFL's fault for allowing the situation to drag on for 2 years.

    Better sound too. Well done.

Typical Prem ref though, wants football to be a non contact sport except the stonewall O’Dowda foul on the winger that was inches outside the box. Tbf he was fairly shite for both sides, no favouritism to his shiteness!!

Haven't seen any replays but from the South stand it looked inside the box. O Dowda thought it was too judging by his body language. Stonewall free kick that both officials missed.

I’ve been trying on sky bet to find the odds on derby staying up but they are not offering them . Depending on what business we do in jan I think you could have a good bet right there

I've thought for a while now that they will stay up. Bit of a gamble though as any fire sale in January will end their slim hopes.

Go to Betfair and lay them to be relegated. Same bet different way of thinking.

With power and pace.  That’s what he deems necessary for PL, which is the aim, however far that looks away at the mo’.

I’m surprised posters still think the way we are playing now is how he wants to play in 3 years time!

Power and pace. You mentioned Oli Mcburnie in another thread he would be perfect. Trouble is his off field character isn't great and now on prem wages. Not sure what his situation is at Sheff United after his arrest earlier this year.
