It wasn’t long ago there was a definite move to persuade people to move to diesel, no responsibility shouldered for that I see!

I doubt if the government set the area, including the Portway is a blow to many, it will add miles to my journey as I will have to go out through Abbott’s Leigh and Portbury to get to the motorway and get to work that way, not reducing pollution at all. Either that or a big sweep to the East and back to North Bristol.

I doubt I’ll get a grant, I’ve never qualified for any handout of any kind from the state.

Just put a bike rack over your number plate.

London, Brum, Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester have decent options that we don't have. The tram system in Manchester is superb and cheap. DWhy can't we utilise the unused railway lines all over the city and put trams on them? amn cheaper than the pie in the sky underground.

At the mo, park and ride is the only alternative to paying as I see it.

Would have been even cheaper when it was first proposed by BCC and reported in the EP back in the late 70's early 80's.

I agree with most of your post, but I do think just because goalkeepers tend to be somewhat better at dealing with the back pass now does not mean you shouldn’t still try to close him down. Especially if it’s wet or windy.

Agree that it should be done on occassions and the proof of that was Semenyo last year. Unfortunately Weimann does not have Semenyos pace. Most of Weimanns are pointless and he fails to put any pressure on the keeper. (not having a go at Weimann as he is one of our better players more the coaching staff who should be coaching him when to go and when to stay put).

As per usual, you’re spot on.

I have been crying out in the south stand for someone in our team to physically let their opposite number know that they’re in for a tough game.

It is so frustrating seeing our half hearted attempt at a press. We stop 3 yards short of the man every bloody time.

Even more frustrating is our total lack of a second and third press, thus allowing the player on the ball one or two easy options to bypass the press . Without this the initial press is a total waste of time. And talking about pressing can someone explain to me why Andi Weimann keeps running 40 yards to close down the opposition goalkeeper to absolutely no effect apart from wasting valuable energy.

  6. Wish him all the best, but echo the worries of other posters that ill health may force him to look at the bigger picture. He did say in a very early interview that he would give it everything if remaining healthy... remember his first bout of covid was very bad, he couldn't walk or get out of bed for weeks.

I always feel that he's made a rod for his own back.

Every time we come up the talk is always about promotion and that sets a tone of expectation and promise. Of course this has to be the aim, but I am sure that if he had said that the first aim is to build and maintain a solid championship club with a positive playing identity that this would have been accepted.

Ultimately that would have been more than we'd ever had in my lifetime as a "big" league one club and it may well have clicked at one point resulting in a promotion. I always feel that talk of promotion was a big arrogant in a league like this and I am not sure that many other clubs our size talk this way and some of the "smaller" ones that passed us did so methodically without fanfare.

I hate the rebuild now as I feel it's sucked the little bit of life that was left from when I started going in the mid-90's. It's the same problem that Cardiff and Swansea have now. It is no coincidence that games against Cardiff feel shit compared to past, but I also recognise that the games moved on and this is probably the only way to survive. I am sure that there are many who would hate to go back to the old and they are probably the future and are more likely to spend in other areas of the ground.

He has shown a disdain to lower income fans imo, but billionaire owners often don't understand this reality so he's not unique,  and he has also often got it wrong when it comes to fans who want to make an atmosphere. Problem is that people will sacrifice a lot of that for on the field success/excitement as they did at Cardiff, but that has not happened.

The team is as sterile as the ground - Can you see any future Murray's, Tinnion's, Gow's or Gus Ceasers in this team? It doesn't even have to be linked to success as Albert Adomah proves. Fans like players that get them off their seat, or are absolute battlers who achieve a certain level of performance.

Also though I am just getting old and the "characters" as I see them in football are slowly dying in the face of an ultra professional, public facing and highly athletic billion dollar industry.

Went massively off topic there I realise, but I do respect Lansdown for what he has done and I am aware we could have much worse, but he is also part of the problem with football in my opinion. I don't even mind the Bristol sport stuff as I can kind of see what he's trying to do there having also done a tour of Barcelona's stadium myself once.

Do feel it's better the devil you know, but even if it did go tits up I am sure there would still be people around to fight for its existence.

Yes we have 11 of them in the team....in fact Gus Ceaser was so poor he probably wouldn't even get in this side.

Last Saturday, Barnsley's goal came from our own throw in.

Pring (I think) goes backwards to Atkinson instead of up the line away from goal. Atkinson is in a tight spot, close to the touchline and under pressure, manages to do no more than punt the ball straight out of play - Barnsley now have a throw in from basically the same position we were in and, with a few simple touches, had opened us up and were in on goal.

Yet again, we fail to do the absolute basics - execute a simple throw in! - and gift the opposition easy opportunities to score.

    Beyond infuriating.

Atkinson had time to turn inside and roll a simple pass back to Bentley thus retaining possession. Instead he sliced an upfield punt out for a cheap throw in about 10 yards up the pitch.

Bit frustrated about no POTD, I’m up there for work today and it’s 50/50 on if I could have made the game, options taken away from me now unless I go into the home end and I’m not sure I can behave myself enough for that!

Why not get a ticket for the home end then find a friendly steward, inside the ground, and ask if you could be moved to the away end.

This is where I differ from most on the forum. Cracking saves are great but they don't impress me as much as others. These higher level pro's train all week to make saves like that, probably making 30-40 saves like that every week if not more. I want to see a keeper who exhibits good decision making and takes pressure off defenders. Why should our centre halves be heading balls underneath their own crossbar all afternoon? And then when the goalkeeper does come, he doesn't get within the next ******* postcode of the ball. No defender wants that behind them.

MOTD was waxing lyrical over Ramsdale yesterday because of the SAVES he made...................and they were great saves, especially the Madison free kick....BUT what impressed me the most in the 20 odd minutes I watched in the concourse before the game was the crosses he was collecting and you could tell from the defenders reactions they appreciated that every last bit as much as the great saves he made.

Totally agree with everything you say. Bentley just does not command his box.

He's a decent keeper but no more.

I hope you're right, but going in a goal up at half time I would have hoped to see more 2nd half.

They are as bad as any team I've seen for a while, and we created very little. Rarely controlled the game and struggled to keep the ball, again . The win was imprtant, but still very worried about performance.

    Easy cop out ?
Someone getting relegated would have had,
£100m for the year in the Prem.
£40m  First year back in Championship
    £30m  2nd Year
    £20m  3rd.

Not sure the figures are current, but they are fairly recent. At the same time the others get £4.5m solidarity payment.  So £13.5m Vs £90m in the same period. Add the problems from the lack of fans money due to COVID and it skews it even more. It allows teams to keep Prem squads together, while the likes of teams like us have to build at a disadvantage.

An extreme example , 3 different teams relegated each year could mean 9 teams getting that advantage by year 3, a third of the division. It makes a difference.
Look at it another way. Norwich go up pocket £100m, come down pocket £40m , go up £100m , come down (it looks likely) another £40m next year. So those 2 years in the Championship (last years promotion year & Next year) they would be given £80m against our £9m. It's why teams yoyo

And don't forget the players these clubs  sell when relegated.eg Nathan Ake £50 million.

He was doing ******* awful regardless of takeover so wouldn't have been a surprise anyway. It won't be the glitz and glamour manager next, it'll be someone who can guide them to lower mid table before that. Anyone reckon Rafa has a clause in his contract where he could go back to Newcastle if Ashley left?

Really...Finishing 12th and 14th with half a championship team and no say on incoming transfers. That really is awful, wouldn't want us finishing in such lowly positions with poor players.
