  1. Back in the day we used to have a 4 pack each (could have been 6) of barley wine before heading into town as it was so cheap. We were well gone before getting there ! Later in life, I was in a pub in Sheffield (Frog and Firkin maybe) which boasted the strongest beer in the UK and anyone that could drink a number of glasses of the stuff (can't remember how many) would get a medal and free drinks for the night. It was barley wine ffs - I lapped it up and still have the medal somewhere.
  2. I think it was also in the email with the streaming code - either FGR or Exeter.
  3. I probably qualify for one of those ! But its just the knee jerk, small minded, and mean spirited crap that gets me.
  4. lost on a few though.

  6. Finally got ours this afternoon. Neat little package (ooh matron).
  7. Minimum £15m. For maybe 2k extra seats ?
  8. Not that easy. The Atyeo stand is not now symmetrical with the pitch. To fill in the end at the Dolman side would mean a realignment of the Atyeo stand.
  9. Not sure when the ground refurbishments took place, but I'm guessing that had a lot do do with the lower average attendances at that time. Similar to us in that respect. Their attendances "when they are shit" are still bloody good. Just to put it in perspective, when we went down the leagues in the 80s our attendances went as low as 3k averaging under 5k in one season. .
  10. They play in England (Oswestry), but they also represent a Welsh town (Llansantffraid) which is where they began. Hence their full name -The New Saints of Oswestry Town & Llansantffraid football club, bit of a gob full, so known as just TNS. TNS was originally an IT and logistics company bought out by BT and to keep the name TNS they had to call themselves The New Saints.
  11. Nope. Urban myth. You'd have to go back to 1898 to see Newcastle get an average that low. They've had plenty of low attendances but their average has always been high. Again; http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/newu.htm
  12. Yep, for Aberdeen. City were after him rather than his brother, but they came as a pair. Steve was a Scottish schoolboy international full back and came to City at 15, Tom was 2 or 3 years older.
  13. Pre or post match, The Vines at WBA takes some beating. Proper curry half and half with a few pints in a pub full of Baggies and City.
  14. Years ago, part of the deal to bring Steve and Tom Richie to the club was the whole family coming down to run a digs for apprentices as well at Steve and Tom. I know at least 6 apprentices who were in digs at age 15/16 in those days and I'm pretty sure the same applies today.
  15. Urban myth - they have fantastic support. You'd have to go back to the late 19th century to see Newcastle have an average that low. The stadium was developed over the years so a big jump around those development times. http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/newu.htm
  16. Small matter of peoples jobs and notice period to wickes. From memory, wickes were given 2 years notice a while ago.?
  17. Nope, its the off centre stripe playing havoc with the OCD.
  18. Horrendous. Double horrendous.
  19. Two evenly matched teams with Portsmouth shading it and the difference being Pack who is the best player on the pitch by some distance. Stick him in our team for this game and it would be won already. Nothing up front for either team, no creativity in our midfield at all with loads of safe passes. As a fitness and conditioning game, it'll do the job, but boring as hell as a match with us being very predictable. Its early in the season so hopefully they can kick on. I like these pre-season games generally, but I can understand those that don't watch and are not interested as they are normally just like this one.
  20. Yep, as per the email from the club; As a Season Ticket holder we are delighted to send you your Robins TV streaming voucher code to watch City's pre-season home friendlies for free: - Wednesday, July 6th – Cheltenham Town (2pm) - Tuesday, July 12th – Portsmouth (2pm) - Tuesday, July 19th – Forest Green Rovers (2pm) | Exeter City (4.30pm)* *Either Forest Green Rovers or Exeter City will be broadcast Robins TV.
  21. Its all a load of bollox. Away fans should never pay less than home fans, madness. If they want to make a difference, then £30 for home AND away fans is fine - but that will never happen, even though every EPL club could afford to do it.
  22. Your predecessor passed away some years ago. Famous for his dislike of the academy system.
