Do you know what cognitive load theory is? Although I have qualifications in psychology directly relating to football I don't.

An answer to how do you assess? By players performances and actions, and talking to them. Frequently because of differing learning styles individuals will not have internalised all information, some will have misunderstood,  and some will take information literally as it was presented and that leads to challenges.

In any group of eleven, or twenty plus (a squad) it should be expected that people will display differing learning styles and difficulties like ADHD.

So, in order to promote deeper understanding information needs to be in differing forms, and repeated, repetition is the key to deep learning and competency. Periodized and repetitious education on task beats episodic jumping from task to task.

When was football turned into such a deep thought process it's a simple game not rocket science.

It was their bloody brief to come in and change things quickly! I'm not buying into another 'project'

It was just another excuse to get him in. The Johnson reign all over again does it excite me next for next season not a chance. I think we will lose valuable experience and thats what's kept us afloat in this league.

It would probably mean nothing to a lot of the moaning brigade on here but this club will continue to grow in my opinion as you only need to see record attendances this season .families are attending football as an outdoor family activity and if these moaners don’t attend they won’t be missed, at the end of the day it’s about supporting your club win or lose .

You mean day trippers that don't create atmosphere. Go careful who you claim to be moaners!! It's not moaning and what do you class as moaning?  Bristol city stopped growing ages ago with the unprofessional and crap decisions the Lansdowns have made go cruel back in your hole.

I don't think any of the 'European Super League' teams you mention give a monkey's about their fans.

What clubs do it's creeping in the lower leagues as well with owners taking over upsetting fans etc.

That is the key for me too. Dishonesty is a real turn off and I don’t do business with those I don’t trust. The problem is that once a culture is bad it takes real action to change it.
unfortunately I have no confidence in the board to make sound footballing decisions. Even if Manning makes a fantastic start to next season they will probably react by selling our best performing players at Christmas and then blame the manager as we once again fall short.
The club has proved time and time again to lack the ambition to progress. It’s a great shame, but that’s the way I see it.

And your bang on with how you see things.

This is an interesting one. I wonder how much money Steve will have saved in "efficiencies" through running the Bristol Sport stable in comparison to the price he ultimately gets for the football club (if he can untie it) or the whole lot (if he can't) versus the price he wants/investment he has made? Nobody is really interested in investing in Rugby or Basketball at a huge level (in fact Rugby Union is a basket case of a sport right now below international level) and not many people who might be looking to buy a football club want a Rugby Club and a Basketball Club and their associated running costs "chucked in" as part of the deal.

I think Bristol Sport is the heaviest of millstones around the clubs neck.....would be interested if anyone thinks the opposite.

All pipe dream from sir Lansdown thinking we could do a Barcelona,One thing I do know we are no Barcelona,If this was a dream of his maybe he should of made Bristol city football club successful first but I still don't agree with it being under the same umbrella and yes I think it has halted any progression the football club needs to make.

I firmly believe that people not renewing in the South stand is exactly what the club wants.

This enable the club to sort out the singing section placement without upsetting too many other season ticket holders, as they will, in the main, be able to still accommodate them in the stand. Therefore not having to offer inducements to move to the Dolman or Lansdown.

Yet another c**k by them why put the signing section in corner in the first place.

For those who don’t know or are unsure, I was a NP fan, I don’t think he should have been sacked (although we all knew the writing was on the wall and there was no new contract forthcoming), LM has a long way to go to make me ‘believe’, however some of the replies on here are so far off the football I remember as a whole.

The levels of confirmation bias on here are unreal, those guilty of it won’t be able to see it and will likely get defensive, but any objective poster will see the sample size and handpicked NP games being offered up by some posters as some of the good times under Nige, but will know that they aren’t a fair reflection or representation of his whole time here.

Watching Bristol City FC has been a slog for a long time, let’s not pretend NP had us playing like Keegan’s Newcastle please. It a shame NP didn’t get a new deal (pending a few more decent results) or that he didn’t see out his contract, but let’s not try to convince ourselves that we were watching scintillating football. For the sake of the club, otib, fellow supporters and themselves, some supporters need to lose their rose tinted and move on from NP, not saying support or forgive the ownership, but forget about your ex, otherwise you may find that your love for club won’t return and you’ll forever have a large, ostrich shape hole in your heart.

My love for this club was lost when Lansdown decided Bristol sport was the way to go just imagine they did this at Manchester utd Liverpool arsenal there would be up roar in fact is there another club that does this? Think I've said before Lansdown had us believe he was the savoir of our club when he used to come on the pitch and give us his bull about our future and that we will gain promotion blah blah The ground was rebuilt and that was it debt started to flow. Something changed for me after cotts left and I stopped my season ticket there after. It wasn't until the summer of this season I got my spark back brought a season ticket after a few years of membership picking and choosing games optimistic about Pearson building something this season. Scott left Alexander left then Pearson and his team and the lies and the unprofessional way they went about it knocked me back now it's a chore to even attend the remaining games. It's gone and I hate to say it. 35 years supporting city since I was 11 we've not exactly been prolific but at least it felt like our club until the end of that fantastic season in league 1. Citys in my heart but only half that heart is still beating.

Yeah noticed a couple of players go up to him checking if he was ok

If he was ill why the f did he come on? Surely manning knew.

No ones said anything about it being driven the medical staff.

But, if the story is that he initially failed a medical in the summer, we’ve now signed him in the January under a new medical team, and he’s now having real trouble with constant tendinitis ever since he joined, that is causing him to not being able to train properly, nor be anywhere near in contention for the u21s let alone the first team. It’s not a good look.

    Couple that with:

Tinnion - ‘he’s fine, but going through a mini pre season’

‘he was the best player in Ireland’

Manning - ‘he’s picked up a little knock’

He’s now clearly not even training.

Then add in the fact by the time next season rolls around, he won’t have played a game in the best part of 10 months, and will be a standard light years ahead of where he’s come from. That’s assuming he’s even good enough to be considered for the first team.

It’s really terrible optics all round, but pretty consistent with everything coming out of the club, let’s be honest.

Bring back David Rennie I say and I'm sure they would of picked up on something in the summer (Professional). Not sure what they are covering up because it's seems very odd in my own opinion tinnion and co got the transfer through in Jan because they where desperate to land him( Amateurs). For what ever reason it sums this club up 100%.

The token revisionism - 'Tinman' this that and other is so, so transparent.

@Cole Not Gas explain to me how Tinnion gave Bell his chance.

He didn't sign him nor Conway. Tim Kirk did.

He didn't develop him nor Conway. Gary Probert did.

He didn't play him, nor Conway. Pearson did.

He didn't integrate him, nor Conway. Pearson did.

Aside from finding local loans (which literally anyone could resolve/organise, and some - Bells loan to Grimsby - were a waste of time), what's he done?

Out of likes but 👌 to you, Everyone thinks the sun shines out his northern arse.

Keep Sam (Conway is ******* off anyway), and make sure you report this back, give Liam the rest of the season now to show if he can cut it or not against ALL TEAMS not just the likes of Southampton and Leicester City, kick the despicable Sid's arse right out of it and kick the incompetent Crayon Boy's arse right out of it. Oh, and dismantle Bristol Sport from top to bottom and sack the lot of them.......................

Well said get the lot gone Big time Charlies..

We won’t have long to wait, as Plymouth could certainly provide a different test.

Big credit to Manning and the team for a really bright performance yesterday.   What baffles me is how they could play with such intensity and determination yesterday and yet that’s been totally lacking in the previous few games.  If we could get some consistancy in that area, we would probably see a big upturn in results.

Cue a sluggish, downbeat performance at Plymouth, to leave us all baffled and frustrated again!!!

Easy they put themselves in the shop window manning doesn't need to do anything to motive them in big games. Unfortunately this club and the way it is only performs against better teams(Cup games and Southampton 😂). Unless we get the club performing in EVERY game then we won't get to where we want to be. It says everything about the club perform on the cameras to make us look good. It's becoming tiresome as I've said before. People only take notice of these games and not the bigger picture.

If he said Liam Manning was the right man for the job & should be given time & money would you agree (him being an ex pro)?

I'd be surprised if many City fans went home today thinking Max papered over the cracks.

That win does paper over the cracks what's changed since last week what's changed in the last 20 years absolutely nothing,It's the same old same old everyone gets excited over odd games it's about the season not beating tops teams now and then and getting nowhere.

Unbelievable saves today, especially the two (3?) from Vardy.  His reflexes and agility are truly sensational.

Hope he stays here for a while yet, but also curious, is he Premier League bound or is this his natural level?  What would his value be?

I've no idea his contract length but would definitely give him another 3 years.  We do still need a better back up keeper though.

MOTM for me if it wasn't for those saves that game would of been different.

Despite supposedly losing the dressing room, being out of his depth, and boring I'd say our manager deserves a lot of credit for today's excellent victory against Premier League bound Leicester.

Although I expect several of you to disagree.

He's Big time Charlie if it wasn't for vardy missing a hat full of chances and O'Leary MOTM for me we would of been out of that game but we taken a our chance. In my opinion Plymouth game will be alot harder and that's where he's earns his money. One game doesn't paper over the shambolic running of this club.

Watching his 3 pre-match interviews tonight makes it clear he wants to; play and coach for years to come, he really respects Liam as much as many others have come out and said, he finds numerous positives in recent months, acknowledge the detailed understanding that now exists about opponents, beat Leicester for the club and for us fans.

I think this is one of the better pre-match briefings we've seen in the last few years - do you agree?

    No all the same "right".

Imagine if the Lansdowns took your advise and just packed their bags and said that’s us we’re off. WTF would we do then? Are we all going chip in to pay the £20 or £30 million debt every year?

    Debt caused by Lansdown himself?
