No, I have chosen not to answer it because I have no interest in discussing the merits of 8-1-1 v 2-6-2 add infinitum. The manager will decide what system he wants to play and what we say won't change that

You can dress it up however you like but what it boils down to endless recycling of the ball, are you going to argue that point ..?

I go back to my original post where my point is that copying possession based, constant recycling of the ball with no risks (like Man City do) is what will kill off the game we love as a spectator support because it is as boring as f__k...

If we played like man city and scored 4 or 5 most games, it most certainly wouldnt be boring, and guardiolas barcelona, with messi xavi and iniesta are probably the best technical football team the world has ever seen and scoring 4/5 per game was easy for them… we are bristol city, and not very good, set up with players designed to play counter attacking football and not enough money to sign the players needed to play highly skilled passing football.

There is no doubt in my mind that he is quality......but he is young, being played in the wrong role and gets no service.  In the the correct tactical set up he would thrive, I am very Disappointed in LM for persisting with the lone striker formation?  There is nothing wrong with the tactics, it is just that Tommy is just not suited to it?  I do appreciate that LM has little choice, to an extent, so it is now up to him to find a solution during the window, and show us just how tactically aware he is?  We have failed to score against Rooney's (GONE!) Birmingham and a very average Millwall side.............Tommy should NOT  , and i am certain will NOT be sold, but it is now up to our new manager to create a team that plays to TC's strengths.

Im not sure we are playing to anyones strengths, sam bell is having a significant drop off too,,, fast paced counter attacks with a high quality playmaker made us dangerous last season, knocking the ball around at the back and taking no risks doesnt suit our lot

I agree with most of what you said except for the big I’ve highlighted. The only real bit of excitement was when Williams had a punch up with a Millwall player in front of Area 51. Both could easily have received a red card

Agreed, what was happening wasnt working, some alternative plan of how to play just didnt happen,,,maybe 2 strikers through the middle.. maybe encouraging full backs to push on,, and be more positive causing millwall to have to worry about defending against us, but there was only being passive, and then bang, they score,, to the surprise of no one who was watching.

You probably need to sit down with him/her tomorrow and have a serious talk. If they think that today is what following City away is like then they’re in for some serious disappointment in life 😁

Glad they enjoyed it, you picked a good one!

They have been going to home games long enough to know how it really is!

IIRC didn’t someone say it would technically look like a top 10er (or at least top half) due to kalas, HNM, Bentley, JD etc wages will still be included? Would imagine there’ll be a huge drop in the next set (for this season)

Yes the wages saved from that group must be huge, literally millions will be saved now this lot have gone, and you wouldnt say we are significantly weaker now they have all gone!

  6. Was anyone really expecting a call from the club regarding the manager appointment?? Si, its jon, how you doing pal, so we are looking at liam manning,, we are giving you the final decision… what other clubs do that?.

and as for the accounts being released,,  I consider myself to be fairly switched on,, but the date that bristol city announce this year’s corporate losses (maybe even a gain this year if scotts fee is included) has zero impact on my life, or my opinion from a supporters point of view! Are people planning partys to check the figures and need advanced notice of when to book a suitable venue? Presumably some accountant within the group is preparing the accounts, which may or may not require auditing, which maybe outside the sphere of influence of jl, so him not knowing the date of release is of little consequence to him or anyone else,, there are plenty of other complaints to raise about how the club is run!

We're a small club that plays in a big City. Our history is very very modest, at best.

We should expect better. Unfortunately, we've missed the boat on appointing the right Manager's, many nearly moments and an ownership that isn't ruthless enough to see us get to the top.

Yes, agree with all this,, i could say we are shite,, but thats more rovers level,, we are mediocre,, and anything we can do to get even some regard from the main stream, like beating united, is celebrated as a great time in our history

  9. I spend quite a lot of time in the stoke area, my other half is up there,, there really isnt an explanation of why they should have had so much time in the top league,,, obviously the coates family has a lot to do with it over recent times,, but its not a wealthy city, the city has 2 clubs, much like bristol, so support is split, the stadium is 20 odd years old now and isnt brilliant, but they are correctly regarded as a next level up club than us… perhaps it is the hostile environment, and aggressive will to win that we just dont have that makes the difference?

Can we up football wage budget to £37m, splash out another £5-6m on additional fees/loan fees and have a entering peak Brennan Johnson we turn down 2 substantial bids for..

I dont know, but he didnt have all that available immediately in the championship did he? And we could splash out 5-6 million on fees. What he did there was incredible, but it wouldnt happen here because we are fundamentally pretty shite.

My best guess for Cornick would probably be in the £10-15k per week range. Unsure how bonuses etc factor into that, perhaps that would be basic, but it isn't uncommon for the level.

Its highly likely to be in that region,, and that salary should get us a higher level striker, or the attacking midfielder we are apparently looking for? Free up joe williams too and thats another 10-15k a week as well!

I would have said his long throw was the only thing he offers. Nothing else he does is up to the standard needed in the Championship. Hopefully we will sign some strikers in the future and we can off load him.

He is honest and works hard. The 300k was cheap, but clearly he is going to be on decent wages here, hes an experienced pro,,, and thats where we have the problem. we are struggling with wage budgets, allegedly, while we are paying salaries out on several of the squad now who arent really up to it.

If Manning gave £100 to everyone who went to the next home game you'd criticise him for it still.

You're beyond ridiculous at this point.

To be fair,, dropping tgh for williams was/is an absolutely ridiculous decision, only justified if tgh was injured, which he certainly didnt look when he was brought in…

J.J was someone whom everybody looked up to. He had the respect of everyone. He was not an unknown from the lower leagues who had achieved nothing in their careers.

He had a great playing career but his first management gig was with us,,, and was a man that commanded respect.

Johnson snr lost 9 out of the first 12 didn’t he ? Its not the current mangers fault it’s all down to the boy and the binman that’s where your anger should be

Well manning has come in and tried to introduce a style that only 2/3 have the ability to deal with, and then one of those lads, tgh, hes dropped for the last few games in favour of williams who most certainly doesnt have that ability. Bell has been transformed by this tactic, and not in a good way, and it appears naismith and wells saw enough of it in commentary to be less than impressed as well, though that’s because it wasnt working cause no one can play it.

as for the owners,, how many times have they tried the new inexperienced coach/ manager, and then seen it not work? The times we have been stable has been when a stronger experienced guy has been able to build a togetherness, the last time a younger inexperienced manager worked properly for us was joe jordan 30 odd years ago… yet they keep doing it!
