Points vs Ipswich. Are you having a laugh?

Well we aint getting points against anyone else, we are better suited to playing against that sort of team.

Still think we already have enough points as we are but that’s not a defence of the ******* shitshow being served up.

Yeah im not sure now, that table has tightened right up,, sheffield weds were gone a few games ago, and they are close too, more importantly, we are in pathetic form, where as other are picking up points, in 3/4 weeks it could look very different unless we get a win or 2,,, that 6 point gap could be closed up in a couple of weeks.

Hard to see where the points are going to come from.

We have more chance of points against ipswich and swansea than we do against cardiff and qpr,,, they are much more open in their play and we can compete better against that sort of side

I’m going to be as fair as I can be.

I don’t think - on paper - Manning was a terrible appointment. If you appoint someone with Championship experience then you often end up with someone whose career has peaked and there is a solid argument for gambling on a manager succeeding at a lower level as someone who might have the potential to get promotion.

BUT it is not working, we are going backwards and it is increasingly hard to identify the positives Manning has brought or to believe he has the answers to improve us.

Ultimately - unless he has a very compelling analysis of what has gone wrong so far and how he can fix it (beyond blaming the players for not understanding and implementing his tactical genius) then he has to go and JL and BT need to be honest with themselves about how this appointment went wrong and what needs to happen to get it right next time.

The answer would have been to have recruited the high quality play maker, and high quality big striker in january, or even better in the summer when scott was sold. Twine might have been it but hes ####ed, and mabude might have been it, but hes never played a pro game in his life, when your technical director comes out the day after the transfer window closes and says we are definitely going to buy a big striker in the summer, you know we ballsed it right up when we had the chance to improve it. The other issue is the coach not having a clue how to set the team up for teams who come for a scrap, or have any thought, or intention, to change it when it doesnt work.

  5. Had to turn off the press conference interview, perhaps its my insomnia causing frustration, but i feel hes towing the party line, which he has to do in public, but i dont believe what hes saying any more than he does. in terms of the system and behaviours b.s,he has been hung out to dry. To win a game at some point you have to score, and hes really the best chance we have of scoring goals, the side needs to be set up to create chances for him if we insist on playing 1 striker, and its the game plan that’s messed up, combined with a lack of creativity. Perhaps if twine could have played more it would have been different?

I know one of the clubs watching him are fully aware of how Tommy is being impacted by our current way of playing.

    Who is that club?

  7. Good luck to benarous, would be great to see him get some minutes before the end of the season. As an aside, that basic passing drill,,surely thats under 10s stuff, and yet some of them were off target?!

Pearson's sacking was nothing to do with money.

The club simply didn't like that he was more respected than them, in certain elements of the supporter base, and when things weren't going well for him, he went public to keep the fans on his side. The second he done this, there is no way the club would sit there and stand for it. Pearson was not sacked for football or financial reasons! It was because those running the club simply didn't like him, his approach or his popularity. The day he questioned Jon Lansdown's ambition, was the day he secured his P45.

The new appointments are definitely all on Tinnion, but I don't think he was behind NP's sacking, he secured that all by himself.

If i was a billionaire in the public eye, I wouldn’t put up with it either,,, its clear to me that pearson wasnt well liked, and that played a significant role in him getting sacked, and being sat in midtable was a good enough excuse to do it.

Didn’t Tinnion say at the start of the season that Pearson had promoted him into the first team squad and he now wouldn’t leave that level?

..On loan in the Conference South.

I think some of our first team squad are actually conference south level.

  10. Whoever is in charge will still need a striker and attacking midfielder, we completely ballsed up the january window again and that hasnt helped. Im not fussed about manning particularly but the cup games were superb, some of the league games have been superb, and we have been getting turned over by more abrasive teams for years now.

If we want young and upcoming, put King in charge. He will not be worse. In fact I am almost certain, he would have been a better choice post Pearson.

    But get Tinnion out

Theres no way they want king around, his name, experience, and regard in football ####s all over theirs, hes a threat to their positions.

  12. Its not hard to predict we would get turned over by qpr and sheff weds, cardiff will beat us as well, and we will look decent again against swansea. Chapter 2 of the coaching manual explains how to play against physical battling teams, but liam hasnt got that far yet

  13. Have to agree with daves article, it wasnt hard to predict the qpr result, we just cant deal with those teams, and sheffield weds and cardiff wont be much different, then we will look better against swansea. Combine that with sone questionable subs, we will be lucky to get 2 points from the next 2 games.

When I used to play I was always told "if your hammy goes in the the first half, you've not warmed up properly"

Nah that could have been a load of bullshit but if you think about it there is probably some logic to it.

Not sure, it had been fine with some serious work load for 20 odd minutes before it happened…. I always think the outright quick players are more susceptible to hamstring injuries, michael owen used to get them a lot, their movements are more explosive, and the wear on their bodies is high.

  15. The transfer window was pretty awful for manning, money spent but only one incoming who is likely to have much game time,, and hes injured.  Not signing a number 9 is a killer though. There have been some tremendous performances, and yet we could easily see what would happen against qpr, and it did, we were pathetic… I haven’t seen anything at this point to really say getting rid of pearson was worth it.

    Two observations;

We might not be a tall side but Rob Dickie is definitely our best CB threat at corners since Aden Flint, fair play to him.

After Saturday’s effort I’d rather let Max O’Leary have a shot at goal than let Nahki anywhere near another free kick.

Haha, that free kick was hilarious, he should stick to trying to be a “bagsman” in the 18 yard box cause that was pathetic

I’ll say the same thing I always say when Benny comes up. He was never brought into be manager and only had to do so when Ward threw his toys out of the pram, having asked for help then not liking the help given as he wanted Ray Harford.

The recruitment in the summer prior was poor. Replacing an injured Shaun Taylor with Julian Watts being notable, and we didn’t need to sign all three of Akinbiyi, Thorpe and Andersen. That was under Ward, but common consensus is Scott Davison signed Thorpe even though he wasn’t needed.

Bennys job that he was recruited for was to reshape the club outside the first team. And he did that - that batch of Matt Hill, Aaron Brown etc were a batch that came through with the work Benny did.

And after leaving us far from no success he took over Viking and led them to top three finishes in the league and a cup win - signing Ben Wright from city and knocking Chelsea out of the UEFA cup.

Benny was a damn good football man misused by the club. And bizarrely he was taking us forward with a pathway (remember that) to the first team snd we threw that away for Pulis.

Perhaps we should have gone with ray harford then. Benny had been managing for years in scandinavia, there was no background as a director of football, or any other involvement in english football as far as i know. He had a decent career but matt hill was young and small and like a rabbit in the headlights in those first few games, aaron brown never progressed in the game and that season was a disaster that benny could do nothing to stop.  The only fight we showed under him was against a bloke dressed as a wolf!

as for mabude, the first thing tinnion said when the window ended was that we absolutely definitely are going to be looking for a striker in the summer, what we didnt need was a very young wide player who has barely played a first team game… what they were thinking ive no idea… they are supposed to be working constantly on their targets, so we are told on north korea tv.

    Tbf we were crap!

His ideas about football were ahead of its time and that's why I think we would have done well to have kept him around. Especially considering what then followed!

We spent all the money on forwards then bought carl hutchings to run the midfield as far as i remember!

im not sure benny really had any success anywhere after us, certainly not in a mainstream european league, funny how we all remember things?!
