As I posted a few weeks ago, every club in the Championship has a CEO apart from us, Sheff Wed (in ownership turmoil) and bottom-of-the-table Rotherham.

My question to Steve and Jon would be, "what is it about the internal structure at City which makes it unique in not requiring a CEO?" Because that's the line they've taken. Apparently because we have Tinnion and Jon, we don't need a CEO. The internal structure is strong enough without one. I mean, WTF....

I feel embarrassed enough typing it out, christ knows how embarrassed they must feel.

The lansdowns tried setting us up with ceo’s, but they couldnt get that right either.

The last four of the FA Youth Cup are Millwall, Leeds, Us and Man City. Better (category one) academy sides have gone out - notably Man U to category 3 Swindon - because those academies prioritise development of their players over a bauble. However, in the past players in the U18s of youth cup finalists have been excellent players - Saka, Reece James, Cole Palmer etc

    This says two things:

    - Players in youth cup semis/finals have been good enough to play at a higher level than us if given the chance

    - However, teams will generally put the development of the player above the trophy win

So, you’re likely to be wrong on both counts. And that doesn’t mean people don’t want us to win the FA Youth Cup. But it does mean it’s reasonable to question if it’s really the most important thing for the club.

Maybe winning the youth cup would contribute to the development of the players, and would enhance our ability to bring in top young players in the future. Of all the things to criticise the club for. is this really one of them?!

Innit mate. We shouldn’t have brought Alex Scott through so fast and we could have won that

If someone of that level was in the under 18s now id wager he might have made our first team squad. I assume you dont want us to win the youth cup either.

Tinman as manager was one of those crap decisions Tinman is Director of Football was another.

We all want to be better next season, so they sacked the manager in the most bizarre circumstances out and out lying and Brian was a big part of that.

We all want to win the youth cup too, but it seems completely lost that Pearson was having to play those players because he had no one else and one of the last straws was Brian criticizing Pearson for playing Andy King before one of the youth team.

Mr Lansdown is releasing funds to Mr Manning but didn’t to Nigel Pearson. What does all of that tell you?

It tells me he didnt want pearson around because pearson knew they were full of shit, and lansdown didnt want him spending more money on his own players.

Tinnion then went on to say how great it was that the plan had clearly worked as the u-18s were in the semi finals. As if it's some sort of stroke of genius to screw your first team and development squads up at the expense of the u-18s. 😅

    The hubris is excruciating.

Do you not want the under 18s to win the youth cup? Id quite like to see that personally.

I’m not sure about the term calling out. He said there was no one available at the top of the club and a week or two later he said “if I still have a job”

Fact is he told it like it was and it was obvious he was on his way. Saying it was that, that cost him his job is bizarre. The way he saw it that decision was already made.

Nevertheless a year or so earlier when he said Jon was entitled to his opinion as Chairman but was wrong is what got under juniors skin!

Certainly, all of these were reasons why he wasnt going to be moved upstairs to allow manning to come in underneath him.

After a few hours to review my considered thoughts are

Brian was told/agreed to go on SOTC.

Brian bless him has a lot of attributes, but dealing with marginally tough questions isn’t one of them, particularly as he is implicated in what ever is going on, on a match day

Brian was a part of the process to fire Mr Pearson and recommended Mr Manning

Brian is the fall guy if everything goes bad.

SL noticed the big gaps in the stadium and couldn’t fail but notice the utter shit in front of him and the boos.

Some serious conversations are being had with our coaching staff

Brian is the latest fall guy, theres been 20 odd years of crap decisions and appointments before tinnion got that role, and there will be a lot more shoddy decisions still to come if he loses that role. Hes being blamed for wanting to be better next season, and blamed for wanting the youth team to win the youth cup in this thread! I think it his fault twine got injured, and for scott being sold and lansdown not releasing some of the funds for the striker we all knew we needed too.

    Totally agree

I agree, but pearson calling out the lansdowns in public over his contract made his own position untenable, and he clearly would have known that. and im not sure he would consider a move upstairs at that point to be something he would want to bother with, especially if fleming and euell were to be moved on as well.

No one was clamouring to hear from Tinnion publicly?

    Are you an ostrich?

Tell me where on here people were demanding he went on the radio tonight? Moron

You do realise when a spokesman steps up their words are to be interpreted and analysed? You also must appreciate that aptitude and ability can be interpreted from non-verbal communication and the way you deal with questions and how you demonstrate micro-aggressions or how you deliver your responses. Whether you show confidence and leadership or show agitation and irritation.

No one, no one, would have a man at the top setting the culture for a football club who justifies their position on length of service.

and absolute bollox did he not need to go on! Did you see the attendance on Sunday? Yes he needed to go on. End of on that. He absolutely needed to go on. He needed to go on a few weeks prior.

We didnt even know he was going on until 2 hours before, no one was clamouring for it, no one else has said he needed to go on, and if he didnt go on no one would have said anything either way!

I’d agree about TC but better people than me accept it’s about lack of service. I think to be fare to Pring I don’t think you can say a shadow on last season. There was Interest in him early season and he was great up until his injury.
I agree players have to take some responsibility, but trying to explain why quite a few players are under performing, is difficult and seems to be more than individual player problems.

No one said pring was underperforming after the west ham games, i think the work load has gradually caught up with him, and lads like vyner, dickie and knight too have put a lot into this season.

It seems t me that whatever Brian said in the interview, people have mentally condemned him.  I thought he was open and passionate and gave us some interesting insights.  He is not a politician but is clearly passionate about our club and maybe, after some mature reflection, people will see that he has helped to bring good players into our club and has generated enormous value with his efforts.  I hope he stays because we will find it hard to find a more devoted and enthusiastic football person to be our TD.  Thank you Brian, I appreciate your efforts and achievements.

Its clear that no matter what he said, the knives would be out on here. Any answer he gave to the 10 point question,  he would have had shite thrown at him. Someone said he isnt a legend of the club, but scott murray is, how do you quantify that? Up until last October tinnion would certainly have qualified as a legend. Apart from potentially having to actually give nige the news, the decision to replace, or keep nige was not in his hands.

It seems very likely that bajic will be gone, and after witnessing that lincoln game last year, i dont think the english game really suits him.

He's doing it to paint himself in a good light. I can't see anyone at the club calling him out on it, but agree it's very unprofessional.

    Helps with Dave’s spreadsheets though!

I think Hoskin is doing a really good job. He has to work with the club week in and week out so needs to tread carefully. Asking challenging questions in a pleasantly disguised way. As a result Tins pretty open, if occasionally on the defensive. I think we've learned a fair bit - watching players abroad every weekend and expecting this to result in signings being one example.

Far from a PR disaster in my view. But doesn't challenge many of the assumptions folk on here have. I'll be there next season, but not over excited by the prospect.

Agreed, hoskin couldnt really have pushed it much further, but respected tinnion as a senior representative of the club, and got into the interview with the questions that people have mentioned on here. Well done to him.

You really think Burnley will sell us Twine when they are relegated back to this division? Think again. Either that or they will want many millions, which given what he has contributed so far, you would also have to question.

Agreed, I wouldn’t be busting to spend millions on twine at this point,,, shame, he was obviously the one the manning wanted, and lots of us did too, who knows how we might look now if he had been fit for the last month or 2!

  16. 8 minutes ago, Tony Tootle said:

Yeah he’s not been great the last few has he but overall I think he’s been a fairly decent signing.

I like tgh, and hes young,, perhaps hes better suited to playing further forward with knight in a conventional midfield role, tgh is certainly technical enough to pick a pass.

Tinnion not going sack Manning. Pearson went because of Tinnion. No one with any experience will want to come in and work under Tinnion. JL will not sack Tinnion so we are stuffed. L1 here we come!

Pearson went because lansdown wanted him gone, you don’t seriously believe tinnion could make that decision do you?

  18. 1 minute ago, Natchfever said:

    Inherited.

The academy now has been at a level of organisation and performance that its not been that in probably for ever, to say that it hasn’t improved under the guidance of tinnion, regardless of what you might think of him now, is disingenuous
