Because he's still living off 1 goal in 1994, he has nothing else

Apart from his role at the academy, which has been hugely productive. And hundreds of games for the club.

Nowhere near…financially it was a pretty low cost loan, where Burnley put emphasis on making deals to allow their players to get game-time, rather than sit around not playing (aside from his injury)

Is there likely to be an upfront loan fee for him

A reported 38k a week, til the end of the season? **** that! Let’s see what happens to Ipswich if they don’t go up in the next 2 years! Don’t forget whose in charge of their recruitment!

I wonder how much twine is on compared to that, if its true?

It will be the exact same performance as the ones v qpr , sheff wed and Cardiff unfortunately

I dont think it will, swansea are the perfect opponent for us, like to get it down and play, which suits us as we can deal with that sort of game better, but they dont have the same quality as a Southampton and ipswich. Not saying we will definitely win, but in theory, they are exactly who we would want to be playing. Agree with someone else though, if we lose we are in big trouble.

  5. I like mccrorie for his get up and go attitude, hes an athlete,, but as it stands there isnt a lot of goal threat from any of our wing backs.

as for naismith, he can pick a pass, but I believe he has another year on his contract, we should try to free up that salary for another striker

What are the comparative “challenges” you see that should’ve resulted in equal treatment?

For me, Nige inherited a mess and therefore needed a period of time to reset the club.

Liam took over a club in a “healthy state” - BT:

”best squad in a long time, well contracted, only 3 OOC in the summer”

In fairness he did say “when fit”.  Although we have seen a few more creep in over recent weeks, they’ve been spread across the positions, so he hasn’t had to play players out of position.

Depth has been an issue for both, but we are then back to budgets!

FWIW I don’t think Manning is shit, there are things I like about the way he’s done things.  But just too many areas I’m not convinced by.  I didn’t like everything Nige did either.

I think we can discard anything bt or the lansdowns have to say about the quality of the squad, seeing as they were around to some degree when the crap squad was built in the first place, and are trying to get their propaganda out to justify their own positions!

i have to say that manning was really let down in january, and the marquee signing he wanted came in and has contributed basically nothing. His possession tactics will only work with good players who are good on the ball, and losing twine, not having bird come in straight away, not signing the striker but adding mabude, has been a disaster.

having said that, losing against the physical sides every game while playing the same way is very poor, what he thought would work this time is beyond me, though its not as if this hasnt been a problem for a while,, the squad just isnt up to those sort of challenges.

    Surely one can dream.

I certainly respect the way pearson got us through the financial mess, and the relationship he had with the squad he assembled, but just about everyone acknowledged it would be his replacement that would get the benefit of that work,, and no one can say he handled the owners with a lot of tact,, which is why he got fired. There is zero chance the lansdowns would have him back, and i doubt he would be desperate to come back if they wanted him to!

We shouldn't be spending vast amounts in Jan, regardless of who's manager, players are over priced then and there is no value in the market,

Ipswich signed moore and alhamadi, either of those 2 could have come in and done a job for us?

  9. Its clear that manning signed a top championship number 10 and hasnt been able to play him, and the idiots in charge didnt sign the striker it was obvious we needed in January.. perhaps those 2, certainly twine being injured, has really impacted us and the way he wants us to play.

If (an absolutely enormous “if” that is so large it can be seen from space!) we win tomorrow, I can guarantee it won’t be because we will have been playing “Manningball”!

It will be precisely because on manningball, we have done ok against better passing sides, cause manning knows how to set us up to play against those sides…. Its the likes of cardiff qpr and sheff weds that he hasnt got a clue.

Points vs Ipswich. Are you having a laugh?

Well we aint getting points against anyone else, we are better suited to playing against that sort of team.

Still think we already have enough points as we are but that’s not a defence of the ******* shitshow being served up.

Yeah im not sure now, that table has tightened right up,, sheffield weds were gone a few games ago, and they are close too, more importantly, we are in pathetic form, where as other are picking up points, in 3/4 weeks it could look very different unless we get a win or 2,,, that 6 point gap could be closed up in a couple of weeks.

  13. Just now, Dr Balls said:

Hard to see where the points are going to come from.

We have more chance of points against ipswich and swansea than we do against cardiff and qpr,,, they are much more open in their play and we can compete better against that sort of side

I’m going to be as fair as I can be.

I don’t think - on paper - Manning was a terrible appointment. If you appoint someone with Championship experience then you often end up with someone whose career has peaked and there is a solid argument for gambling on a manager succeeding at a lower level as someone who might have the potential to get promotion.

BUT it is not working, we are going backwards and it is increasingly hard to identify the positives Manning has brought or to believe he has the answers to improve us.

Ultimately - unless he has a very compelling analysis of what has gone wrong so far and how he can fix it (beyond blaming the players for not understanding and implementing his tactical genius) then he has to go and JL and BT need to be honest with themselves about how this appointment went wrong and what needs to happen to get it right next time.

The answer would have been to have recruited the high quality play maker, and high quality big striker in january, or even better in the summer when scott was sold. Twine might have been it but hes ####ed, and mabude might have been it, but hes never played a pro game in his life, when your technical director comes out the day after the transfer window closes and says we are definitely going to buy a big striker in the summer, you know we ballsed it right up when we had the chance to improve it. The other issue is the coach not having a clue how to set the team up for teams who come for a scrap, or have any thought, or intention, to change it when it doesnt work.

  15. Had to turn off the press conference interview, perhaps its my insomnia causing frustration, but i feel hes towing the party line, which he has to do in public, but i dont believe what hes saying any more than he does. in terms of the system and behaviours b.s,he has been hung out to dry. To win a game at some point you have to score, and hes really the best chance we have of scoring goals, the side needs to be set up to create chances for him if we insist on playing 1 striker, and its the game plan that’s messed up, combined with a lack of creativity. Perhaps if twine could have played more it would have been different?
