So as far as I understand this then.
If someone is in a pub, or in a park, or walking in the street, or at a restaurant, or at cricket/rugby/any other sport and has cocaine on them, nothing will happen to them. But if they are at a football match they’ll get a 3-10 year ban.

Personally never touched the stuff, but I know loads who do. If they ban everyone who does coke at a game I think our attendances would drop to about 5k ?

The south west are instituting the following "iniative" https://news.sky.com/story/recreational-drug-users-could-have-passports-and-driving-licences-confiscated-under-new-plans-in-government-crackdown-12653788

Obviously it flies in the face of any evidence based work that reduces the risk of crime and harm to self, but they love a strong message.

You are right though bans of 3-10 years are massively inflated especially when they so freely push alcohol.

Personally I'd have seen it as a chance to engage people around their alcohol and substance use. This is very unlikely to stop people drinking and using before and after the game. Possibly they'll just get more tanked before they get in if they were worried about it - that's usually what happens when clubs are ordered to have dogs.

    We'll see.

    Pointless stat alert:

Scored 9 in 18 games against us and the only club he's scored more against is Blackpool. First goal was in 2006. I remember watching him on Sky back then with my Dad at skittles!

Horrible to play against, but I'd loved to have had him in our team over the years.

Sky clearly scrolling through OTIB for its stats tonight. Lazy.

I've always appreciated how lovely most of you were to me and the podcast on here. (Considering it was a load of shite for a long time)

Suggesting it's not shite now?

(Ordered one hope it's a success)

It was mentioned earlier on this thread that there was some rumour they had been (living?) together again for the past few months.

I suggested in response that was unlikely, given the bail conditions, but is it perhaps true then?

I should be astonished if this were true, and disappointed for (and with) the girl, although stranger things have happened - Ched Evans got back with his original partner....

You don't have any right to be disappointed with her. Firstly it's not really anyone's business and I think others have explained the complexities of abuse like this.

I don't think you are doing this, but this is the sort of stuff that is pointed out by people trying to undermine survivors/victims of abuse including rape. Lawyers especially are all over it.

These cycles can take lots of support and time to be broken especially the longer they have gone on.

Thought I heard earlier that King Charles has requested a low key Coronation. I can't therefore see that a HUGE Police presence being required. As others have said games can be moved to Sunday or Monday.

No doubt Mick Lynch and his boys / girls will be on strike just to pee every one off (if the train companies haven't gone bust by then).

They aren't on strike just to piss people off.

Let’s look at the stats, if it’s not promotions for Bristol City which is the most entertaining aspect, then I guess the next best would be goals scored?

Wilson - highest goals scored in a season, 78 which we didn’t get promotion with.

Cotts - 96, which we won the league with. So more goals, and a promotion. What could be more entertaining?

Or if GJ is a conference manager, as he’s now managing Torquay, then you’ve got Wilson whose been unemployed after 7 years since being sacked by League One Chesterfield, you’ve got Cotts who is still employed in League One with Shrewsbury, LJ who is employed in SPL. Again you’d probably say LJ or Cotts is the best manager right now based on current clubs, absolutely not Wilson.

Essentially all very weird. I bet Robbo couldn’t give any facts why he thinks Wilson is better, purely rose tinted glasses and spite

I know Robbored likes to trot out that Gary Johnson must be a conference managed as that is where he is now. Like some sort of "gotcha" because of a stupid thread he made 15 odd years ago that backfired as we earned promotion and then got us to a play off final in the Championship.

Most managers do drop off after they reach their peak. Some keep going around various clubs due to their name (Bruce), or because they have a particular skill (Warnock). Lots stop managing and fade into the background, or they do what Johnson has eventually done and drop back down to lower levels.

I think the only reason Johnson is a conference manager now is because he loves managing, and Torquay are a great club in a nice area of the UK so why wouldn't he want to carry on? He could have dropped off as so many managers do when their offers dry up at league level and especially when he became unwell.

People can have their views and some good points have been made about what went wrong for Johnson here in the end. I think most of us just find it quite sad that a man in his 70's still hasn't let go of being embarrassed all that time ago and has to double down on his views at every chance he gets. I don't really like the phrase living rent free in someone's head, but if it was ever created for someone it would be GJ in Robboreds head. Personally think he's best ignored as he was 15 years ago.

Can't believe it ever will, it hasn't yet.

He's just a lower league version of Delli Ali

Dele Ali has had a good first half to his career and reach heights that Palmer could only dream of so far.

Was a strange signing for Coventry really. I could see why we signed him at the time, but not for the money that was paid and given to him.

  9. Thought his short interview was good on Wednesday. Acknowledged that it's been tough and he's had to get his head down and owes fans performances. Thought he came across well and ultimately he can't control the stupid money that has been thrown around at this level.

Hope he can continue this form.

I was the opposite, I was shouting “do him” (as in take on Tom Lees).  Lees through he was going on his left foot, where he has scored some good goals from…but advantage-Semenyo, he has a thunder-bastard capability in both feet.  He stroked that in with his right foot, wasn’t a blast, but was just too quick for Nicholls.

    Absolute diamond.

First time I've seen him live as I've been away for some time, but I won't make the mistake of thinking he should pass again.

  11. Mixed performance, but enjoyable night tonight.

Internally I was screaming at Semenyo to pass it across the box and then he pulled that out. Glad we scored when we did as it was starting to look shaky .

Agree with the person who commented about us having to play a higher line as we can't deal with the press when we sink back - at least that's my observation having seen us against Sunderland too. Against clinical teams we may come unstuck.

Thought Wells played really well up top too.

Interesting piece on Watford's 100 years at Vicarage Road last night. The first team to introduce a family stand which is now named after Ann Swanson the supporter who set it up. Made we wonder if there are any other grounds that have a stand named after a supporter rather than a player, chairman, director, owner etc.

That was a really nice piece I thought definitely worth watching.

Can't stand Barton but he's done a good job at the Blue few, so unsurprising he's been linked

I'm not sure on this either. Ultimately they would have been aiming for promotion in that division and it was a great turn around for them, but that hid an otherwise unconvincing season.

If he wasn't well known, and used to play in the lower divisions, I suspect most would be pretty underwhelmed if he was appointed at championship level.

Not surprised he's been sacked as Stoke fans I knew had enough last year. Not sure on doing it with the window just closing though.
