Ian Gay says we should wait til Xmas and then only give him a 12 month rolling contract.

For me that would be an insult to Pearson and the work he has done.

How is a 12 moth rolling contract an insult.?

It's the most sensible type of contract & basically runs indefinitely - it just means that at any point, there is a year left on the contract.

And it’s these sort of prices why the modern sofa glory hunter fan exist. Disgusting prices. Where’s the next generation of proper fans coming from

No. Sky TV is totally to blame for the glory hunter arm chair fan.

Occasional fans are perfectly used to paying that sort of price, or more, for concerts & shows. They wouldn't be put off by the price - they are more likely to be put off by having to get off their arse & actually bother going to the ground, when there are so many games available at the touch of a button.

If it sells out that doesn’t make it right, I understand your logic but the prices are shitting on the average punter

It would be interesting to see how it compares to other clubs in the Prem.

I'd expect Fulham to be one of the priciest, due to location & capacity being smaller than many.

I'd think that most fans have season tickets in the Prem, otherwise it would be a struggle to get tickets - so capitalising on the occasional fan/day tripper is understandable.

What is the "average punter" nowadays.?

If  games sell out at those prices, then you can blame the clubs for making as much revenue as possible.

Of course, some will sadly be priced out - but it's naive to think the club will worry about that, if they are selling the same seat to someone who can afford it.

The danger being, losing their hard-core base support (those who are priced out) should they drop back down the leagues & don't have the glory boy element splashing out on tickets regularly.

How’d they feel in 98/99? If you’d been there as a fan in those times, wouldn’t you enjoy these times.

They had been there in those times & yes, initially of course they did, & still do - but going to pretty much every game, with anything less than a resounding win by several goals, being seen as a disappointment - must be rather weird & must all start to feel a bit boring after a while.

Of course, they are immensely entertained on a weekly basis - but that lack of competitive edge to matches, after a long period, must feel like something is missing from the competitive nature of the sport we love.

It must almost be like going to the theatre every week, rather than going to watch a competitive sporting fixture.

Of course we'd all love it - but after a decade of dominance it must all become a bit samey - with only the fear of dropping off the top (Man Utd) as a motivation & let's be honest, Man City have the wealth & infrastructure to make that unlikely anytime soon - although we all know that, however good or dominant a club is, in never lasts forever.

  5. What about being a Man City fan...?

Anything but winning the title is a shock & failure.

Only winning 2-0 today must have seemed dull & drab.

Expecting to win, no matter who you are playing - you can only be left disappointed - bar the times it's an exceptional win, or a moment of world class quality goal - that stands out above all the other goals...

Where actually is the fun in going only expecting to win & being diassapointed by anything other than a goal feast..?

Where do you go from winning everything - is only the quadruple trophy hall their incentive now.?

Disappointment & failure at failing to retain the champions league year after year - or just getting used to that to a point it's expected or seen as a season of failure..?!

I was chatting to an old school Man City fan on Holiday - he has his season tickets - but only bothers going to about half the games because it feels like a bit of a foregone conclusion...

Can it really be fun, really..?!

Been to old Trafford quite a few times as company I work for get quite a few corporate tickets ( freebies with food & drink ?) obviously it costs me a few quid travel up  in car or train / hotel sometimes and a few quid to have a few beers early on  in local pubs or central Manchester before I go into corporate , to mix with real fans and get a feel of the atmosphere and once corporate is finished usually about 7 again go into local pubs or central Manchester ( usually shit faced then start giving it the big un about city ? ( Bristol city )

perhaps because of the numbers and people travelling the amount of people around in pubs either local or central Manchester is unreal at 10-1100 o clock , not so much after still loads about though . Generally when I do go up the atmosphere in the pubs before and after is really good as for in the ground so so .

and no I’ve never gone there above watching city , only paid once to go in that was a night game against Middlesbrough in the cup as I was working up there ,

but as for the original question just one team for me , you reds - weirdly though I do have a soft spot for Fulham just really like the boozers in that part of London and love the ground ( bucket list Fulham game this year to see what grounds like with new stand )

Condensed version - Likes to get passed up & go to Canal Street ?

Why didn’t the police help the stewards kick the two “gentleman” out who were asked to leave by the stewards?

Police are instructed not to get involved inside the stadium & are there as back up for the stewards.

Police involvement is a last resort, when instructed.

It’s all about how well your team are playing ( usually ) West Brom been poor hence no noise , if they go in front = more noise ,

same applies to city , we have so much shite over the past 3-4 years at home the atmosphere has been generally poor

    not rocket science

Exactly - nothing to do with what fans are in what stands.

I saw that. I wonder what the equivalent  of our PFA think about it.

One things for sure, I wouldn't want to be a defender with a decision to make any time soon.
Only joined a short time before, seems odd.

I think this is the game .

I love how they make it seem like a massive incident, in a huge game....

Not big enough for anyone to actually attend.!

    Nope not yet.

Given they have got this far with the cconstruction - I am really hoping they are told to adjust the dimensions of the structure by a few metres (maybe lower and not so deep?)
We may mock about "meccano", but this does not look like meccano if the need to modify it arose.

That would be amusing - but not as amusing as if their application just got thrown out & rejected, in light of their utter disregard for planning rules.....

The contempt shown towards the rules that everyone else has to adhere to, is surely reason enough to reject any application and should also come with a 10 year ban on submitting any future plans for approval....

    Sounds only fair to me..!

  11. I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous..!

All that effort just to try & be noticed ahead of the transformation going on at the Mem.!

I bet these needy, attention craving tossers even applied for planning permission before they started all this nonsense.!

Imagine being so worried about loosing your place at Europe's top table to The Rovers, that you have to make such a song & dance about a few little tweaks here & there to your ground - pathetic..!

On their Forum, they have a competition every home match to guess the crowd and the number of visiting supporters. Points are awarded for the nearest guesses in each category (I kid you not) and some saddo keeps a league table of the results. Here’s the table after Saturday (note the number of ‘gas’ or ‘blue’ in the usernames) …

    IMG_5148.png

Surely to win that competition you just need to be the lowest guess around the 20k mark..?

Surely they all predict that their crowd will be around that - or is that just for the away following guessing game..?

Sweetheart, you've heard it said that the opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference?

You and your fellow contributors are quite clearly not indifferent to us. Your protestations notwithstanding, you are still deeply interested and even invested in us and our fate and fortune.

Now, it is Friday evening. Let's leave it here for the weekend.

It's you that make yourselves fairly irrelevant to us over the past 25 years.

Don't worry- we still dispise everything about your club - but your abject failure, coupled with constant, repeated effort to make yourselves a laughing stock - mean there isn't much else we can do than look down on you & laugh at you (regularly)

A large chunk of our fan base have never seen a league game between the 2 Bristol clubs & for that, the blame lies entirely at your door.

When you finally get your act together enough to scale the heady heights of the 2nd tier again - or, God forbid, we come down to your level - whichever happens first - the hatred of your club will come flooding back as we'll have to listen to your cringeful dirge of Irene, see the vomit inducing mess of a kit you play in & be fully reminded just what bitter, nasty little scumbags your fans & everything associated with your club are.

For the past 25 odd years we've kind of forgotten about just how vile you actually are - but it won't take long to remember - when you actually get the right to take to the same playing field as us again.

Do hurry up though..... we've been more than patient and it's actually getting quite boring..!

I’m not making any comparison at all !

Clearly the men’s game is totally different to the women’s.

My point stands though, it will increase the pressure on Southgate if the Lionesses win on Sunday.

Why would that increase any pressure on Southgate any more that England winning the Rugby World Cup, Some English bloke winning Wimbledon or me landing a job as head of recruitment at the Playboy mansion....?!

All totally unrelated to the men's English football team.
