Maybe just maybe 2 or 3 at most off their own back but certainly no coercion from higher up as far as i'm concerned

When I first posted about the new accounts it was on the Saturday night before NP was sacked on the Sunday. There were 5 or 6 new accounts that joined and all were anti NP. Mods said later on that thread that they were indeed BS employees and they had signed up with there BS email addresses.

Seems like this is done with an announcement tomorrow morning likely.

I'm surprised so many are dismissing Manning. I think given the position we are in and what we are specifically looking for he's a very good fit. He's been coaching since he was 21 and has a decent amount of L1 experience.

Mousinho wasn't going to leave Pompey so Manning made next most sense.

People bemoaning lack of experience should take a look at who Millwall have just appointed. Gotta start somewhere...

It's City, and the structure behind him still gives me a lot of concern, but Manning is a good appointment I reckon and about as good as we could've hoped for.

I have said on a couple of threads that I have concerns about the structure above him. But I have no doubts about LM's coaching.

Looks like the type of appointment we have been crying out for. Young manager plucked from the league below like many of our players. Has worked hard to move up through academy coaching to coaching abroad and lower league with pretty good success at all 3 clubs. What LJ was supposed to be but come here for the wrong reasons.

Whilst I agree on the coaching side, it could well be a good appointment. And I think it will be. My fear is the structure above him and is it strong and experienced enough to handle the non coaching side of things. Time will tell.

  4. Can't see anything being announced tomorrow. Just heard back from a mate who is a trader with one of the big betting firms. His words were "the leeches haven't come forward yet".

By leeches he means agents and a like who always top up their earnings with a little wager (although you can't get much on in these markets). But all agents / regular winners on these type of markets accounts are flagged up when they bet.

His company haven't seen any bets from these accounts yet so wouldn't think anything is done yet.

Indeed. Manning has the the same agency as Rene Gilmartin.

Quite easy for one of their reps to drop in at City to see Gilmartin, everything would appear above board, and also have preliminary conversations about Manning with the necessary people.

Gilmartin is not at City now.

South Africa with another 350 plus score.

    They are so powerful!

Already set a record for most 6s in a World Cup .

Not bad for a team who just over a year ago were struggling to qualify for the tournament if I remember correctly.

Woke up this morning thinking about the NP news then I was told about a good friend and work associate for 25 years that had gone missing in the sea at Burnham, missing presumed dead...sort of puts things in perspective really.

Same here, he used to live next door to me, it really does put things into perspective.

    Like Luke Williams maybe.

Youngish, very good reputation in the game and broke all sorts of records at Nott County.

Not my choice (I don't really have one atm) but I think he fits the bill for the Lansdowns.

Not my choice either but knows the club having been under 23s manager, was going to be part of the succession planning back in the day. Don't know what went wrong, prob a threat to LJ?

    Can see this happening.

Just wanted to share some thoughts.

This will undoubtedly be a time when old manager going / new manager coming in will see comments from posters, me included, giving our opinions and there will be debate for and against on both sides.

But…I see this as a small window of opportunity.

    +++++

We have had numerous debates over our time back in the Championship from the managers - Cotts to Johnson to Holden to Pearson, to the Finances, FFP, Covid, etc.  We can all defend our opinions with facts, speculation, and just the way we see it.

However it is clear to me (at least) that we enter a period where we:

    • don’t really have any manager “baggage”, no divide from posters who were fanboys of one but not the other.  It feels like a “decks cleared” time.
    • no financial issues, FFP at least!  We don’t know the owners funding aspirations / restrictions though.

So we can treat the new manager on merit, although slightly hindered initially by:

    • a small squad
    • injuries

We will have to wait until January to see if he is allowed to recruit.  At that point we will know whether the budget was just for the old manager or not.  But we can judge new manager accordingly, ie is he hamstrung by budget or not.

Re injuries, a slight tangent, most managers come in and first thing they say is they had to get the players fit.  Well, City are one of the hardest running teams in the division, so that excuse is not valid.  Availability is different.

Ultimately the foundations have been laid.  The new manager has the opportunity to build on them.

I suggest we wait and see who we get and judge them on what they do with Bristol City.

A lot of sense there Dave, but I am pretty sure it won't be a manager it will be a head coach...

Dave, that bit about the fall out being caused by a row over bringing in free agents, such players would be experienced such that he wouldn't have to "expose the youngsters". What would Nige's objection be? Unless he wanted the free agents and the ****s wouldn't cough up the cash.

Most free agents would not be fit enough, the Jan transfer window would be here before they would be ready to play championship football imo

People say it’s not an inspiring list, but I’d actually accept any of Rowett, Eustace, Beale, Warnock or even Ainsworth.

    Not Jones, though. Forget him.

But the others have something intriguing about them that could fit at this club. Cotterill was not an inspiring signing, but he clicked with City. I could see any of the five I mentioned doing the same. It’s about providing an environment in which they can succeed and things clicking.

I would be against Jones, as I can’t see him ever winning the fans over given his attitude and arrogance. Pulis 2.0

Nigel Pearson, however, is a cut above all of them and a different class of manager. Sometimes, though, the fit and connection between manager, ownership, players and the fans is more important. Cotts and early GJ are the only ones I’ve seen truly achieve this, and they’re, with respect, not necessarily the best managers the world has ever seen.

Don't think it will be any of those you mentioned.
