  1. There is a certain amount of credit that is due to SL for the infrastructure but correct me if I'm wrong - the money spent on those things is all debt, it wasn't a gift. My challenge is that he has been at the club 25 years - I would expect that most clubs need to do some updates to there infrastructure every 25 years.

Weren't these just things that needed doing? Weren't they things that probably should have been done earlier in his tenure?

So what has he actually done other than what he should have done (bare minimum) funded with a line of cheap credit?

Basically & this has only just occurred to me, JL is a combination of Kendall Roy and Roman Roy from Succession (& if anyone hasn’t seen it, boy are you missing out), as Logan once said “you’re not serious people”.

Mark Ashton was clearly Bob Mortimer’s Train Guy, now it all makes sense.

I’m off for a lie down.

Just on season 3, so what has SL done that means he had to take a step back? ?

Nostalgic for sure. I liked Freeman.

I do recall that Freeman was booed throughout his last performance at Ashton Gate. Never understand why fans do this to players who served us well and in this case was quintessential to a fantastic promotion season.

I didn't boo but I assume it was to do with not wanting to be here - he ran down his contract didn't he?

Personally I think that fair enough, fulfill your contract and you can do whatever you want. It's not like he did what Fam did and just and just couldn't be bothered for the last 6 months of his contract.

I would think he would be looking at a London club. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned up at QPR again as he had a very successful time there. I think he's put on a bit of timber though.

Struggled with weight a bit when we got promoted if I remember rightly. Quality player in his day but I assume isn't as fast as he used to be and a declining talent on the way down.

When asked at a Senior Reds lunch recently why we didn't have a Flint like player for height when defending and attacking crosses, Tinnion  said we were looking instead to play fast, high press, front foot attacking play with players able to run for the full 90+ minutes. What the f#@k happened to that plan.

I have heard JL state this as our type of play in the past but probably 3 years ago, I can't remember many games in the last 3 years where I have thought we look faster than the opposition, we do press high, front foot attacking play - once again I'm back to I can't remember many games where we have been on the front foot and attacking.

Is it just something people say without knowing what they mean.

That's what I'd honestly like to know? He gets a lot of ribbing from people on here, but is it actually JL coming up with the rebranding, or have they outsourced (or insourced it) to someone else?

I know these decisions ultimately comes from the top, but we're not hearing a dickie bird from them. Are they being misled by so-called "branding experts" who don't really get the passion and history of football clubs and the association that fans have with specific colours and badges?

Best case scenario for him is that he has to stand infront of it because that's his job.

Worst case is that he actually gets pens out and is the designer.

Exactly right. Don't get me wrong I like Louis and he served City well. I just don't think he should be counted as our record appearance holder. But I also don't like the fact that a player comes on for England in stoppage time and it counts as an international cap. I don't know if they still get a physical cap anymore but if so there ought to be a minimum number of minutes to play to receive one.

But back to Louis and he does, aooear to be gaining a good reputation as a coach so good luck to him at FGR.

It means what its means - that you have played for your country. I quite like the cap but I agree the requirement should be to have to start a game at a major tournament.

If you play for your country there should be something like you get the shirt you played in.

Might just be me, but I read that as a ‘backwards step’ in terms he already knows everyone, the area, the club, etc etc so it’s not a challenge or getting him out of his comfort zone so to speak. ‘Backwards step in my life’ in the same way that some people see moving back to where they grew up as a negative, Not a backwards step because Millwall are bigger than us.

It's all well and good giving him the benefit of doubt but we all know he would walk bare foot over broken glass to come back here if we got to the prem so all this I've been there done it stuff is nonsense IMHO, that being said he probably see's Millwall as a backwards step as well but just not as far backwards as us. Bottom line, he probably see's Millwall as a more likely club to get promoted.

Of course the player will have a big say and I'd imagine it to be a very fluid situation.

As Alex is quite mature, he would absolutely understand why we'd accept a higher offer from a smaller club. Our CEO has often spoken about how we have to make every pound count so if Bournemouth offered more than Spurs then we're understandably going to accept that.

The only way Bournemouth get him over West Ham and Spurs ie because of game time and more money for us. Otherwise they can't compete with those two.

But then Scott rejects the contract offer from Bournemouth knowing that Tottenham were in for him and says he wants to sign for Tottenham (knowing they will be able to pay him more), we are then in the position that Bournemouth back out and only Tottenham are left so they decide to lower there offer by £5m.

In terms of my personal convenience, i would prefer the digital option, i am quite techy as I use my phone for work constantly and use the digital wallet for shopping etc. Just think it might prove inconvenient as the club are persistent on checking tickets there and everyone who goes in there is going to have to get their phone out and get their ticket up.

I assume we will have to but I don't see this as more difficult than having to show the card that we usually have to do, are you thinking there might be additional complexity?

  11. Not sure if I was a member on here when we changed from paper books to cards, I wonder if elderly people wanted to carry on using the book because they couldn't be bothered with a card?

I'm glad the club have done this, it's a proven technology and makes things easier. It's the last thing I had in my wallet that hadn't already been replaced so I now don't need to carry a wallet.

I was unsure on this one so I checked.

LAWS OF THE GAME & FA RULES

    LAW 12: FOULS AND MISCONDUCT

IFAB Laws of the Game 2023-24

    2. Indirect free kicks

    • controls the ball with the hand/arm for more than six seconds before releasing it

I've got myself all kinds of confused.

Danbury red said and you made in bold - "how long it takes the keeper to kick the ball out."

You seem to be quoting a rule about indirect free kicks, is the keeper kicking from hands considered indirect free kick?

  13. 12 hours ago, redysteadygo said:

There is a time limit 6 seconds or indirect free kick should be given if longer. It's laughable what refs allow. I don't understand why the crowd don't start chanting the time in seconds to remind the ref and the fourth official can then report the ref for not invoking the rules when it's not adhered to. Fat chance of that happening.

Nope, this was changed to the refs discretion. The crowd chanting before the rule was changed was cringe enough, after the rule changed (which I heard a few times last season) adds ignorance.

Gazza offers the corrective to "what if your boyhood dream came true and not only did you play for England but you were England's best player for half a dozen years"?

Similar to Kurt Cobain - if you're unhappy then becoming the world's biggest rock star won''t change that.

He has always been a very troubled man, success and wealth won't change that.

If anything wealth is just an amplifier. If you're troubled and poor then that places some limitations on how much damage you can do to yourself, if you troubled and wealthy then there's no limit!
