    Is it just horrendous luck?

Is it the pitches? Is it the training?

Does the high fitness, high intensity pressing system/game we play contribute? And does that style lend itself to such a small squad?

And finally, how on earth did teams in the 60s/70s, on those pitches, with their diets etc go through entire seasons using only 14 or 15 players?

Because they were good footballers today you have to be a good footballer and an athlete. I would imagine that most 3rd tier sides would run rings around any team from the 60s/70s playing by modern rules.

There may have been slight profits in terms of transfer fees in and transfer fees out, but what about the salary costs?  They were both here for a year, so if they were only on £5k per week, thats another £500k to factor in. Another way to look at it is wasted opportunities. As @MyBrotherErnie said, they were brought in by LJ but he didn’t really know how to use them.

The recruitment at the time was opaque and I'm not sure how much of the problem was LJ, Ashton was the recruitment team (taking a similar philosophy to Ipswich in buying up anyone he can). LJ was certainly involved, he said he had the final say but what were the options? It was most likely bluster because we all know SL gets the final say.

At they’re current rate of trajectory ( stretching their lead over 3rd by 1.2 points per game on avg) they’ll be officially promoted by the beginning of March 😳😳

I assume that goes for Ipswich as well as they might (hopefully not) have the same points after tonight.

Most teams in this league have had trampoline payments at some point but Ipswich haven't in the last 20 years.

I find it all absolutely baffling, bordering on the bizarre.

OK I’m just drawing an inference from what Nige has said, but it appears a COO who has been in post for what, 4-6 weeks, couldn’t find the time in that period to have a meaningful chat to the second most important person - after Steve - in his organisation?  Particularly odd given Nige’s recent health issues, contractural situation, the top level staffing upheavals and changing messages from the owner on availability of finance et al.  Then add to that, the Media Department doesn’t have a prepared press release available after the Nige ‘incident’.

If that is all correct, I can only draw one of three conclusions; that our COO/Head of Media are either 1) Incompetent 2) Unclear on their responsibilities or 3) Directed by Steve/legal advisor to ‘blank’ all things Nige.

I somehow doubt it would be 1 or 2 as I know we’re bad at lots of things off the field, but we can’t be that bad. So it must be 3 for me.

Little wonder that Nige became exasperated and wouldn’t be surprised if he’s totally disillusioned. It’s truly remarkable for me that he’s keeping himself together and providing clear, sound and positive leadership in such circumstance.

I would say it's probably 2. The COO probably hadn't had there roles and responsibilities updated following the CEO leaving and just carried on with what they were doing.

They don't join in because we know the tune but not the words.  If you want 2000 singing sing simple songs that everybody know

I find a lot of the songs rather simple but that might because I try to sing them. The Harry Cornick song you referred to changes 3 words in one line and most of the next line, if that's complicated then we probably just need to stick to "come on you reds" when we get a corner 5 times a game.

Woke up this morning feelin' Fine There's something special/got Harry Cornick on my mind

Last night I met a new girl in the neighborhood/city's number 9 and he looks so fine, whoa yeah
Something tells me I'm into something good.

I know people that "support" man u that have only been to old Trafford once or twice but they seem to know all the songs.

Plenty of people sing and know the words when they want which seems to coincides with when we are doing well which I can only attribute to them feeling good. If they don't want to get behind the team and sing when things aren't going well then that is there choice but it does lead to a sterile atmosphere and something other teams have that we don't in picking the team up.

I was amazed that Coventry fans made the game feel like home game with virtually no response from either the South Stand or the end of the Dolman. Granted the game started badly but surely that's when the team need support the most. It felt flat from pre-match until approx 75 minutes.

I think it would be great if we dropped the clever little tunes like the song for Cornick and got some simple old fashioned songs going that more can join in with.

As it is AG is far from an intimidating place to play and feels more like radio 2 on a Wednesday afternoon.

Cornick didn't come on until the 66th minute - I would say the atmosphere was better after he came on.

What are these old fashioned songs that more can join in? The Cornick song is to the tune of "I'm into something good" - it came out in 1964, how old are you looking for? I agree the problem is not enough people are joining in. We have about 50 people singing regularly and we need like 2k.

If nobody is expecting it to achieve anything, then why do it?

Not everything has to achieve something does it?

What does any minutes silence achieve? Nothing really, what does it allow? My answer would be that in modern busy society it allows a moments reflection of something (usually tragic) that has happened - I think we can all agree what has happened this week is tragic due to the scale?

  8. I don't want people sacked for the sake of it but I voted to sack and now think he should have a 2 year extension.

I voted to sack because we were not competitive in the league against the vast majority of sides and I had my target at the half way point as having to be above 18th - we weren't so I stuck to my original target and decided that he should be sacked. I'm happy that we didn't sack him.

This season my target is above 16th by the half way point. We do look competitive. I have no reason to want him to be sacked.

I don't let an individual result dictate if he should stay or not I judge it over 1/2 a season.

I'd have said 3 years from next summer but a resounding yes to the poll.

I don't think 3 is quite right, eventually people will get bored/frustrated and just want change for the sake of it, some are going to start asking what is he achieving over 4/5 years no matter what happens. I think 2 makes sense, if something goes wrong in season 1 then it's not too expensive to get rid.

But it has been going on for years and people dying on both sides but I’ve never known a minute silence for it before,Agree tho that if you can’t keep your trap shut for a minute then your a wrong un but as said above let’s keep politics out of football

I assume it started as a minutes silence for the Israeli's that were killed and then as the week has unfolded they have realised that would make it look like ignoring the suffering of Palestinians so they have changed it to both sides. Then like you say it becomes an announcement that could have been made anytime in the last 2500 years.

    Yep, I know.

However watching a stream on a VPN is not as good as watching without one.

I haven't had a problem with my VPN ever, had problems with me selecting the wrong country, had loads of problems with RobinsTV.

When RobinsTV works it's never worse with or without a VPN. I know because I have watched RobinsTV in other countries without using a VPN.

Like a few of us were saying in the stoke thread the quality of the championship officials seems to be woeful, if the ref didn't see that the linesman should have.

They have been beating us up for the best part of the first half.   And only 1 yellow and a couple of fouls given.

It was a real downturn following the introduction of VAR in the prem.

I assume they are doing something differently in there training to adjust for VAR but obviously we don't have VAR!

Didn't think of using VPN

Wouldn't have helped with the skin issue. When I tested I loaded a private window so wouldn't have accessed my cookies so would have given the red skin which didn't work - which makes sense now knowing the issue.
