He put a cross on a plate for Cornick to miss from a yard for a start so denied "output" by his team mate..........first 30 seconds of the game he took an awkward ball inside the defender, decent save from the keeper. Played a pass in the move that saw Conway thwarted by another good save.

Thanks. I think all your examples are from the first half - I sit the other end so may have missed them, for example didn't realise it was him that put the ball in for Cornick.

    Excellent today.

I thought he was our worst player ?. What I saw from him was a player standing off the ball and standing out of challenges when he could have at least made a defender work for it.

Lots of good runs but very little output for all that running.

I will have to watch the highlights and see what I missed.

We really need to get better at this.  It would make a big difference if we did..

It's one of those things in football like corners that I think is high expectation low real return. I suspect it's more about the whole situation rather than being good at crossing - what I mean is getting the ball quickly into the box when on the break is far more likely to return a goal rather than trying to play a perfect cross from about 6 yards out after having spent a minute working that crossing opportunity and everyone has taken there place in the middle.

  4. I (and I assume Nige) don't want players here that want to sign for NP I want players that want to sign for Bristol city. Other than that I think the outcome is right a 2 year contract from this summer with a year option for us seems about right.

It really depends on NP as well, his health seems to be a lot better than when he came in - he may not want to manage, he may want to manage at a higher level with Leicester coming in for him at the end of this season. Who knows what he wants.

Blackburn less so, but the other three I agree.  Would be a big indicator that we blew it.  Just takes steady building, good recruitment…and a bit of luck too, but essentially the culmination of a plan.

Luton I’m happier that it won’t be Nathan Jones taking them up.

If any of them do get promoted and someone says on here we need to change our style of play to or what we are doing to be like them I'm going to need a break of at least a month.

“Excel” is a ridiculous over statement. He commands his box in that he comes out and flaps. No way is he a long term number 1 for a championship side seeking promotion.

I think we're at least 6 players away or some coaching improvements to a number of players from that. That is going to take at least 3 windows with money to produce.

I think he fits us for where we are at the moment (championship mid table side) but I don't think he is better than Bentley.

Ben Godfrey played 30 games for Norwich in the prem prior to signing for Everton. The other 2 are good examples.

I'm not sure now what giving you all these examples has led to. Do you still think AS won't get bids of £25m+?

That was having played 40 games in the prem previously, so while you are correct, he was already a prem league number one.

Ok, to play by your rules Ollie Watkins went from Brentford as a championship team having never played prem football to villa in the prem for £34m in 20/21.

That was at the age of 24, AS is 19 so can provide more value over the long term.

There are so many different scenarios it will be interesting to see what happens, as I mentioned earlier I’m not convinced a prem side will spend £25 mil on him.

    - prem side pays less, maybe £15mil but we include add ons that hit 25mil+
    - Scott starts to force move so we end up accepting offer lower than what we want

    - We play hard ball and refuse to lower asking price due to contract length

    - Lots of rumour all summer and he leaves towards the end of the window for an acceptable fee

    - No clubs prepared to come close to meeting asking price

    - Massive bidding war and ends up leaving for over asking price + add ons (wouldn’t that be nice!!!)

either way I’m excited to see what happens, I trust Nigel and CEO to make the right decision for the football club.

I think there is just too much interest and long enough on our contract with him that we can name our price within reason, prem clubs haven't been affected by the COVID conditions anywhere as much as the championship or lower, there is essentially already a bidding war going on through the press.

I think there will be an early mover and he is going to go and it will be for more than £25m is my prediction but I know nothing other than the public domain information.

I'm missing the point of the OP. I've looked at the yellow circles but don't get the point. Can someone explain?

    As a non league club a few years back with no big money backing and ( probably) the worst ground in the Championship  - the fact that they are 3rd in the Championship and guaranteed a play off spot.... I'm not sure who is "bitter or better". ( "Bitter" being in the OP}

Shit club doing a lot  better than us and we take two of their players this season, one who made them eat their spleen- Naismith.

As as general comment- the last time we were about 3rd in the table at this point in the season was when Gary J was in charge.

    I don't get the post.

It either shows how badly we have been run or how well they have been run, probably a bit of both.

If it was a one off mistake it wouldn't be an issue, it would get laughed off (Pete Borough anyone?!) but there is a mistake very single game, some very noticeable, very obvious and I think people are just fed up.
Give me an announcer who announces subs and goals correctly in a simple manner over someone trying to whip the crowd up any day. This simply isn't required at a football match. Nobody comes home and goes 'you know what? That match day announcer really got me hyped up before the game'

Trying is the correct word, not succeeding.

    Gammon flavour, assumedly.

Hi Silvio, not sure if you are aware but there is a certain amount of controversy around the term gammon being racist due to its reference to skin color. Not calling you racist as I prefer to give benefit of doubt but not sure people would appreciate it if you referred to any other skin shade as a cut of meat.

I mean it's not a terrible song. I associate it more with Chelsea, West Brom and Wolves tbh. On Boxing Day we played it pre West Brom game which probably gave them an unexpected boost!

Overall I do prefer something a bit more City themed.

It gets people singing. I agree we shouldn’t play it if we are playing Chelsea, Wycombe, Northampton, wolves or West Brom who all claim some kind of weird ownership of it.

the police requested it was stopped at wolves and West Brom as it apparently promoted hooliganism - not sure what the link is there, that makes no sense to me.

Always thought he's okay for rugby but football I dunno...didn't he mess up one or two of the substitutions the other week??

On a side note and I'm not criticising him with regards this aspect but why did we play The Liquidator again pre game??

I know you say not criticism of him but the liquidator has been played pre game on and off for at least 30 years. Although closely associated with a few clubs it is just a generic football song.

  15. I think we would need too much to change between now and then, the quality across the squad would need to be better and deeper to pick a year. We're more likely to go up through a fluke season like when Blackpool did it but that would require winning the playoffs and that would be a big change in itself for us.

You'd expect that there would be a buyer for a club/brand of Everton's size. If Derby, Oldham, and other basket case clubs can find buyers then I'm sure Everton could as well. So I'd expect them to ultimately avoid liquidation.

Fivethirtyeight currently give them a 40% chance of being relegated.

Not sure how they have come to that 40%, any idea?

They aren't currently in the relegation zone, one win could move them up to 12th, everyone from 12th down seems to be involved in the relegation battle, so my basic math is that is a 33.3% if all teams were equal (which they are not) so should be less than that.

  17. 4 hours ago, Rocking Red Cyril said:

Surely if they are charging 3 % over base rate that's making a profit. So that's greed. Saving the football club is just a front for profit.

When you consider the opportunity cost for them (the time and effort they are putting in v what they could have made elsewhere with the same initial investment) I would suspect they could have made more money elsewhere.

I would like to understand your definition of "greed" a bit more, profit isn't greed, excessive profit maybe greed but it also depends how they use it.

  18. I would prefer we didn't go down the route of just trying players in matches because fans think that a player that hasn't played might be better than a player that generally has had a good season.

Hopefully Nige judges who's in the side based on seeing what they can do everyday.
