  1. Unless we are doing well which we haven’t been for the past 3 or so season. We all know that when we are top half / pushing for play-offs in this league we always take big numbers away. It is what it is really. Can’t knock our home support though. I think relative to recent and past success to still be averaging over 20k at home is fantastic support in all honesty.
  2. You weren’t the only one - remember these banners anyone? ????
  3. Doesn’t feel like too long ago that Scunthorpe came up with us from League one in 2007 - madness.
  4. Indeed. But what did SL and our board do, sanctioned him and MA to spend to the levels that have never been seen at BCFC before in the summer of 19. As i said previously getting in somebody like Hughton or Pearson around 2018/19 with the available funds we had to spend would have almost guaranteed a play-off place at the very minimum IMO.
  5. Absolutely. I’m a self-employed electrician and there is no such thing as ‘keeping your hand in’ within the electrical game nowadays. Its 2023 not the 1980’s.
  6. LJ did fine for me in his first couple of years here - the problem that the powers that be didn’t see was that by about the summer of 2018 he had taken us as far as he could. IMO he did a very good job after Cotts. Don’t get me wrong i loved Cotts but we we’re heading down that season under him. Yes he wasn’t backed etc etc but his obsession with playing 3-5-2 week in week out when it just wasn’t working was his downfall. I think SL got rid of him at the right time. As I just said the summer of 2018 was the time to have given LJ the boot. Yes it would have been harsh maybe as he had us knocking on the door and fair play he got us established at this level and the cup run was fantastic but that was the summer to have gotten in a Pearson or Hughton IMO. Managers who have proven at this level if they have heaps of cash to spend (like LJ was allowed to spunk) then they will more than likely get you into the play-offs as a bare minimum.
  7. Ridiculous prices. I know the same posters will bleat on about getting a membership will make prices cheaper bla bla but im sorry our pay on the day prices are scandalous. You shouldn’t have to pay for a membership, fans should be able to rock up pay on the day or get tickets online and not get fleeced.
  8. Struggle to see where LJ goes from here to be honest. Can’t ever see him getting a job in the championship again.
  9. I suppose all publicity is good publicity for Sean Donnelly and the Lions but pretty embarrassing for him and the pub that it is them promoting it..

    Vyner

I must say i was always in the ‘Vyner is league one at best’ camp but fair play to him he has really come on the past few months and proved the doubters (myself included) all massively wrong. I think its definitely a confidence thing with Zac. You can see him literally go within himself after a bad touch or pass but equally when he does something well and he senses the crowd’s positive response he looks a different player. He is growing into a very solid championship player.
  11. I don’t think anyone is ‘moaning’ about Ronaldo just a bit bemused at the constant bleating from him about wanting to play at the highest level still and needing to be playing champions league football, then he moves to Saudi Arabia. Fair play to him may i add, the deal is staggering from a financial point of view. It’s just the bullshit and petulant childish attitude that me and many cannot stand about Ronaldo. He could have easily stayed in Europe and played for a more sensible wage but he choose $$. Can’t knock it just don’t lie to the general public about it.
  12. I would hazard a guess that no European club that is playing champions league football were willing to meet his wage demands. Im sure there were plenty that would have loved Ronaldo but none were willing to pay him the dough he wanted (i would imagine around the £400k a week mark). There were plenty of reports in Portugal that Sporting were desperate for him back but he would have had to of fit into their wage structure, ultimately its all about money for brand Ronaldo, all this talk of ‘needing’ champions league football is bollox IMO. I don’t think his ego would have allowed him to have taken a substantial pay cut irrespective of if his new club were in the champions league hence why Saudi is probably the best place for him.
  13. Indeed. As has been said over and over again on here SL and the board backed the wrong horse in Ashton and LJ. Had they of backed somebody tried and tested like Hughton chances are it would have yielded much better results. We certainly wouldn’t have been speculatively spunking millions upon millions on players from aboard for example. Hughton would have gotten in some tried and tested players at this level at least, which always helps..
  14. But we’re prepared to let Little Lee and his side kick Ashton literally re-shuffle the squad every transfer window. Admittedly Hughton had a shocker at Forest but i think with time and a good amount of money he will do well for you at this level - take what he did at Brighton for example.
  15. That’s OTIB for you mate! I must say i have woken up fairly positive this morning after last nights hard earned point. In regards to the OP, i have been as critical of any of Steve Lansdown on this forum over the years. There have been some absolutely shocking on field decisions and i think backing LJ and Ashton with the money that he did was arguably one of the worst if not the worst one of them all. Im certain SL is kicking himself privately for that now as he will know that had that money been entrusted to proper footballing people we would have at LEAST of had a shot at the play-offs again by now and possibly more. At least when all is said and done though and Steve does finally sell the club we have without a doubt been left in a better place off the field than we were in 2002. A superb 27,000 seater stadium still with scope to expand (if the new owners really wanted too) and a fantastic training facility. For that i think he should be applauded.
  16. A very good effort. Fair play to all those making the trip ?
  17. If my memory serves me correct it was SOD who first gave Bobby Reid and Bryan their opportunities in the first team. Bryan then flourished under Cotts, Reid not as much but yes i am certainly with you on LJ transforming Reid. Many wanted him gone and I don’t think anyone myself included saw him making it here as a striker..
  18. Possibly, or is it because Nige has been in reality left with little choice but to play those 3 - the critic in me would probably lean more towards that way of thinking. I’ve always said however it would have been intriguing to see what Pearson would have done with the war chest that was presented to LJ between 2017 and 2019.
  19. Odd for an agent to publicly come out and defend their ‘client’. Very odd in fact..
  20. As @LondonBristolian has quite rightly pointed out the new CEO literally said we have a Premier League infrastructure at the football club - that is a fact that cannot be denied. On the pitch we are absolutely miles away (at this moment in time) from being a Premier League club but the stadium and training facilities are without question fit for the top flight.
  21. Aswell as Curtis Fleming and Euell? You’d imagine one of them would have to be let go if Shakespeare was to come in. Suppose it all depends on how much of the budget it would it eat up. I do find Shakespeare an interesting one though, it looks to be the case that whenever Nige has had success at a club Shakespeare has been his right hand man…
  22. Yup I don’t get the hype around Joe Williams to be honest. He has always looked well off the pace whenever I have watched him live.
  23. You are right he wouldn’t come here now with the dire financial situation we are in. I’ve said it many times before on this forum but when are stock was at the highest it has been in long long time (2017 to the summer of 2019 ish) we could have had the pick of many managers IMO. As we all know the Lansdown family spectacularly backed the wrong Horse in the Ashton/Johnson regime and let the numpties spunk away millions and millions. We now find ourselves in the situation we are in.
  24. Indeed. We’d have more than likely sold Andre Gray for a substantial profit aswell - unlike most of LJ and Ashton’s signings who were signed for big money and are being allowed to walk out the door for free as nobody wants them.
