I totally agree, people who riot irrespective of their nationality are animals. Why you thought the need to link rioting and looting of shops to the Euro final at Wembley however i do not know. No looting or large scale riots on the streets happened before during or after the Euro final at Wembley. ‘Echo’s of the Euro final’ were your words, the scenes in Argentina right now did not happen in London last year so stop trying to compare the two.

Also , you are absolutely deluded if you think there wouldn’t have been fans rushing the gates without tickets if the World cup final had been held in Buenos Aires at either the Monumental or the Bombonera stadiums then you are deluded. I lived in Buenos Aires for just over a year been to both grounds and the are decades behind us in crowd safety.

Maradona was probably still a much more relatable character than Messi though to the average Argentinian on the street. Im not knocking the clean cut and ultra professionalism of Messi but Maradona was such a cult figure for that nation in a way i feel Messi isn’t quite in the same way - maybe its a generational thing.

That’s tournaments football for you, you don’t always have to be the ‘best’ team to win these competitions - so many other factors come into play.

Yeah unfortunately I’m starting to get SOD vibes from Pearson now. I really like the guy and I’m a firm believer that had he of been brought in around 2018/2019 and had the available funds, he would have been just what the club needed. It’s a pity for Pearson and us fans that he didn’t come in earlier but we only have one individual to blame for that.

An unpopular opinion maybe but i feel he has been vastly over-rated by many of our fanbase. I feel Conway is much the better prospect, he has everything for me and his footballing intelligence is far superior to Semenyo. I think if we can get anything over £3m for Semenyo we should be happy IMO.

Still can’t believe Croatia made it past Brazil to be honest.. I thought they looked absolutely finished as a team when we beat them in the Euro’s, never did i think in a million years we would see them get to another semi-final but credit to them, a very resilient footballing country that has a population the same as Wales, it is hugely impressive what they have done on the world stage. As for Argentina i am sorry but i cannot stand them, i would love either Morocco or France to beat them in the final.

Indeed. I think people just need to accept where we are as a nation, we have come a long way since the disgraceful night against Iceland in Euro 2016. Belows is Germany’s world cup record - it just shows how consistently you need to keep getting to semi - finals and finals… Germany record in World Cup 4 time Champion (second same with Italy). 4 time runner up (record). 4 time third place (record). 13 time semi-finalists appearance (record). 8 time finals appearance (record). As @spudski has said France are heading to their fourth final in seven tournaments, as a nation we still have a long way to go to replicate them or the Germans but we do seem to be heading in the right direction for the first time in my life time..

I agree with a lot of what you say. You only have to look at Southgate’s obsession with picking Connor Coady for example. Now im not saying Coady isn’t a decent centre half but is he really international level? Should he really be getting a look in when you have Tomori playing Champions league football regularly and getting into the Serie A team of the year, and Smalling again who is again regularly playing in Europe (winning the conference league with Roma last season) over a very average Premier League player not playing in Europe and nowhere near the team of the year in the Prem. I think one or both of Tomori or Smalling would have been included in every one of the top countries world cup squads IMo yet Southgate overlooked them, madness.

You laugh but I genuinely think the fact Messi hasn’t proved himself in another country other than Spain is the one big question mark over his career for me. I think the move to PSG to play in a bit of a joke league was a cowardly easy way out for Messi IMO. That’s why i have more admiration for Ronaldo, he still had the fire in his belly to come to England and test himself in the toughest league in the world again.

You have to admire Croatia’s footballing pedigree, for a country of just under 4 million they punch above their weight time and time again at international level. Fair play to them , a beautiful country aswell ?

A huge chance for England to win this now i feel, I’ve said from the beginning i tip us to get to at least the semi’s - starting to feel like we can definitely win it now though.
