For Wolfie (not that you're interested).......

Whhhhhooooossshhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems I wasn't condescending enough.

If you have had loved ones injured in Warrington or witness the Canary Wharf bombing then you have my sympathies (however you may wish to take this). If you have you have every right to hate the IRA, just don't hold every Celtic fan personally responsible. That road only leads to more innocent people suffering which you seem incapable of comprehending.

For anyone else....

Without going into detail through some work that I have done recently I have some contact with a woman called Jo Berry. Her father was murdered by the IRA in the Brighton bombing. This is a link to a documentary she did where she confronted the IRA bomber responsible, Patrick Magee, in an attempt to understand why her father had to die in the cause of Ireland's freedom. Not sure how many are still interested in this thread but its a very powerful documentary and a good antidote to some of the closed minds on here. Amazing woman. I seen this when it came out originally and still just as powerful.

I remember watching a similar series where Desmond Tutu got together the families of victims & their murderers , the dignity that some of the families of the victims showed was quite unbelievable, they had every right to feel nothing but hatred for the terrorists and it was all very humbling to watch, it puts a lot of the posters on here to shame.

You obviously just write anything you want to believe! All of the above is complete and utter lies, if you have been keeping up with the times then you will know that here in Scotland there is a big division between the Celtic board and The Green Brigade. It's like me making up a similar lie that the Rangers equivalent The Union Bears are all Loyalist loving UDA/UVF supporters and run amok at every Scottish ground week in week out.

As some have pointed out Pro Republicanism is a very much complicated issue and to be honest is something myself and most on here can't be bothered getting into as the debate is usually derailed by a few idiots on both sides.

Cowshed is correct. If you're incapable of interpreting this image then you should perhaps refrain from emotional outbursts accusing others of lying.

It's an interesting coincidence that a long lost City fan should appear on this forum at the same time the club play in a friendly against Rangers.

One display aside that's a load of crap, the GB do a lot for Celtic park atmosphere but the media would have you know they are a bunch of terrorist, sectarian , puppy killing bastards. They are just trying to create an atmosphere. They're not the bogeymen scaring the whole world

No it isn't.

You bring nothing but ignorance and unsubstantiated opinion to this thread.

I'm so sorry, you of course being 100% factual, the green brigade are in no way in cahoots with the club and aren't pro IRA, they are socialist, that's for sure, but that is not a crime. They make the odd display that riles up the daily ranger and all the hunmedia outlets but they also create scenes like this

I think big jock did know,

You have been to Ibrox have you? You have seen the UVF badges and scarves on sale around the ground? You do know a schoolboy was murdered by the son of a UVF leader for daring to wear a Celtic shirt near Celtic Park? I think we have established that SOME Celtic fans support the IRA and SOME Rangers fans support Loyalist terrorist organisations. MOST Celtic fans and MOST Rangers fans are just decent people who like a game of football, sadly a lot of people are attracted by the hatred and try to perpetuate it. Like I said before I have some VERY good friends who are Rangers fans, and we seem to be able to have a beer without trying to kill each other.

As far as I can see on this thread no one has tried to defend the un defendable.

As for people on football forums not 'all being wrong', all I will say on that is I read a fair few football forums, and there is an awful, awful lot of bollocks written on many of them.

Which is Gaelic for our time will come, what's your point?

It is a phrase associated with the IRA and the Green Brigade.

The Group through its anti British activites deliberately set out to cause great offence to others. This is done with the knowledge of Celtic FC.

No other club in Britain and their fans would tolerate it.

The green brigade are not the happy-clappy, jovial heart of the celtc support. Their name alone should alert anyone familiar with the IRA structure to that fact.

They are highly motivated, politically driven and anything but stupid. Time and again they shove their hard-core Irish republican views and symbolism right in peoples faces, but most only see what they're supposed to.

The infamous poppy display for example. Most who viewed it were abhorred by the "bloostained poppy" part, oblivious that it began by reciting a line from the Irish rebel song "James Connolly".

God's curse on you, England,

You cruel hearted monster

Your deeds they would shame all the devils in hell.

I could go on, but the apologists will remain unconvinced and just as determined, because let's be honest, they already know what celtc are about.

Cue the trivialisation, denial and whataboutery.

Nobody has trivialised or denied it. I really don't know what you want a Celtic fan to say, yes, some Celtic fans support The IRA, some Rangers fans support the UVF, most Celtic and Rangers fans just like a game of football!

Been following this thread with some interest.

History has to many examples of the 'my tribe good, your tribe bad', which the OP tried to perpetuate in this thread. It has been pleasing to see the many more balanced views posted here. It would take but a moment, if he had been interested, to find online hundreds of examples of good things that Rangers and Celtic fans are doing in their respective communities, occasionally working together, but of course, that was not the point they wanted to make.

There are contradictions within contradictions here. Feeling more 'British' -even English, at a game of Rangers, within a community that may shortly vote to reject the Union completely? I am of an age where I remember the Scots taking over Wembley in the Home Championships, with great banners of 'remember Bannockburn'. Great to watch in truth- even as an England fan. Did it cross my mind they wanted the death of hundreds of English? Not for a moment.

Equally, do you have to support the monarchy and the war in Iraq and elsewhere to support Rangers? I suspect that is unlikely.

Whatever the nutters that exist still in both camps, we are transformed from where we used to be. In a day and age where England can play in Crowe Park, and God save the Queen is heard is respectful silence, we have indeed come a long way.

It seems people need to decide whether they want to be part of the solution, or part of the problem. I am clear where the OP sits.

Rioting is bad but not as bad as putting bombs in waste paper bins and killing children in Warrington.

British supporting parmilitaries, uvf/uda etc have killed far more than the IRA have, including children but most of you Rangers fans seem to want to ignore this, are you willing at all to criticise in any way the people who support this? are you willing to criticise in any way the banners and obscene chants at Ibrox? are you willing to criticise the positive discrimination practiced by Rangers FC of not employing a Catholic for over 100 years (i'm still waiting for some sort of reply on that one). I'm afraid saying"rioting is bad" isn't good enough. Of course most of us with a celtic persuassion totally condemn most of the actions of the Green Brigade, i think you should take your head out and sand and look at both sides of the coin, plenty of idiots support both teams.

Well clearly. I miss the point however, unless we are suggesting the Green Brigade planted those bombs?

I would regard myself as very much English, but my father was Born in Limerick.

My Great Grandfather was a member initially of what you would say was the IRA, and then in the Irish Civil War was a soldier on the pro-treaty side.

My father - who passed away some years ago, served in the UK armed forces for 25 years (his mum having moved to London when he was 14), including being involved in Suez, and doing a tour of duty in N Ireland during the 'troubles'.

This is a deeply ingrained and complex issue. It does not lend itself to simply making bogeymen of the other side.

People have deeply held beliefs and different heritage's, which will endure I suspect for many years yet. These should actually be celebrated, and not seen as points of division.

Anyone close to this should look in a mirror and ask are they helping there to be peace for their children, or continued division.

You do not need to make peace with your friends.
