I apologise, I thought this was the transfer rumour section of the forum, I'll post it in the anything to buy from eBay section next time.

No one said don't post it. Just that it's not the most accurate source especially for the championship as it doesn't get much media coverage which is how it gets its number from media outlets and Twitter.

As Joe said, no one said to not post it. Just thought I'd mention the original source before people overreact and think he's off. It's about as unreliable source as you can get and it just shows how quickly and easily things can spread via Twitter.

And how little `information` is required to get a rumour into their top ten.

Anyhow, it`s a thread on JK so no problem with Tipps69 sticking it on here, I`d have done the same if I`d spotted it first!

Exactly, no harm in it. Just interesting now how easy it is to get something into a fairy well regarded site's rumours page.

Getting slightly concerned by rumours from Villa fans about a supposed £6.5m (rising to £8m) bid on its way. Have said before that we'd consider nowt less than £8m minimum. With new signings possibly on their way this and next week, hope that's enough to show Kodjia his future (for now anyway) lies with us.

Whatever they (or anyone else) bid (if they do) should be turned down. We don't need the money and it'll be a big blow only a month before the season starts. If Kodjia wanted to leave, then slap a stupid price tag on him (£12m). Of course you're then left with a disgruntled player. But, he's our player and we hold all the aces, for once.

Its just that, rumours, I wouldn't worry about it until an official bid comes in, but Derby were intrested and apparantly they've been put off by our asking price I suspect if the rumours are true villa will also be put off,

I believe the price tag so say we should slap on, isn't too far from the truth,

This particular rumour originated from a Twitter account called @MichaelPAndrew set up yesterday who alleges to be a graduate in journalism who specialises in transfers and bids..

How many recent graduates in journalism would have enough contacts to be a reliable source for rumours?

It's a bogus account and a bad one at that. I wouldn't worry.

If we sell him I'll cry. Why strengthen the spine so well with Tomlin, O'Neil, new Smith deal, Magnusson but then sell our only championship striker. Wouldn't make sense.

We can cry together. I really don't think he will. It would make no sense at all. Even a bonkers bid should be rejected, unless we have someone lined up. In fact, forget lined up, not until they were signed. Would undo all the good work of the new regime.

Told that no @AVFCOfficial bid's gone in for Bristol City's Jonathan Kodjia,as rumoured. He may be on RDM's radar but no developments as yet

Pat Murphy is extremely well-connected at Villa as everyone knows, so unfortunately I take this tweet to mean there is some interest in Kodjia.

Not necessarily.  It might mean he wants to get rid of high earners or people he considers dead wood, which might not be Baker.  As a proven Championship performer likely to be on a lesser salary than many others at the club, I'd say he's one of the ones more likely to stay.

saw somewhere that sheff weds are interested in McCormack and they want 15 mill should surely make Kodjia worth 10 at least

Kodjia 3 years younger. At least £15m but I'd say £20m just so they don't come back. Not the season to be selling. Everything is geared toward a push up this league and selling a 20 goal striker doesn't show much intent.

One thing these big clubs need to realise is that all though they have the money from coming down, clubs like us that don't need to sell will and can ask for a lot or quite simply, they won't be sold. I'm sure the likes of Newcastle and villa will think they can buy promotion straight away but it will come at a cost and a very big cost if they aren't successful.

But in fairness, when you consider Newcastle are asking for £25m (Wijnaldum) & £35m (Sissoko) plus what ever they got in for Cisse, they won't be out of pocket & the players coming in will likely be on less wages, so it's not really going to bother them.

Their issues will be moving the players on that them & no one else wants so they are stuck with their massive contracts to pay.

And I think this will be a bigger problem for Villa as their players really didn't do themselves any favours last season & who's going to want to take on their huge contracts?

It is then that they can easily fall into the same situation that Leeds found themselves in some years ago & they have never recovered from that situation & it's got to be 15 or so many years on now.

Not sure where the Birmingham Mail have got their valuation of £6.5m for Kodjia unless he has a release clause in his contract (which I hope not) but surely we have to be looking at a lot more than that when put up against comparables (McCormack & Rhodes).
