They had more attacking players on the pitch 2nd half. Sounds like Johnson tried to shut up shop when it went 10 vs 10, which is madness considering we're possibly the worst team in Europe at defending a lead by sitting back. He needed to put Wednesday on the back foot by introducing Paterson, or just should have kept Tomlin on. We tactically shifted as though they still had 11 which was weird from Johnson. 1 Quote Link to comment
Arkateee
Naturally disappointed, but not in no way down hearted. It wasn't to be tonight, but i truly believe we have got a decent enough squad to finish mid table this season, with that i would be delighted. Unlucky lads. 2 Quote Link to comment

Shocking goals but would never had happened if a man on £30k a week could score from just 12 yards. O'Neil is as culpable, if not moreso. But rationally, it happens on both counts. redapple
I'm seething , ROD needs a rocket up his Arse and Tomlin needs .... Oh well calm down , get over it , that's sport . Disappointment will fade eventually , and hopefully we'll learn from it and go on a great run . Quote Link to comment
Curr Avon
City are still a work in progress. Great going forward, but prone to bad individual errors. Its still very early in the season and I back us to tighten up in defence. A painful lesson learned is the positive way to spin it. Edited September 13, 2016 by Curr Avon 3 Quote Link to comment

Completely agree - he's a player we could really do with, especially with O'Neill out the picture for a game. Quote Link to comment
DavidNoble
Yeah so so frustrating. But there are positives. Changes will be made. Let's not get on their back too much. We have a young squad and a player like Tomlin relies on confidence and fan belief, if we all start laying into him it'll be a huge waste of talent. 2 Quote Link to comment

TV Tom
Shocking defending by Flint and that was their centre half who left him for dead, this game shows we still have lots to learn at this level, our defensive displays have been shocking in the last two games but we are on a steep learning curve and are miles ahead of where we were last season, move on 2 Quote Link to comment

054123
Some mates up there said there were lots of positives, we just need a decent transfer window in January and I think we will be ready to push on. Quote Link to comment
havanatopia
This Match Day Thread is officially by far the longest... the previous most was Wed v City last season at around 725 posts. Remarkable an evening kick off and a loss has received so many contributions.. I am trying to find positives! Quote Link to comment
LondonBristolian
On the upside, we're 2 points off the play-offs and 5 points clear of the bottom 3. I'd have taken that after seven games for sure. Let's not let a good platform fall apart based on one result. Quote Link to comment
joe jordans teeth
What I will say is without reading all posts on this thread is it seems you can't criticise players without being called all sorts, think a lot should grow up. When players deserve praise then give it to them when they don't then allow people to say it as it is 3 Quote Link to comment

Even two don't. Indeed. I don't want to get into finger-pointing and I'm not having a go but I think and hope LJ will have learned something after tonight. From what I've heard (admittedly I wasn't at the game so this may be nonsense) it seems we reacted to going down to 10 men against 10 men by acting like 10 men against 11 and trying to defend what we had for all it was worth. Ultimately it didn't work and let them back into the game. As someone said earlier in the thread, sitting back doesn't really work to our strengths. 1 Quote Link to comment
